Chik-fil-A Honors the Memory of Our Fallen in an Awesome Way

There’s a reason I (and many other Americans) love Chik-fil-A.

For one, they just make good food. As far as fast food goes, you can’t beat it.

Secondly, I have yet to go into a Chik-fil-A in any city that wasn’t clean, the staff weren’t pleasant, and the atmosphere wasn’t family-friendly.

It may be that they were intended to be a family-friendly establishment. Chik-fil-A was founded by Truett Cathy, an openly and unashamed Christian from Georgia. Cathy’s son, Dan Cathy’s comments on traditional marriage in 2012 caused such a backlash with the gay mafia that they pledged to boycott and called on all social justice warriors to do the same.

The result was a record setting day of business for the chain, with many locations forced to shut down early, not because of the boycott, but because the overwhelming support from the communities who flooded in to counter the boycott caused many locations to run out of food.

If you ever needed any more reason to appreciate Chik-fil-A, the story out of Alabama today, in regards to how two of the restaurants are honoring the memory of the fallen for Memorial Day, as reported by abc3340.com is that a table has been set in each place as a memorial.

Notes on the tables read:

“We cover a small table with a white cloth to honor a soldier’s pure heart when he answers his country’s call to duty.

We place a lemon slice and grains of salt on a plate to show a captive soldier’s bitter fate and tears of families waiting for loved ones to return.

We push an empty chair to the table for the missing soldiers who are not here.

We lay a black napkin for the sorrow of captivity, and turn over a glass for the meal that won’t be eaten.

We place a white candle for peace. And finally, a red rose in a vase tied with a red ribbon for hope that all our missing will return someday.

You are not forgotten so long as there is one left in whom your memory remains.”

What can you say to that? What can be added to make it more poignant and real?

Kudos to the Cathy family, the Chik-fil-A organization, and to the atmosphere of the true, American spirit that is fostered as an actual part of the business model.

May you always know success.
