Tech at Night: Devastating poll against Net Neutrality, FCC, DISCLOSE, Free Press

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  September 25th at 08:00 PM  |

Good evening. Welcome to the special, totally planned, and not at all a fallback because I wore out after a week of catching up after the RS Gathering, Saturday edition of Tech at Night. I did want to make sure we all read about this poll by Hart Research Associates which shows over 75% of likely voters (MoE should be about 3.4 for a sample | Read More »

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  September 22nd at 11:30 AM  |

The House has 15 suspension votes scheduled for Wednesday.   The Senate will continue debate on the motion to proceed to S.3454, the Department of Defense Authorization bill, even though cloture failed yesterday.  Tomorrow, the Senate is expected to take up a motion on the DISCLOSE Act, S.3628. This is the same unconstitutional bill that received only 57 votes to shut down debate on July 27th.  The current expectation is that the House and Senate | Read More »

President Obama wants to reduce criticism of his unpopular government.  It is to be expected, because the American people have little confidence in the Obama Administration and the federal government.  Even left wing Think Tank, the Center for American Progress (CAP), has released data that “more than a quarter of the public says they have little or no confidence in government.”  This report is evidence that, even the left | Read More »

Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) is the Republican key for the Obama Administration to pass New START Treaty this year.  67 Senators are needed to pass any treaty, therefore the support of Republicans is necessary to pass START.  Republicans may want to stall passage of the treaty into the next Congress, because the New START Treaty may harm national security.  The Obama Administration may have signed a side agreement | Read More »

    NRA’s Kagan Gag Order

By: Curt Levey (Diary)  |  June 28th at 10:21 PM  |

Yesterday, RedState’s Erick Erickson broke the story that [T]he National Rifle Association’s management team has explicitly and directly told the NRA’s board they are prohibited from testifying about second amendment issues during the Elena Kagan confirmation hearings. …  [and] from coming out against Kagan in their individual capacity. Matt Lewis of Politics Daily and I added some details this morning.  Matt notes that [I]t appears | Read More »

    DISCLOSE Act passes the House.

By: Moe Lane (Diary)  |  June 25th at 10:46 AM  |

Elections have consequences – and here’s one, now. Thursday, the House of Representatives approved the bill 219-206, with 36 Democrats and 170 Republicans in opposition to the measure, which was written by Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the Maryland Democrat who heads the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee this year, and New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, who led the Senate Democrats’ campaign panel in 2008. The bill | Read More »

The DISCLOSE Act is on House floor today.  This bill chills the rights of Americans to band together in an organization and participate in the political process.  Sean Parnell of the Center for Competitive Politics said of this legislation, ”as the Rules Committee prepares to advance this speech-chilling bill to the House floor, its supporters are cynically misrepresenting the bill as simply providing transparency and avoiding all mentions of | Read More »

By: Dave Poff (haystack) (Diary)  |  June 23rd at 11:53 PM  |

Mike Castle (R [allegedly]-DE) has been so busy yukkin’ it up with his Democrat stick buddies in the House that he forgot about an eeevil special interest group that he is going to need if he wants to beat Christine O’Donnell in Delaware’s September 14 primary, let alone get elected to the US Senate in November; the NRA. By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  June 21st at 10:45 AM  |

President Obama is losing political influence on Capitol Hill, because poll numbers indicate that the President is unpopular with the American voters.  Gallup reports today that “U.S. registered voters remain split on whether President Obama deserves to be re-elected in 2012, with 46% saying he does and 51% saying he does not — little changed from earlier this year.”  This is going to be a tough fall for | Read More »

By: RedState Insider (Diary)  |  June 15th at 02:15 PM  |

The National Rifle Association just sold out your First Amendment right to participate in the democratic process.  Sources on the Hill tell RedState that House Republican members are “furious” at the National Rifle Association (NRA) for negotiating a special provision exempting the NRA from a new campaign finance reform measure racing through Congress.  Roll Call describes the campaign finance reform measure as follows: The bill, officially the DISCLOSE Act, comes in response to the high court’s | Read More »

Democrats Want to Regulate Bloggers & Shut Us Up

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  May 20th at 11:06 AM  |

“Democrats want to bring bloggers—all bloggers—not just conservative ones—under the control of federal campaign finance regulations.” Just when you thought the Democrats had gone after every possible sub-group in America, either through punitive taxes, confusing regulatory burdens, stifling federal takeovers, or just rhetorical attacks, it appears that the Democrats had left out one group.
