On the ground in Utah for Mike Lee

FreedomWorks PAC has taken a lot of flack from the Bridgewater minions for being here in Utah for the last couple days before the primary. Apparently, we’re the evil DC establishment that is invading the pure, uncorrupted Utah political process. Here’s the thing – we’re here mobilizing activists from the ranks of our own membership in Utah (about 4,000 total). Tim Bridgewater is the Bob Bennett endorsed DC establishment candidate, and the convention showed that Utah is done with politics as usual.

Just to recap:

  • Tim Bridgewater supported the massive Washington education power grab of No Child Left Behind
  • He admitted he would have voted in favor of the ObamaCare-like Medicare Part D prescription drug program; a $15 trillion unfunded liability
  • He used his high-powered corporate position to secure millions in Obama stimulus money for select clients
  • Bridgewater is not a candidate that supports small government – this is an extension of Bob Bennett’s big spending, stimulus-happy term.

Our Utah members are out today in force all over the state to get out the vote for Mike Lee tomorrow.

It’s important to keep hammering away at the big government establishment all over the country. Every seat matters this year, and we can’t sit back and let Washington spend us out of existence. We’ll fight for candidates that love small government and freedom, which is why we’ll fight for Mike Lee until he is the next US Senator from Utah.

Did someone turn on the kitchen light and send them all scampering for cover?

Don’t they want to come out and defame Jim DeMint today?

Working hard!! ;) We have an election to win!

This is a laughable post. What exactly is the reason Utah needs Mike Lee?

Did you notice that the convention that ousted Bennett also supported Bridgewater by 57-43. Do you have any idea why the folks on the ground in Utah did that?

lets dismiss or discuss your four points.

          1. Bush 43 put forth NCLB and 90% of GOP folks voted for it and now 90% regret it. Bridgewater was not a legislator so he neither voted for it or supported in a legislative sense. Do we have any proof Mike Lee opposed it? How a little profile in Courage on Lee on this issue. Come to think of it what has Lee opposed or supported over the last ten years? Its easy to say now “I was against when you were silent on policy issues until December 2009″

          2. What a whopper on Medicare part D–Its like Obamacare like a Redwood tree is like Charlie Brown’s Chrstmas tree. They are both trees–total mispresentation of the two. Yes its also an unfunded mandate of 15 trillion if you count the cost for 500 years? With all do respect is that a fair arguement. 90% of GOP senators voted for it—How about showing some love for John McCain for voting “no”

          3. Calling him a high powered corporate business man harkens back to Lennin-Marxist stuff that is taught at liberal universities. We are the GOP where corporations are not evil. Mike Lee is the new Paul Wellstone talking about corporate greed? The congress passed the stimulus plan and corporations applied for loans and grants? what a shock. Bridgewater did not support the Stimulus. Bridgewater did the equivalent of filling out the paper for a SBA loan or a FHA loan or applying for social security. He did not vote for nor did he support it.

          4. Bridgewater like Lee supports small government. On the issues they are the same.

I appreciate the video–had not seen that before.

I looked over Mike Lee’s resume again. He seems like a fine young man.

    4 years college
    3 years law school
    2 years as law clerk
2 years in legal work in DC(finally some private practice work)
2 years in Utah as a federal lawyer in US attonery office
2 years in Gov office as lawyer
1 1/2 years as clerk for Alito
3 three years as an attonery in Utah since June 2007.

14 years in school and government work versus 5 years in private practice.

He talks right but I note he has not been active promoting conservative causes. I prefer a business background for a US senator

I looked today at the resumes for Tim B. and Mike L. Tim B. has put himself out there trying to make a difference. He has been involved in the republican party at the grass roots. He ran for Congress.

Mike Lee has been as a government lawyer unable to run for office or express his own politcal views. I love Justice Alito and respect Rex Lee (MIke’s dad) but Mike has been silent on the issues of the day untile late last year.

I respect the opinions of the teaparty people in Utah who gave Tim B. a 57% vote at the state convention. The people who know these two guys voted for Tim. The DC groups seem out of touch there

It would obviously be best for Utahns to send Tim Bridgewater to Washington to continue Bennett’s tax and spend, big-government ways. Bridgewater’s extensive background in obtaining government grants, earmarks and stimulus funds would give him a tremendous advantage were he to be assigned to the Finance Committee, where he would play an active role in dispensing government largesse to political cronies.

Bridgewater’s political skills are also apparently superior to those of Mike Lee. He has deftly distracted attention from his indefensible record, to conjured, false allegations against Lee. Tim has also demonstrated remarkable political acumen in negotiating impressive endorsements in true, “quid pro quo”, “politics as usual” fashion, assuring Utahns the continuation of a rich political heritage in our country.

Despite the fact that both Mike Lee & Tim Bridgewater have stated similar views on a great many issues, I applaud the liberals for astutely recognizing and endorsing Bridgewater as the most “reasonable” and progressive of the Republican candidates.
With all that Bridgewater has going for him, I’m shocked Mike Lee has the audacity to stay in the race!

Let me guess. Are Bridgewater supporters claiming to be the true Mormons and Freedom Works to be run by anti-Mormon bigots?

Expect the same garbage in Florida, since Dick Armey endorsed Bill McCollum for FL Governor.

The people your were fighting over last night on twitter when they made fun of your photo of the “temple” that was the city and county building included someone that has a relatively liberal nighttime show for KSL, a well respected local radio station. He seemed pretty surprised that you tagged him as a Bridgewater supporter. I thought the radio guy was supporting the democrat candidate.

The press release Freedomworks sent out last week was not accurate.
