Trump Happily Backtracks on His Claims of Election "Rigging"

OH, this is going to be interesting, indeed.

For weeks, Trump has been pushing the notion that our election will be “rigged,” and whipping his cultists into a heavy froth.

With today’s news of the FBI deciding to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails, the hay-haired mountebank is singing a different tune. Will his devotees sing along?

“It might not be as rigged as I thought,” the gleeful Republican nominee told supporters in battleground New Hampshire. “I think they’re going to right the ship, folks.”

He repeated, “I think they’re going to right this yet.”

Less than 24 hours prior, Trump told voters that “the biggest rigging of all is what has happened with the FBI and Justice Department” in their decision not to indict Clinton for her mishandling of classified information.

Honestly, I’m flabbergasted. I am set back on my heels – not by this move by the FBI to attempt to regain some small measure of trust and respect – but by the fact that those words from Herr Trump almost sound like he is willing to admit that he may have been wrong!

“This is bigger than Watergate in my opinion,” he said on Friday.

I actually agree.

“If we let the Clinton cartel run this government, history will record that 2017 was the year America lost its independence,” he told supporters in Colorado earlier this month.

And he’s not entirely wrong there, either.

He’s not entirely right, because he left out his part in this ongoing tragedy. He remains a destructive force on a massive scale, and the greatest con ever pulled on the country.

He does, however, have some influence over a large group of unhinged citizens. Let’s hope his words today will have some effect on the passions he’s spent months trying to inflame.
