2008 No More: Obama Acceptance Speech Moved to 75% Smaller Venue
By: Jeff Emanuel (Diary) | September 5th at 10:15 AM |
In 2008, standing between artificial columns designed to recall the White House Rose Garden, then-Senator Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for president at Denver’s Invesco Field in front of a record crowd of 84,000. It’s clearly not 2008 any more. A similar-sized venue was chosen for now-President Obama’s acceptance speech this year’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, where Panther Stadium/The Big Outdoor Football Stadium/Bank of America | Read More »
UAW’s King Exposes Fall Strategy at #DNC2012: Instill FEAR if GOP wins, HOPE if Dems win
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | September 4th at 01:45 PM |
“We have to have people have the right amount of fear in terms of if (Republicans) win what they will do,” King said. “But I also want us to go more with hope. We all supported President Obama in ’08 because we did have hope.”
Apparently, it’s hard to sell ‘change’ twice so, explaining his (and Democrats’) fear strategy, King told delegates that Republicans want to end the world…or something like that:

Union Bosses Keeping [Mostly] Low Profiles At DNC’s Union-Free Convention
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | September 3rd at 05:00 PM |
Union bosses have made such a big deal about being upset with the DNC’s pick of Charlotte, North Carolina for its convention (even going so far as having an August ’shadow convention‘) that, while they may be in the state for the Barack Obama nomination celebration, they’re making every effort to make it look like they’re absent. Adding insult to injury, not only is North | Read More »

Last year, when the DNC announced that it would be holding its convention in Charlotte, North Carolina—the least unionized state in the nation (in a stadium built by non-union labor!)—several unions claimed they would | Read More »
A Note To Charlotte’s Workers: Get A Written Guarantee You Won’t Be Outsourced To Unions
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 7th at 04:30 PM |
Based on a tip last week and subsequent conversations with employees at Charlotte’s Ritz Carlton who, according to them, had been told that they are to be displaced by union workers during the DNC’s 2012 Convention, apparently Charlotte’s mayor and the hotel are saying that the story is untrue. According to WBT.com’s Chris Miller’s twitter feed: Ritz-Carlton calls today’s RedState story “absolutely false.” If the story | Read More »
DNC Union Favoritism Forcing Furloughs Of Charlotte’s Non-Union Hotel Workers?
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 6th at 08:30 PM |
In February, when the Democratic National Committee chose Charlotte, North Carolina as the host city for its September 2012 convention, it left the door wide open for the Charlotte-area’s union-free workforce to be discriminated against in favor union workers. Although Charlotte’s Democrat Mayor, Anthony Foxx (who is facing GOP challenger Scott Stone in Tuesday’s election), has denied the allegation, it appears Foxx has been misleading | Read More »
