Terribly inconsistent polling in Florida
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | September 24th at 07:00 PM |
I am at a loss as to how to analyze the polling of the race for Governor in Florida. Of the last four polls at Real Clear Politics, Republican Rick Scott leads according to Rasmussen Reports and Ipsos for Reuters, while Democrat Alex Sink leads acccording to Mason Dixon and CNN/Time. Two polls concluded on the same day (Rasmussen and Mason Dixon) are not supposed | Read More »

Alex Sink Gambled Florida’s Future and Lost
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 20th at 01:53 PM |
“If Rick Scott is the Bernie Madoff of Medicare, is Alex Sink the Charles Ponzi of the Public Trust?” Well, well, well. What do we have here?! It turns out that the Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida is tied a bit too closely to Charlie Crist and Bill McCollum in screwing Florida’s citizens. Sink sunk the state with bad investments. When the investments collapsed, | Read More »
McCollum the Sore Loser?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 26th at 01:04 PM |
This is getting disgraceful. I realize the level of acrimony is out of control in Florida, but this behavior is typical of McCollum and one of the chief reasons his opponent barely lost McCollum’s home county — ponder that point. McCollum hired most of Charlie Crist’s 2006 campaign staff, which happened to be former Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer’s inner circle. Yes, the indicted JIm | Read More »
Rick Scott Wins
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 25th at 02:31 AM |
It was one of the nastiest primaries anyone could remember in Florida. Scott and McCollum spent millions attacking each other — Scott with his own fortune and McCollum with a great deal of third party group money. McCollum’s campaign orchestrated stunt after stunt to highlight the baggage Scott would bring to the general election, but it was not enough. Rick Scott, a conservative businessman and | Read More »
Final look at Florida
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | August 23rd at 01:00 PM |
Despite a rash of independents and party switches in Florida, tomorrow there are still two meaningful primaries at the top of the ticket. For the Democrats, tomorrow they choose between Bill Clinton-backed Kendrick Meek, and wealthy challenger Jeff Greene for a Senate candidate. Republicans have to decide on a candidate for Governor between former Impeachment star Bill McCollum and wealthy challenger Rick Scott. With one | Read More »

More Quinnipiac contrarianism in Florida
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | August 19th at 01:30 PM |
Tired of Florida yet? Too bad! Just about every public pollster is hitting the state comprehensively, so like a hanging chad this race will stick around at least until next week. And after Quinnipiac yesterday went contrarian on the primaries, today the firm goes contrarian on the general.

Quinnipiac: Meek, McCollum lead
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | August 18th at 05:00 PM |
Both Bill McCollum and Kendrick Meek have struck back against their respective challengers Rick Scott and Jeff Greene. Meek has campaigned hard with Bill Clinton, while McCollum has done different things depending on whom you ask. Regardless though, Quinnipiac shows both candidates on top as the Florida primary nears.
I’m Still Perturbed by This
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 13th at 12:15 PM |
The Bill McCollum campaign in Florida is lamely trying to deny they had anything to do with that stupid lawsuit against Rick Scott. They’ve also decided that because I am defending Scott in this that I must be a shill for Scott. Were I shilling for Scott, given my track record, I would be endorsing the guy. I am not and that is not the | Read More »
The Bill McCollum Campaign Looks Desperate and Dead to Integrity
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 11th at 05:00 AM |
“Here we have the Attorney General of Florida abusing his office to destroy a company all to help his standing in the polls.” Holy cow. I never would have thought I’d see Bill McCollum stoop to cheap political tricks to try to boost his poll numbers. Short of putting a dead girl or live boy in Rick Scott’s trunk, I don’t think McCollum could have | Read More »
Rick Scott Continues to Lead Bill McCollum in Florida
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 3rd at 10:10 AM |
The gubernatorial race in Florida continues to surprise me. Bill McCollum, the unquestionably conservative Attorney General and former congressman who played a part in Bill Clinton’s impeachment, is losing to a novice politician and former hospital CEO. With just three weeks until Election Day, and early voting beginning next week, Scott is beating McCollum in every demographic and geographic category of likely GOP voters, said | Read More »
Daylight in the Florida Primaries
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | August 2nd at 01:00 PM |
From Unlikely voter: Florida is a large and aggressively contested state. It, of all states, demands the clarity of traditional horserace polling. We have been denied that opportunity yet, though, because the Republicans still need a candidate for Governor and the Democrats still need a candidate for Senate. Quinnpiac’s poll suggests we may get answers soon, as late entering political novices Rick Scott and Jeff | Read More »

Milquetoast McCollum vs. the Hillarycare Killer
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 27th at 07:00 AM |
I have paid little attention to the race for Governor in Florida. But that race is getting more and more interesting. Friends of mine have been pushing me to weigh in on one side, then the other. Lately, however, a multitude of people have asked me to weigh in on this business with Rick Scott. He guest posted once here about Obamacare and I’ve defended | Read More »
