Lansing Dems demand another tax hike while Granholm-Cherry economy destroys mental health
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. You wanted it, Michigan, you got it. It took approximately five days for us to learn the amount of the next tax hike Democrats are looking to impose on families already struggling to make ends meet here in the Great Lakes State and it could make the (appropriately) reviled Michigan Business Tax surcharge look like loose change. Now that | Read More »
What happened to my country?
This country was founded by those who worked their butts off to survive and then succeed. From the aboriginals to the European settlers and beyond. At first, you worked hard or you died. Do we really believe that the aboriginals would have given the “Pilgrims” any help had they viewed them as lazy and seeking only a handout? Achievement has been the fuel and fire | Read More »
Michigan economy continues slide while Gov, bureaucrats leave the country
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. Barack Obama swept in a host of new Democrats in Michigan on Tuesday and here we are, two days later, and not only has no one walked on water, the local economic news just continues to get worse. And the Governor’s reaction? She’s heading to the Holy Land on a quixotic crusade to bring jobs back to Michigan. The | Read More »
Eminem endorses Obama… I’m switching my vote!
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. There are so many important topics in the news today it’s tough to know where to start. I mean, seriously. We could cover Jack Hoogendyk’s second debate yesterday with Senator (for Life) Carl Levin, this one down in the motor city at the Detroit Economic Club. After all, Hoogendyk again assailed Levin’s position on the bailout, pledging that | Read More »
Keeping the MSM Honest: “Life long Democrats” are NOT Swing Voters
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. This morning’s Detroit News features an article detailing the return of the “Reagan Democrats” and the importance Michigan’s independent and cross-over voters have as we help elect the next leader of the free world. There’s a picture of a burly looking Macomb County man, scraggly hair and blue jeans, sitting in front of his big black motorcycle, because apparently | Read More »

A different take on that staggering drop in DPS enrollment
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. (Former Detroit Public School students fleeing the district.) Nearly seventeen-thousand kids left the Detroit Public Schools before the new semester started this month. Seventeen-thousand. That unbelievable number easily represents the largest single year dips in enrollment in the history of the school system and could probably go toe-to-toe with any other record of futility in any other public school | Read More »
MI Morning UPdate
36 Days until Election Day September 29, 2008 QUOTE OF THE DAY: “Who does he think I was talking about when I said ‘people on Main Street?’” -John McCain, responding to Obama’s attack for not using the phrase “middle class” in the debate. MORNING UPDATE: OBAMA IN DETROIT…same old rhetoric…but wasn’t it funny that the Obama campaign needed to bring Hillary Clinton into Michigan | Read More »
Shrek Takes Over As Detroit Mayor
Mind you, I do not follow Detroit politics. I’m not that much of a masochist. But I work with someone who is a Michigan native and who keeps me informed about the goings on in the Motor City. Thus came the news into my email box that the former head of the city council, Ken Cockrel, was today sworn in as mayor, taking over from | Read More »
MI Morning Update
55 Days until Election Day September 10, 2008 QUOTE OF THE DAY: "You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them…And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like | Read More »
As a Michigan voter (home of the one-recession state), I can attest that we have been hungry for real change. A plurality of Michiganders finally get it — that we are in this position exactly because of the control the Democrats (and unions) have over our state. It (like Ohio) is ripe for picking. Keith Naughton writes in Newsweek that with Friends Like These, Obama | Read More »

We are told hotel guests became upset by the loud outbursts. No charges were filed, but additional officers were called to help control congressman Conyers wife, Monica.” Welcome to Detroit, Denver! Apparently the Detroit City Councilwoman and DNC convention | Read More »
Detroit Mayor Jailed
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sent to jail today by 36th District Court Judge Ronald Giles for violating terms of his bond. Some are calling for Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (D) to remove Kiplatrick from office, a move her office seems to be seriously considering. Kilpatrick was elected to his second term as Detroit Mayor in 2005. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage.
Breaking: Obama Fundraiser headed to jail!
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. So Kwame’s going to jail, huh? How long, do you figure, before Barack Obama tells us that this is “not the Kwame Kilpatrick I know?” From the sounds of these remarks (delivered last May to the Detroit Economic Club) the Barackstar might have to do some back-peddling and soon. You can check out the entire speech and the Democratic | Read More »
If THIS isn’t a political party worth supporting, I don’t know what is
Sometimes I really wish I lived in Detroit. It isn’t just the state’s biggest city and the home to my beloved Tigers (you can’t see me right now but if you could you would see that I am shaking my head in disappointment right now), it’s where all of the action is. Where else in the entire country do you have a twice elected and | Read More »
