They Lied to us Then About Immigration; They are Lying Now
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | April 15th at 06:41 AM |
“First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same … Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset … Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived | Read More »
Ron DeSantis Wants to End the Palestinian Charade
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 21st at 02:49 PM |
One of the more intractable components of our foreign policy dating back to the Clinton years has been the obsession of creating a Palestinian state. The career egghead diplomats in the State Department believed that if we would only send billions in aid to the venerable leaders of the Palestinian Authority and grant them statehood, they would put down their terror toys and sing kumbaya. | Read More »
We Must Take Care of Our Own
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 21st at 10:24 AM |
What are conservatives supposed to think when they elect 240 members to Congress who ran as limited government warriors, only to find a few dozen members actually fighting for those values when it counts? Were they all a bunch of frauds? Undoubtedly, there are many Republicans in Congress who never were conservatives from day one or who never understood the true meaning of conservatism when | Read More »
GOP Autopsy: Change the Politicians Not the Policies
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 19th at 06:42 AM |
Amidst the soul-searching being conducted by party leaders in pursuit of the solution to the GOP’s electoral problems, everyone is missing the obvious culprit. Whenever a private entity goes through a period of lethargic growth and management failures, it seeks new leadership. Yet, immediately following the election, Republicans reelected Mitch McConnell and John Boehner to be the face of the GOP in Washington. Talk about | Read More »
The Williamsburg Accord: A Conservative Folly
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 14th at 06:53 AM |
Do you want to know why the Ryan budget is a waste of time? Worse, do you want to know why the entire House majority is a waste of time? Look no further than John Boehner’s comments to Sean Hannity regarding fighting Obamacare in the debt ceiling: “There will be opportunities ahead, but do you want to risk the full faith and credit of the | Read More »
Ryan Budget: Balancing with More Taxes
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 12th at 10:18 AM |
Paul Ryan released his budget proposal for FY 2014 today, and as expected, it will balance within 10 years. Let me first say that this budget would be superior to the status quo a million times over. Medicaid and Food Stamps would be block granted to the states and Medicare would be subject to at least some free market reforms. Most importantly, it defunds the | Read More »
Reps. Salmon and Schweikert Call for Members to Vote Down Bad Rules
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 11th at 03:38 PM |
Earlier today, Congressman Matt Salmon wrote an op-ed in the Washington Times echoing Erick’s call for conservatives to vote against the rule on bad legislation brought to the floor by leadership. The underlying rationale is as follows: if leadership is bent on bringing legislation to the floor that needs Democrat votes to pass, the only way to fight back is by voting against the rule | Read More »
Deciphering Man from Pig
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 11th at 07:52 AM |
The behavior of the Republicans majority leadership in the House reminds me of the last paragraph in Animal Farm. “Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No questions, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was | Read More »
Tom Cole: The New John McCain of the House
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 8th at 09:14 AM |
Dear residents of southwest Oklahoma, There is only one liberal left in your district (OK-4- PVI=R+18), and he happens to be your representative in Congress. His name is Tom Cole. Maybe you should elect someone next year who will represent the heartland and challenge the status quo instead of serving as a conduit for the left to attack conservatives. Tom Cole, like most of the | Read More »
What New Conservative Members Need to Know About AIPAC
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 7th at 10:48 AM |
Roll Call reports today that teams of AIPAC lobbyists are fanning out across the Capitol in an effort to block sequester cuts for Israeli foreign aid. We’re talking about a $155 million cut from $3.1 billion, for goodness sakes. Nonetheless, here’s a novel idea that would kill two birds with one stone. Egypt receives about $1.5 billion in foreign aid per year. Additionally, Obama is | Read More »
The CR Vote Tally: Courage in the Senate; Capitulation in the House
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | March 6th at 05:15 PM |
The House voted overwhelmingly to pass the CR today which failed to cut one cent from Obamacare. 30 members signed the Bridenstine-Huelskamp letter asking leadership to defund Obamacare through the CR. 16 members voted against the rule to bring up the CR, some of which hadn’t signed the letter. Only 14 members voted against the CR. In other words, several members took the drastic step | Read More »

If you live in the real world, you will notice that the federal government has destroyed our free markets, limited our freedoms, and denigrated our right to religious liberty – all before Obamacare has fully taken effect. The federal agencies continue to promulgate rules and regulations that drive up the cost of the most vital goods and services to the point that most of us | Read More »
GOP House Passes Unconstitutional Democrat VAWA Bill
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | February 28th at 03:22 PM |
Earlier today, the Republican-controlled House passed the Senate version of the unconstitutional Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The Senate bill expands “coverage” to illegal aliens, men, homosexuals, transgendered individuals and prisoners. It also expands the law’s reach to give tribal Indian authorities jurisdiction over non-Indians accused of abusing Indian women. The final bill passed with the support of 87 Republicans. Before voting on this bill, the | Read More »
Defund Obamacare or Bust
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | February 28th at 08:06 AM |
It’s really simple, folks. Everything boils down to Obamacare. Do we really believe that Obamacare will make private health insurance unaffordable? Do we really believe Obamacare will bankrupt the nation and relegate the next generation of Americans to a dimmer future of less freedom and opportunity? Do we really believe Obamacare will create incorrigible dependency? Dow we really believe that Obamacare will lead to a | Read More »
Cutting Spending – Washington Style
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | February 11th at 09:18 AM |
Throughout the past few years, we’ve noted that there’s too much focus on the dollars and cents of the budget. Even Obama and Democrats are talking about billions in spending cuts. It’s beginning to sound like an Old McDonald song: “a few trillion here and a hundred billion there; here a trillion there a billion, everywhere a spending cut.” However, once we cut through the | Read More »
