Thoughts on the McChrystal Ouster

Lets dispense with some caveats here.  I did not vote for Obama for President nor do I support the majority of his ideas or policies.  I have commented on the stupidity of Obamacare as an expensive intrusion on the liberty of the American public that achieves very little in the way of decreasing health care costs.  Nor do I like his energy “policy” and | Read More »

    “Afghan Rules Need Changes”

Rowan Scarborough has the top story today at Human Events: Before Gen. Stanley McChrystal made the fatal mistake of venting to Rolling Stone magazine, warriors in Afghanistan say he was guilty of an even a bigger blunder. The four-star general put in place a series of restrictions on troops in the form of new rules of engagement (ROE). War fighters complain the rules have prevented | Read More »

Obama Had to Fire McChrystal, Right?

Now that this story is about to enter its third day, the overwhelming response on talk radio and on TV from what I can tell and I haven’t been following it every second is that Obama did the right thing in firing General McChrystal. The media is going overboard in commending him for his selection of General Petraeus even though they and their Democrat allies | Read More »

    Two Commanders, No Chief

The wrong commander resigned. That was my first thought on hearing news of the meeting between Gen. McChrystal and our Commander-in-Chief (my second thought was Joe Barton just got a lucky break). Given the story of the two men and their achievements in office, what fair-minded individual could disagree? One of these commanders walks through the streets of Afghanistan without a flak jacket, kneels down | Read More »

McChrystal finally got Obama’s attention on Afghanistan

Gen. McChrystal should have resigned for the Rolling Stone flap, and Gen. Petraeus was the only guy who could backfill that position. I don’t think anybody disagrees about that. It is interesting that Obama said just two years ago that Petreaus’ plan in Iraq was a “failed policy,” and now he turns to him as his savior in Afghanistan. Jeff Emanual has an interesting blog | Read More »

    Wanted Dead or Alive: TRUTH

    McChrystal resignation shows Obama weakness

any pundits have been pounding the theme that Obama must fire General Stan McChrystal to avoid looking weak.  They are dead wrong.  The firing of McChrystal shows much greater weakness than keeping him would.  It was an unjust action, and there is nothing weaker as a leader than taking unjust action to avoid being seen as weak.

    McChrystal’s Lynch Party

We just watched an old fashioned lynching and the culprits are on both sides of the aisle.  After reading the Rolling Stone article, I was struck by a few things the lame-brain media has in this narrative that are misleading. They have taken this article as being some kind of biographical essay of a person.  I was also surprised at the vitriol the media/politicians are spewing at the general, er | Read More »

General McChrystal-Insubordinate or Sending a Message?

The recent Rolling Stone article that exposed General McChrystal’s dissatisfaction with the Obama administration has caused quite a ruckus. It still remains to be seen, at the time of this writing, whether the General will be fired or resign due to the indignation of his Commander in Chief. The general consensus appears to be that the General was reckless in his speech and lowered his | Read More »

    Breaking: McChrystal Out, Petraeus IN

Breitbart reports that Petraeus will replace McChrystal. While the narrative might veer toward suggesting this is MacArthur-esque, the MacArthur here (the pompous, overconfident, know-it-all that won’t listen to his closest advisors) is Commander-In-Chief Barack “I have no clue what I’m doing but I’ll be damned if I’ll allow myself to be criticized by underlings” Obama: A source tells The Associated Press that President Barack Obama | Read More »

Gen. Stanley McChrystal; placed in a no-win position by his CinC?

Via a series of Tweets by Fox White House correspondent Major Garrett; An article due out at Rolling Stone magazine later this week is previewed by an AP piece at FoxNews.com describing how the embattled General McChrystal receives little to no support from the Administration nor those chosen by the Obama White House to work with the General. WASHINGTON — The top U.S. war commander | Read More »
