WATCH: Tim Tebow's John 3:16 Story is Amazing

Colin Kaepernick wasn’t the first NFL player to kneel on the field and cause controversy.

Remember the heat when Tim Tebow did it? It set off a firestorm for a completely different reason, and very likely, Tebow was blackballed for it, whereas Kaepernick gets to take up space in the NFL, even though his skills are of a more dubious nature.

Tim Tebow, unlike Kaepernick, is not a whiny troll doll, I’m happy to say, and has continued on with his life doing well for others, rather than complaining about his lot in life.

Whether it is wowing crowds as a Minor League baseball player, or extending service around the world through his multifaceted Tim Tebow Foundation, Tebow is an example of a life lived right.

From the Tebow Foundation website, there’s this amazing statement:

From a very early age, my parents instilled in me the importance of God’s word, the salvation we have in His Son Jesus and the responsibility we have to give back to others. That’s why in 2010, I was so excited to create the Tim Tebow Foundation with a mission to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.

This foundation, and all of our outreach initiatives, were primarily created to show God’s love to children around the world. I encourage you to explore this site and see how we have been able to accomplish our mission through God’s blessings and the support of our generous donors and partners.

We hope that you will consider joining our team through prayer and financial support. Together we WILL make a difference!

Do you notice what was missing there? Literally no whining! Imagine that… a sports star who isn’t complaining about how awful America is, how oppressed he feels, or how he was railroaded by “the man.”

How refreshing.

Earlier this week, Tebow appeared on the Harry Connick Jr. daytime TV show to promote his latest inspirational book, “Shaken.”

During the interview, Connick asked Tebow to tell the John 3:16 story from his book.

Have a listen and see if you don’t get chill bumps.

The good kind.

It really is a story of how God can use any venue to reach out to us.

And while it only takes an elementary knowledge of the Bible to recall what John 3:16 says, here’s a refresher:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 NIV

It’s a shame that our culture will not accept a player like Tim Tebow, but allows men like Colin Kaepernick such a broad platform.
