Moderates circle the wagons…for Charlie Crist. What are they afraid of?

The putative leaders of the Senate Republicans, Senators McConnell, McCain and Cornyn will be in Florida soon to raise money for Charlie Crist. “Florida’s Republican Governor Charlie Crist is getting a big boost for his U.S. Senate bid from a bevy of GOP A-listers. Very shortly: it’s good news for the GOP, with the partial exception of the NRCC. RNC/DNC, February (Via Hot Air) The RNC raised 5.10 million, has 24 million cash-on-hand, and no debt. The DNC raised 3.26 million, has 8.6 million cash-on-hand, and has 6.9 million in debt. And so the 2010 fundraising cycle begins.

Via Andrew Malcolm we see that Obama’s first Presidential fundraiser is scheduled for March 25th, for the DNC. Currently, the Democrats are trying to lower expectations, which… doesn’t mean much of anything, really. They did a lot of that last year to heighten their eventual totals, and it worked out pretty well for them.

    The little engine that lied

The Obama juggernaut was built off of millions of little pistons, right? So many Americans (and foreigners but we won’t go there for now; read below) believed in Obama and his new form of politics. Millions of small donors, the meager, humble, hopefuls generated support and fueled his candidacy into the history books $20, $50, $100 bucks at a time. Well, it turns out it | Read More »

If you don’t want him, Mr. Reid, we’ll take Joe Liebermann

Turns out John McCain wasn’t the only Republican Joe Liebermann supported this election cycle (from WashPost): But no one in the room knew, as Merkley spoke, that Lieberman had supported Merkley’s opponent, Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.). Lieberman, through his Reuniting Our Country PAC, gave Smith’s reelection bid $5,000 on Oct. 10, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. Lieberman’s support of Sen. John | Read More »

    Obama Still Soliciting Donations

The Los Angeles Times — when it’s not busy sitting on a videotape that could cripple Barack Obama’s chances on Tuesday — notes that the frontrunner who’s spent more money than any presidential candidate in history is still looking for more of your cash:

    Who is John Galt?

A lot of head scratching has been going on with BHO’s record-setting fund raising activities. $150 million in September alone? During an economic downturn? Perhaps some pieces are finally starting to come together and explain some of the less than honest activities. From Free Republic (via Atlas Shrugs) Somebody, high up, has access to millions of credit card, and possibly debit card accounts. This is | Read More »

Obama decries outsourcing, but supporters outsource fundraising

Sen. Barack Obama delivered his customary rousing speech in Abington, Pennsylvania on Friday, pitching talking points directly to the constituency he calls the “middle class.” The Ambler Gazette reported, “Obama said he wants to end the economic crisis by creating jobs through investing in renewable sources of energy, discouraging companies from *outsourcing jobs to foreign countries *…” Considering the fundraisers his supporters hosted overseas, the | Read More »

NRSC (Almost) Catches DSCC in Cash on Hand

It’s about time: The National Republican Senatorial Committee narrowed its cash disadvantage in August, outraising its Democrat counterparts, which spent nearly $14 million in one month primarily on television airtime in North Carolina, Oregon, Mississippi and Colorado. On Sept. 1, the NRSC had $26.8 million in cash after raising $5.2 million and spending $3.8 million during the previous month, according to numbers released by the | Read More »

    Barack Obama’s Fundraising Efforts

The Obama campaign raised $66 million in the past month. This sounds good, until you read this: . . . While John McCain can only spend $84 million over the next two months after accepting that much from the public-financing system, it doesn’t cost him a dime to get it.  The Obama campaign’s burn rate will be critical in determining whether he’s actually raising enough | Read More »

Howard Dean’s DNC Negates Obama’s Cash Edge

Barack Obama released his August fundraising numbers today, and it was an impressive haul: $66 million — the best month ever for a presidential candidate. Interestingly, Obama’s campaign hasn’t addressed why they felt compelled to release this information a week earlier than they had planned. Given the spate of bad news about the direction of the campaign, you have to think it was to stanch | Read More »

    Republicans Must Attack Democratic Congress

Other than a handful of lines by Fred Thompson, Republicans have done virtually nothing to attack the Democratic Congress at this week’s convention. That needs to change. Democrats have now controlled Congress for nearly two years, during which time pretty much every indicator voters claim to care about – unemployment, inflation, the deficit, the price of gasoline and on and on – has gone in | Read More »
