Shenanigans in NY-13: did Charlie Rangel win, or lose?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | July 2nd at 01:00 PM |
Apparently nobody’s really sure at the moment: original reports had Rangel winning by 1,034 votes. However, what can be fairly described as tabulation “irregularities” have come to light, thus causing Rangel’s lead over contender Adriano Espaillat to shrink to 802 votes. With about 2,000 absentee/affidavit votes remaining, the primary election is still very much now in doubt. It’s also now going to the courts. Of | Read More »
Lee Fang: Math is Hard
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | May 24th at 11:30 PM |
Lee Fang’s job title at the Center for American Progress is “Researcher”. Heh. Honestly, I’d never heard of this guy until about a month ago, when he made the mistake of thinking he knew something about oil trading, accusing the Koch Brothers of rigging the markets for easy gains. His evidence was, you know, contango. Koch Brothers. Today Fang attacked the freshman Republican from Arizona’s | Read More »
Today in Washington – December 2, 2010
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | December 2nd at 10:00 AM |
Keeping taxes low is finally front and center on the Congressional agenda. Today, Democrats in the House are pushing for a vote Obama version of limited tax relief for American families making under $250,000 and individuals making under $200,000. Republicans in Congress are pledging to fight for tax cuts for job creators making more than that amount and retention of lower rates on capital gains, dividends and the | Read More »
Who are you calling extreme, Dems?
By: James Richardson (Diary) | September 17th at 10:06 AM |
Incumbent Democrats are desperate — increasingly aware the public’s taste for their brand of change has waned. Some, in generally conservative districts and states, are reaching for the mantle of the moderate; others, like those in reliably Democratic areas, have not yet begun backsliding on the president on the issues of health care reform and spending. But all — no matter how comfortable their lead | Read More »
In Obama’s Post-Racial America: National Newspaper Publishers Association Screams Racism
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 4th at 11:30 AM |
Behind the scenes here at RedState, we have been joking that it was only a matter of time before people started screaming racism over the ethics trials of Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters. Well, the time has come. I have in my possession an email sent from Nichelle Holliday, an executive assistant at the Los Angeles Sentinel. The email was sent to upwards of a | Read More »
Keep spending that campaign cash, Rangel.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | July 24th at 11:00 PM |
I beg to differ with JammieWearingFool: I heartily approve of Rep. Charlie Rangel’s (D, NY-15) spending decisions. Charles Rangel’s legal bills are piling up as high as the campaign cash he’s raking in to pay for his ethics defense. That leaves the Harlem Democrat with no choice but to run for, and win, a 21st term in the House to keep raising campaign money to | Read More »
Charlie Rangel (D-NY) Epitome of Most Ethical Congress Ever. Plus, Racism!
By: Lori Ziganto (Diary) | July 24th at 10:00 PM |
By most ethical Congress ever, I of course mean the total opposite. Much like the claims of the most transparent administration ever – in Obama-era Newspeak terms, you must just assume the opposite to be true. Charlie Rangel, after having been forced, kicking and screaming, to step down as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee in March, has now been charged with multiple | Read More »
Breaking: Rangel to be charged with new ethics violations
By: James Richardson (Diary) | July 22nd at 05:51 PM |
A House ethics committee has launched an investigation into New York Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel for undisclosed ethics violations, the Associated Press reported Thursday. Rangel, who resigned from his chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee in March following a formal admonishment for two corporately-underwritten Caribbean junkets, will appear next week before a subcommittee of the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct. Composed | Read More »
Meet Michel Faulkner (R CAND, NY-15).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | June 10th at 10:30 PM |
It’s pronounced ‘Michael:’ he’s running in Charlie Rangel’s seat, assuming of course that Charlie Rangel doesn’t get ousted in the primary itself. I like our chances on this one. Rangel’s got a serious primary challenger, he’s got a very poor ethical reputation right now, and Faulkner’s the sort of candidate that you want to have on hand for a general election challenge when in a | Read More »
Rangel equates Obama with Cheney.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | June 6th at 05:04 PM |
Guess he’s not counting on the President to campaign for him, then. Rep. Charles Rangel compared President Obama to former Vice President Dick Cheney Saturday for their shared commitment to the Iraq War, one the Harlem Democrat argues is based on the country’s hunger for oil. “I challenge anyone to tell me we aren’t there because of the oil,” said Rangel, who kicks off his | Read More »
Rep. Maxine Waters: *many* Congressman as bad as Charlie Rangel.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 7th at 08:47 PM |
Do tell. “Many members” of Congress suffer from the same disclosure issues as Rep. Charles Rangel (D.N.Y.), one of his allies said Wednesday. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) downplayed the seriousness of allegations against Rangel that he failed to disclose sources of income and pay taxes on some properties, saying that many lawmakers suffer from innocent lapses in judgment when filing mandatory financial disclosure forms. “I | Read More »
