Apparently, Axelrod “misspoke.”
As Jake Tapper noted, Obama claim to not be involved in Blagojevich’s search for a replacement Senator: Asked what contact he’d had with the governor’s office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.” …was a direct contradiction of what | Read More »
MINOR NEWS IN INTERESTING TIMES
MINOR STORIES OF INTERESTING TIMES May you live in interesting times is an ancient Chinese aphorism and, for better or worse, we seem to be living in very interesting times. Whether our times will be times to remember fondly is another matter entirely. None of the following stories come close to matching the newsworthiness of the debacle in Illinois where Governor Rod Blagosomething had a | Read More »
Illinois Legislature to Consider Special Election to Fill Obama’s Senate Seat
It appears that the Illinois legislature will be gathering on Monday to consider passing a bill for a special election to fill President-elect’s Obama’s Senate seat. The bill would take two days to pass. This is the option that the Senior Senator of Illinois Dick Durbin (Democrat) has been pushing for. This option would keep Governor Blagojevich from naming a person to fill Obama’s vacated seat. Emil | Read More »
And the fun with Blagojevich has just *started*.
Ah, Fitzmas. I don’t know what’s droller: this predictive post, or the querulous comments to it. BlagoGate: Obama’s Burden At a news conference just now, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald made very clear that he had uncovered no evidence of misbehavior on the part of Barack Obama. “I should be clear that the complaint makes no allegations whatsoever about the president-elect or his conduct,” he said. | Read More »
Blagojevich Arrest Disrupts Appointment to Obama’s Seat
Just in case you haven’t heard Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (DEMOCRAT) was arrested this morning on a host of charges which includes shopping President-Elect Obama’s Senate Seat to the highest bidder. One would think that common sense deems that a man arrested for shopping a Senate seat would not get to name a person to that Senate seat. However, it appears that Governor Blagojevich will still make | Read More »
Today is a date that will live in infamy. (At least to many in IL)
As I woke up this morning I started to hear the wisper that I have known was coming for six years now. My wonderfully corrupt governor, Mr. Rod Blagojevich, was formally charged by the FBI with corruption charges. The FBI in their press conference that is occurring right now says that they have been wire tapping Governor Blagojevich’s phone at his state offices and even | Read More »
Charges Against Blago Imply Obama Camp Link
The Chicago Tribune has posted the text of the federal complaint against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. It’s a fascinating read. And one of the specific charges seems to strongly imply that the Governor or his representatives contacted someone in the Obama campaign seeking to trade the designation of Barack Obama’s successor in the Senate for the job as Secretary of HHS. Did Obama or someone | Read More »
Speaker Pelosi Should Be Nervous
From the diaries by Erick Speaker Pelosi could very well be playing with a ticking time bomb. I am not saying that the House Democrats are likely to blow but the possibility is certainly there. Lets take a look at some things that have transpired since the election… I must say that following the most recent election I was impressed with the way in which | Read More »

Picking a Political Scab for Their Own Benefit
I can only assign political motive for the Governor and our Senior Senator Dick Durbin for saying that George Ryan should be let out of prison early. It is quite clear that they would be more than happy to open up a new set of headlines to remind votes in Illinois of the corrupt deeds that the vile "Republican" Govenor Ryan was involved in. First diary – go easy… Illinois 8th Congressional District (map) covers some of the distant Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and extends North to the Wisconsin border. The district has an interesting mix of middle-of-the-road suburbs like Palatine, upscale old-money in Barrington Hills, and farm country in Lake and McHenry counties. Here’s the quick wikipedia summary.
A quick look at IL-05.
We have to stop conceding seats. The Other Side doesn’t. Anyway, this is of course Rep. Rahm Emanuel’s seat, and as he’s going to be the next CoS it’ll be opened up for a special election. The Cook Political Report lists it as D+18 – makes sense; it’s part of Chicago, and Bush got somewhere around 33% of the vote there in ’04 – but | Read More »
Why President-elect Obama should pick a Republican to replace him in the Senate.
Yes, I know that formally he has no say in the decision; and yes, I know that the title’s self-evidently ridiculous. Still, it’d solve his problem nearly. Obviously, after January 20, 2009 Illinois is going to need a new junior Senator, and the politicking for that seat has been intense, and increasingly louder. It’d probably be easier to give the names of Illinois politicians who | Read More »
Folks I wish John McCain would have made this a campaign Video!
What would Obama use this force for? Good Question. I wonder if he intends to impose martial law and have KGB like tatics and take people away if they speak out against Barack Obama? Vote McCain/Palin
