By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | February 7th at 08:00 AM |
“For the last four years it has been a roller coaster for ICE officers with regard to who they can or cannot arrest, and which federal laws they will be permitted to enforce. With the demise of 18,000 jobs weighing on their shoulders (though certainly not their consciousness’) and just in time for the Sunday morning talk shows union bosses are now trying desperately to point fingers at the victim (and Mitt Romney) for the union’s strike that ultimately destroyed Hostess and its 18,000 jobs. This blame game is going on despite the fact that the bakers’ union | Read More »

Union Bosses Keeping [Mostly] Low Profiles At DNC’s Union-Free Convention
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | September 3rd at 05:00 PM |
Union bosses have made such a big deal about being upset with the DNC’s pick of Charlotte, North Carolina for its convention (even going so far as having an August ’shadow convention‘) that, while they may be in the state for the Barack Obama nomination celebration, they’re making every effort to make it look like they’re absent. Adding insult to injury, not only is North | Read More »

As Stupid As It Gets: Longshoremen’s Union Protests U.S. Marines
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | August 20th at 05:30 PM |
Somehow, it seems that the folks at the International Longshoremen’s Association misunderstood Candidate Barack Obama’s 2008 statement: “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” Since the target of the Longshoremen’s union protests is the U.S. Marines, according to this union press release, ‘misunderstood’ might actually be an understatement: Union longshore workers from many Atlantic Coast District Ports are joining forces | Read More »

By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | August 12th at 07:00 PM |
Despite throwing 400,000 foot soldiers into the effort to re-elect Barack Obama, union bosses are apparently still seething at the DNC’s decision to hold its convention in a [gasp!] Right-to-Work state. Last year, when the DNC announced that it would be holding its convention in Charlotte, North Carolina—the least unionized state in the nation (in a stadium built by non-union labor!)—several unions claimed they would | Read More »

By: briansikma (Diary) | May 31st at 10:20 AM |
Workers’ Voices, a front group for the AFL-CIO, has been billed as the “largest union super-PAC” even though its own website declares it is not an exclusively union-oriented organization. “Workers’ Voice represents and fights for all working families, union and non-union,” the site proclaims. It is no real secret, however, that the super-PAC is the creation of the AFL-CIO. Filings show that the group is | Read More »

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 23rd at 07:16 AM |
If you haven’t seen it yet, Newsbusters has the video of South Carolina AFL-CIO president Donna DeWitt beating the hell out of a piñata with a picture of Nikki Haley taped to it.
