A Second Stimulus Conservatives Could Get Behind
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile. I believe there’s a way to do this, for both parties to meet in the middle to get this country back on track economically. Probably with less than 2000 pages of bill too, not to brag or anything. The Democrats have been making some noise for quite some time about a “Second Stimulus”, which of course has no | Read More »
Dear Fred Thompson: Let’s Not Do This Again
I have a lot of respect for Fred Thompson, and in this particular case I think his point is precisely correct on the merits, but there are just some things that opponents of the President shouldn’t say during wartime, and maybe it’s just bad phrasing or just being provocative, but this is one of them:
Fredheadedness 6: Equal freedom, not interchangeable parts
[UPDATE : you can review the whole Fredhead Archive here at your leisure:] The past 9 months have been instructive, yes? We’ve seen what happens in the utter absence of conservative governance; when evil, arrogant, and ambitious people have unfettered control over the reins of power. We’ve seen they are unable to govern either themselves or their lust for power, riding roughshod over all Constitutional | Read More »

2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.3 What does man gain by all the toilat which he toils under the sun?4 A generation goes, and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever.5 The sun rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises.6 The wind blows to the southand goes around to the north;around and around | Read More »
Fred Thompson vs. “RINO’s”, Living up to John Adams!
Hello All, John Adams, our second president & major contributor and signer of The Declaration of Independence, said, “Our Constitution is wholly inadequate to the government of any other then a moral and religious people.” This warning says at it’s heart that if the people of our country or it’s legislators do not have high moral standards the Constitution does not have the regulations in | Read More »
Obama Buying Votes Again
Which two voting constituencies would you suppose despise Obama the most these days? I’m just speculating, because for so many people Hope-n-Change™ has become Hope-You-Won’t-Steal-My-Change™, now that America has gotten to know this jerk. My guess: (1) older citizens who see that he wants to rob Medicare to fund his health care system take-over, and (2) supporters of American military. With his poll numbers consistently | Read More »
Dear Senator [fill in blank] : Are you a crook, an idiot, or did you vote against Obamacare?
It’s really that simple. Obamacare has already been rejected by America. It is manifestly outside the legitimate purview of the government in a free country. It is fiscally irresponsible on an epic level. The “bill” being passed around in the Senate is a blank slate to be signed at the bottom, with the details to be filled out later by Democrats, likely by people whose | Read More »
Irrelevant Al throws pebbles at Rush’s toes
If Al Sharpton ever actually earned the title “Reverend”, I’d sure like to hear about it. Did this talking pile of pig-crap ever actually pastor a church? That would be a sad, unshepherded flock if so. Irrelevant Al is bleating again, in the oh-so-unsurprising matter that has come to light recently. He’s unhappy, and the left-biased media wants to make sure you hear about it, | Read More »
Ask Fred Thompson A Question
I’m going to be sitting in Fred Thompson’s chair on his radio show helping Jeri Thompson out. You can catch the show at www.fredthompsonshow.com. Back during the 2008 campaign, we would regularly do an “Ask Fred Thompson” thread here at RedState. You’d pose questions in the comments and Fred would respond. Well, we’re going to take it to the radio today. Leave a question here | Read More »
Beset by powerful enemies, free Honduras courageously presses on
From the diaries, by Erick. If you are judged by the enemies you accumulate, Honduras is one of the better republics around — all the local tinpot Marxist despots in the region, one that would like to be (Ortega), and the cherry on top : the world’s lone Superpower, led by a radical Marxist sympathizer who has already acted against Honduras and signaled that the | Read More »
Honduras right, Obama, UN, OAS wrong — according to the smart people
Promoted from the diaries by Erick From the lips of Obama at the United Freak Show last week: No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. . [snip] . There are basic principles that are universal; there are certain truths which are self-evident — and the United | Read More »
Michael Moore: my film production crew should own my production company
[h/t Hunter Baker and Robert Sloan at AmSpec] In an interview this week with Wall Street Journal’s “Deal Journal” column, noted film-maker Michael Moore speaks out about soon-to-be released Capitalism: A Love Story, produced by his own film production company, Dog Eat Dog Films. UPDATED: Honduran coup may be imminent, abetted by Obama administration
[UPDATE 6:30 EDT : the government has imposed a curfew from 4pm today till 6am tomorrow] Multiple sources (Reuters) (AP) report that ousted and exiled former president Manuel Zelaya is back in Honduras, hidden for the moment in somebody’s embassy and therefore out of the reach of authorities, who have promised to arrest him and try him for treason if he re-appears on sovereign Honduran | Read More »
Obama plays the ignorant card about ACORN
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama’s 20-year association with preacher Jeremiah Wright became toxic when the magnitude of Wright’s anti-Americanism and racism came to light. When pressed, Obama grudgingly distanced himself from Wright, carefully orchestrated and packaged by the press as some sort of ‘falling out’. He first said “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community” before later conceding | Read More »
