Reign of the man-child
There’s a common thread running through Anthony Weiner’s latest sexting escapades, Barack Obama’s 19th pivot to the economy, and much else that’s going wrong in America today. This is the reign of the man-child, the era of perpetual teenage indulgence. Nothing is my fault, man. Nobody understands me. Everyone keeps hassling me about little stuff. Nobody can see the superhero I really am. Consequences are | Read More »
Dirk Diggler For President
A few months ago, I was reading RS.com and just had to unplug and take a nice walk in the woods. It was that or the barf bag. It seems we were endorsing a somewhat defective Congressional Candidate from South Carolina. A man who generally had Conservative views when he did his thinking with the head attached to his neck. That, of course, was the Infamous Mark Sanford. We were promised up and down that he had figured out the tricky difference between Appalachian Trail and Argentinean Tail. Yep, he’s back in the saddle and it’s time to assess how that’s been working out for us. With Mark all elected, every opportunistic Dem was crowing about the hypocrisy of the “Family Values Party.”

…Anthony Weiner contemplating running for NYC Mayor anyway?
I… don’t know what to say. Could former Rep. Anthony Weiner be preparing for a political comeback? The Democrat’s latest filing with the New York City Campaign Finance Board, published Tuesday, may send some subtle messages. His mayoral campaign committee, created ahead of his unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination in 2005, reported spending just one dollar shy of $37,000 in the last six months. | Read More »
Meet Bob Turner (R-CAND, NY-09).
Bob is running in the special election called to replace Rep. Weiner after, well, delicacy prohibits me from finishing that sentence in the way that it deserves. Anyway, the election in question is next month, and is already surprisingly close, this early out. Turner’s Democratic opponent David Weprin is only leading 48/42 in the latest Siena poll, which frankly demonstrates a startlingly weak lead in | Read More »
New York GOP Should Pick Bob Turner for CD-9 Special Election
Update: Mission Accomplished- Bob Turner will be the nominee. On September 13, there will be a special election in New York’s 9th congressional district to fill the vacant seat of progressive champion, Anthony Weiner. After squandering the past three special elections, New York Republicans should redeem themselves by appointing a stellar candidate. Unfortunately, there are no primaries for special elections in New York, so we | Read More »
NPR’s Nina Totenberg Feels Sorry For Weiner, Scolds Hecklers
NPR’s Nina Totenberg joins the ranks of feminists who are prostituting themselves – excuse me, sex worker-ing themselves – for Weiner. On Friday’s Inside Washington, Totenberg had the utter gall to spew the following drivel: NINA TOTENBERG, NPR: I finally felt sorry for Anthony Weiner at that press conference with people heckling him, making him a further spectacle. I mean the guy was finally resigning. You should be | Read More »
How the Daily Kos did NOT sanitize its Weinergate coverage.
It all started when I decided to drink some of the pain of the Activist Left. I was reading Mickey Kaus – who himself is no slouch when it comes to despising the activists that have essentially destroyed his current and my former party – when he linked to this in-retrospect-unfortunate Tweet by Kos referencing dKos’ rather embarrassingly wrong conspiracy theory about what was going | Read More »
BREAKING: Anthony Weiner to resign House seat.
Unconfirmed as of yet, but it’s honestly the only option that the man has at this point, especially since his own party was publicly throwing him under the bus. Presumably somebody offered him a sufficiently lucrative golden parachute. Moving along, let us first get the obligatory parting shot out of the way… …as you might have guessed from the picture and the subtitle, there is | Read More »
The Tuesday Weinergate Democratic screaming match.
If you have ever wondered why the GOP leadership’s first instinct in time of scandal* is to immediately jettison the offenders (whether they like it or not)… well, there’s a reason for that: it rarely gets better if you let things fester. Case in point… Politico reports that a Democratic caucus Tuesday devolved into a bit of a screaming match; Rep. Bill Pascrell of New | Read More »
Overheard In The Halls Of Congress
Cross-Posted: TobyToons (Conservative Political Cartoons)
Hey, Jeff Toobin! About that Andrew Breitbart #Weinergate thing.
You remember how you went on CNN to attack Andrew about the ludicrous, oh so ludicrous suggestion that Anthony Weiner might have been having private digital conversations with teenagers? You know, this attack: “This is the silliest little thing.” Well, it’s also the funniest thing! The Delaware police are now looking into Anthony Weiner’s… private digital conversations with a teenager! Which Weiner is totally admitting | Read More »
Dare I Point This Out?
This write up by Amy Davidson at the New Yorker is getting passed around as a “savvy”, “smart”, and “unconventional” take on Anthony Weiner. She posits that Anthony Weiner is not a good measurer of risk. Measuring risk is what politicians do for a living—from when they decide to run, to voting to hire policemen or teachers or to go to war. One doesn’t want | Read More »
Weinergate: This Is No “Joke”
Like most parents, I have become adept at the rapid fire muting of the satellite radio when shepherding my children around in the car. Not only are the ads wildly inappropriate, but the news itself is not far behind. To wit, this morning when they caught a few sentences of Weinergate. The natural impulse is to shield them from the squalor, to turn off the | Read More »
The Triumph of Politics
I am sure you will read a lot about Congressman Weiner and his scandal and morality and failed politicians and us versus them and David Vitter, Larry Craig and Ted Kennedy and what have you. I am sure you will. I am not sure you will read anything similar to my take on this, which is admittedly not as partisan as some other takes may | Read More »
#weinergate … well, now. Weiner’s naked torso.
[FURTHER UPDATE] If you missed that, then you have missed the most epic Wait, What? in recent political history. [UPDATE]: Here’s the live feed for the press conference… which has been apparently taken over by Andrew Breitbart. Wait, what? Did Weiner run? This would be where the deep hurting starts: Big Journalism released another photo from now-officially-beleaguered! Rep. Anthony Weiner to a second, as-yet-unnamed* woman. | Read More »
