Why is the GOP Florida Legislature Trying to Screw Allen West?
By: Leon H. Wolf (Diary) | January 28th at 08:55 PM |
As an outspoken black conservative with a high national profile, Allen West already had a huge national target painted on his back going in to 2012. As part of reapportionment as a result of the 2010 census, Florida gained 2 Congressional seats. Despite that, it appears that the Republican-controlled Florida legislature seems to have somehow managed to make Allen West’s seat much more difficult to | Read More »
In Which We Learn Reid Ribble Isn’t One Of Us
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 18th at 07:30 AM |
The New York Times has an interesting profile of House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy — the man who will someday probably gut Eric Cantor’s naked ambitions. For all the talk about a Boehner v. Cantor rivalry, reporters should keep their eyes on the Cantor v. McCarthy relationship. In any event, there is this interesting nugget about McCarthy rewarding House Republicans who toe the party line, | Read More »
House Freshman Call For Spending Cuts
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | February 16th at 11:00 AM |
Tina Korbe of The Heritage Foundation, my employer, interviewed House Freshman on spending cuts. Korbe interviewed Representatives Mike Kelly (R-PA), Renee Ellmers (R-NC), Allen West (R-FL), Chip Cravaack (R-MN), Steve Southerland (R-FL) and James Lankford (R-OK). West declares in the video that ”it takes 5 miles to turn an aircraft carrier and if we don’t start now, we will never get this ship, the U.S.S. America, righted | Read More »
CPAC 2011: Allen West (R, FL-22).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 13th at 04:00 PM |
I may have gloated a little over the “Congressman” bit: but then, FL-22 was one of the ten or so that most of us really, really, really wanted to get last November. Pleasant to have gotten this one, then. Rep. West did a blogger availability and the CPAC keynote speech shortly afterward; you can see part of the first and the whole of the second | Read More »
Allen West speaks to bloggers at CPAC ’11
By: Christopher Renner (Diary) | February 12th at 06:29 PM |
Promoted from the diaries by Caleb The highlight of my day at CPAC (and I’d guess many other bloggers would share that opinion). Before giving the keynote speech, Rep. Allen West (FL-22) stopped in to talk about diversity within the GOP, the GOProud controversy, the Middle East, libertarianism, the Congressional Black Caucus, motorcycles, defense spending cuts and more. Here’s the video, thanks to FTR Radio:
Freshman House Republicans Need Some Good Discernment
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 17th at 06:22 PM |
This morning’s Politico has an article on the number of leadership posts that the incoming class of 2010 is demanding be set aside for freshmen. Two slots on the Elected Leadership Committee (ELC), which basically means they will sit at the leadership table and participate in the discussion, one class president (largely irrelevant), and importantly, two coveted slots on the Steering Committee which makes committee | Read More »

Florida’s Character Assassins: The AFL-CIO, those ‘outlaw’ bikers and Allen West
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | October 27th at 12:01 AM |
Union lackey and former lobbyist Ron Klein [D] and the rest of his left-wing sycophants hate Allen West, the Republican candidate running for Congress in Florida’s 22nd District. He is everything they fear in a candidate from the Right and represents everything they are opposed to. Allen West is a pro-military, pro-freedom, and he’s a man of principle. He does not believe union bosses should be cutting | Read More »
Support Allen West in Florida’s Twenty-Second Congressional District
By: Rep. Kevin McCarthy (Diary) | October 21st at 12:39 PM |
One of the most exciting House races is in South Florida between Young Gun candidate Allen West and Democratic incumbent Ron Klein. After campaigning with Allen today, I can confirm the excitement toward his campaign. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is an internet phenomenon who has fired up the grassroots. He’s attracted thousands of fans on Facebook and Twitter. You may have been one of | Read More »
Florida Dems mail GOP candidate’s social security number
By: James Richardson (Diary) | September 20th at 11:55 AM |
In a state Democratic Party mailer that hit South Florida mailboxes last week, voters found an interesting figure on a top GOP House recruit: His social security number. The Florida Democratic Party reproduced a 2005 tax lien–since paid–filed against Allen West for delinquent credit card bills. As the Palm Beach Post reports, the document contains the GOP hopeful’s social security number. While the record does | Read More »
