    Assessing Joe Miller

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  November 1st at 09:09 AM  |

A lot of people have accused Joe Miller in Alaska of running a “paranoid” campaign. I admit that I’ve thought it. Turns out he has been right to do so. We have the local CBS affiliate in Alaska out to get him — caught on tape no less. We have John Cornyn on TV giving a muddled message about who he supports, forcing the NRSC to | Read More »

New Alaska election write-in rules eliminate ‘Lisa M.’ gambit.

By: Moe Lane (Diary)  |  October 29th at 01:00 PM  |

The above quote comes from a colleague, upon hearing the news that a fairly successful ‘get your name on the write-in list’ registration drive was formed in response to the Alaskan Supreme Court’s decision to suddenly make write-in candidate lists available for voters.  You see, if you look at the old list you’ll see that there’s already a “Lisa M.” on there (Lisa M. Lackey); | Read More »

Joe Miller in third? Not so fast.

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  October 28th at 01:00 PM  |

Continuing Politico’s apparent strategy of linking to obscure polls that say bad things about Republicans for shock and traffic value in this wave year, the site now reports Joe Miller to be in last place. For several reasons, one has to discount this poll’s predictiveness of the coming election.

So This is Why Lisa Murkowski Failed The Bar Exam 4 Times

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 27th at 10:56 PM  |

In an interview with Rachel Maddow Lisa Murkowski explains that thinking something is unconstitutional because it is not in the constitution is not “mainstream.” Maybe so Lisa. But it doesn’t make it wrong.

Left-Wing Blogger Starts a Fight at a Joe Miller Rally

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 18th at 01:00 PM  |

The media is buzzing today about an altercation that happened at the Joe Miller rally in Alaska. A left-wing blogger, Tony Hopfinger, tried to corner Joe Miller as Miller was departing. He kept shoving people to get to Miller and it did not go over well. The left tried to blow this up, as did Murkowski, but now several eye witness reports are coming out, | Read More »

Republicans hitting their media stride. Two examples, Buck and Miller.

By: Aaron Gardner (Diary)  |  October 14th at 12:30 PM  |

Both of which are backed by Sen. DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund. First up is Ken Buck, Republican challenger to incumbent Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet. This ad had an almost Gahndi like message to it. “First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.” Buck reminds me of the happy conservatives of old, Reagan and Kemp style. I think | Read More »

Murkowski Yet Again Profits In Office

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 7th at 01:52 PM  |

I’ve documented before how Lisa Murkowski profited in office through a land deal in which she increased the value of property by directing a federal earmark to build a short road to the property for several millions of dollars. Well, she’s done it again. This time by voting for TARP. Turns out Lisa had substantial investments in several of the companies that benefited the most | Read More »

    The Opening Salvo

By: Ned Ryun (Diary)  |  October 7th at 11:00 AM  |

The 2010 primary season was, for the most part, a good one for limited government, freedom-loving conservatives. Most of the high profile challenges against the incumbent or establishment candidates, with Mike Lee, Ken Buck, Joe Miller, and Sharron Angle ended with the grassroots candidate winning. The American people clearly demonstrated that they are tired of long time incumbents, the ruling class, ignoring the will of | Read More »

Murkowski on the ballot would not threaten Miller

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  September 21st at 11:00 AM  |

Rasmussen Reports polled the hypothetical three way matchup for Alaska Senate between Republican Joe Miller, Democrat Scott McAdams, and newly minted independent Lisa Murkowski. This is clearly the best case scenario for Murkowski as she actually won’t be on the ballot, but even in this case, the result is not changed from the previous poll.

Republicans Must Remove Lisa Murkowski From The Energy Committee

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  September 17th at 03:50 PM  |

Lisa Murkowski is going to run a write-in campaign against Joe Miller, the Republican Senate nominee, in Alaska. Murkowski, during the primary against Joe Miller, used her ranking status on the Senate Energy Committee as a key selling point. Murkowski is no longer the Republican nominee and is running against the Republican nominee, forcing the GOP to spend money in Alaska it might otherwise not | Read More »

    Today in Washington – September 15, 2010

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  September 15th at 10:00 AM  |

Christine O’Donnell is the buzz in Washington, D.C. today.  She joins Ron Johnson and Joe Miller as the most recent additions to the Tea Party push for constitutional conservatism in the Capitol.  The House has 23 votes scheduled on the Suspension Calendar.  The Senate will continue debate on H.R.5297, the Small Business Jobs bill.  Cloture was invoked on the bill thanks to Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) giving Democrats the necessary vote | Read More »

    I have a man-crush on Joe Miller

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  September 3rd at 10:37 AM  |

Thanks to Media Matters (thought I’d never write anything like that) for highlighting my clip from CNN last night about Joe Miller. I so totally have a man-crush on this dude. He calls the Democrats ‘socialists’, says Barack Obama is ‘bad for America’, and wants to privatize social security. Wish they’d actually kept it going to the point where I was also praising Jesse Helms. | Read More »

Conservatives Have Won Nothing. You Read It Right. NOTHING.

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  September 1st at 10:24 AM  |

It has come to this, I’m afraid. We need to keep our perspective. Conservatives have won nothing. Nothing. Ken Buck you say? Sharron Angle? Mike Lee? Pat Toomey? Marco Rubio? Joe Miller? Rand Paul? Nikki Haley? Here, pay attention: they are all candidates. Yes, yes — we won primaries. Contrary to popular opinion that conservatives wanted a purge of party, we instead played smartly — | Read More »

    More Notes From Alaska

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  September 1st at 08:45 AM  |

Big Government has more on Alaska and notes: Murkowski did not endorse Joe Miller. This is getting to be a trend among beaten Republicans that they don’t endorse their more conservative challengers. See e.g. Bill McCollum. Sources in Alaska confirm Murkowski is in talks with the Libertarians, though the LIbertarians are saying she won’t get on the ballot for them. By the way, it is | Read More »

Knee Capping Mitch McConnell: Lisa Murkowski Concedes to Joe Miller

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  August 31st at 10:24 PM  |

Lisa Murkowski is conceding the senate primary in Alaska to RedState and Sarah Palin endorsed Joe Miller. This news is bigger than Lisa Murkowski. While Establishment Republicans will bristle at it, this is a near total kneecapping of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, not to mention another rejection of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Consider this inside baseball fact: McConnell has chosen as his loyal | Read More »
