The Perry Campaign Gets a Life Line
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 14th at 04:46 AM |
Rick Perry’s debate gaffe last week will go in the annals of political history as one of the most embarrassing gaffes on a Presidential primary debate stage. His recovery the next day will be studied by future campaigns as the textbook example of damage control. His Saturday night debate performance in South Carolina gets him the complete redemption he needs. In South Carolina Saturday night | Read More »
Newt up, everyone else down in the Cain fallout
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 11th at 04:30 PM |
When I write about the polling, I hesitate to say more than I have to about the events going on that drive the numbers. I risk introducing unnecessary bias due to mixing the math with my own observations. But the Herman Cain harassment story is the story right now. Two new pre-debate polls are out. Cain is down further, Rick Perry is back down after | Read More »
“Flavor of the month” is not serious analysis
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 8th at 06:00 PM |
Conservative activists have this nasty habit of denigrating our own politicians, and in fact the very practice of running for office to represent our side. We kick our guys (and girls) at every opportunity, sometimes for no reason but to kick politicians. It’s in that vein that some have taken to referring to one Presidential candidate or another as the ‘flavor of the month,’ suggesting | Read More »
Rick Perry on the Super Committee & Energy
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 8th at 12:45 PM |
In the second part of my interview with Governor Rick Perry, I asked him about the Super Committee. He tied its existence into the failure of Barack Obama’s leadership. His answer transitioned us into a discussion about energy policy and the ability to create jobs in the United States based on accessing our domestic energy.
Mitt Romney as the Nominee: Conservatism Dies and Barack Obama Wins
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 8th at 04:45 AM |
Mit Romney will not go on Special Report with Brett Baier to answer the tough questions as the other candidates have done. No worries. Conservatives will bitch and moan for a few days and Romney will claim it was a scheduling issue, he’d always meant to go on, and he will go on. Should Mitt Romney win the Presidency, conservatives will find this pattern play | Read More »
Perry and Gingrich, sitting in the polls…
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 7th at 08:00 PM |
R-E-B-O-U-N-D-I-N-G. First came Cain, then came Politico, then came USA Today/Gallup and NBC News/Wall Street Journal with the latest numbers. This also make three straight post-scandal polls that have shown Cain to have re-lost his lead over Romney.

A Note To Charlotte’s Workers: Get A Written Guarantee You Won’t Be Outsourced To Unions
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 7th at 04:30 PM |
Based on a tip last week and subsequent conversations with employees at Charlotte’s Ritz Carlton who, according to them, had been told that they are to be displaced by union workers during the DNC’s 2012 Convention, apparently Charlotte’s mayor and the hotel are saying that the story is untrue. According to WBT.com’s Chris Miller’s twitter feed: Ritz-Carlton calls today’s RedState story “absolutely false.” If the story | Read More »
The Rollercoaster goes back down for Herman Cain
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 7th at 01:00 PM |
We saw last week that Herman Cain was on his way up before the Politico story, and fell off slightly afterward. Friday brought us a new poll which reinforces past conclusions. Yes, he really was on the way down last week, despite raising money in the seven figures.

Cain on the roller coaster
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 4th at 12:00 PM |
It always pleases me when two polls taken close together have very similar results. Even if they make out to be wrong some speculation of mine. So yes, it’s looking like Herman Cain isn’t exactly being helped this week. And if the new Rasmussen poll is genuinely showing a trend from the previous national poll, then he needs this story done as soon as possible. | Read More »

Cain surging… even before the new story fully broke
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 2nd at 03:00 PM |
Obviously the big story this week in the Republican Presidential race is the story Politico broke discussing sexual harassment allegations, and whether Herman Cain would be helped or hurt by that story. As it turns out, if the new Quinnipiac poll is to be believed, he was already on the way up before the story broke.
Herman Cain ’12 Iowa caucuses: Obama, 2008? Or Dean, 2004?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 30th at 09:30 AM |
Hot Air and Ace of Spades HQ are both contemplating the issue of Herman Cain, whether he can win, and whether he is truly likely to win. Fortunately or unfortunately – depending on your point of view – I take a utilitarian point of view on the matter: what does the Herman Cain Iowa plan look like? Does it look like this? Campaign organizer: We’re | Read More »
