In Defense of Michele Bachmann
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 14th at 05:35 PM |
I am getting a lot of angst in my inbox already about Michele Bachmann. It is sooooo predictable as to be pathetic. Michele Bachmann is weighing down Rick Perry and therefore helping MItt Romney. So Bachmann should get out. Friends, it could be that Rick Perry is weighing down Michele Bachmann, so he should get it out. In fact, neither is true. Both have a | Read More »
The Horserace for July 7, 2011
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 7th at 12:00 PM |
IA Caucus: Feb. 6, 2012 NH Primary: Feb. 14, 2012 (expected) SC Primary: TBD NV Caucus: Feb. 18, 2012 Michele Bachmann has caused a mystery and a feeding frenzy in the press. What’s her number? Not her phone number. Her bank balance. It is the big question in Washington and in political circles across the nation — how much money has Michele Bachmann raised? Sources | Read More »

Michele Bachmann: Don’t Forget Obamacare
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | June 30th at 03:20 PM |
The most effective proposal for dealing with the debt ceiling vote that has the backing of conservatives is the Cut, Cap, and Balance plan brought forth by the RSC. Accordingly, virtually every major conservative organization has coalesced around a pledge forcing all members of Congress to support the plan as a condition to raising the debt ceiling. The presidential candidates are also being recruited to | Read More »
We need real, useful primary polling
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | June 30th at 08:00 AM |
So Fox News put out a new poll of the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. It’s a typical poll in many ways, but Fox’s bit of analysis got me to thinking: Polls like this favor frontrunners and likely skew the race.

Michele Bachmann Sets A Very High Bar at Right Online #RO11
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 18th at 01:28 PM |
Michele Bachmann was scheduled to speak for 17 minutes at Right Online. She took an extra 18 minutes and 30 seconds. The whole speech felt like it was only a few minutes. It was funny, fascinating, informative, and powerful. She set the bar very, very high for other candidates. Her tax lawyer background showed in her speech, as did her faith. She used a dollar | Read More »

Big News From Camp Bachmann
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 6th at 03:10 PM |
Michele Bachmann is bring Ed Rollins on board to run her Presidential campaign. This is big and significant news. Rollins was Ronald Reagan’s campaign manager in 1984, a fact downplayed by a lot of people who think Reagan’s landslide in 1984 had nothing to do with Rollins. Whether you are impressed by that or not, pay attention to the next one: Rollins took Mike Huckabee’s | Read More »
This Week’s Horse Race
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 1st at 01:40 PM |
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done one of these. A lot has happened since then. Let’s get started and, again, we’ll go in alphabetical order. Just note that I’m putting Sarah Palin and Rick Perry outside the list, since they are just speculation right now and I want to deal with them first, above the fold. Sarah Palin I still think Sarah Palin | Read More »

Off to the races with the horses we have
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 23rd at 05:00 AM |
On Saturday, several thousand people showed up in the humid heat of Atlanta to hear Herman Cain announce his bid for the Presidency. Today, in Iowa, Tim Pawlenty will announce his bid. If you have not seen it already, go watch Pawlenty’s preview. I am actually floored it is so well done. Newt Gingrich is already in. Mitt Romney will make a big splash soon | Read More »
The Horse Race for This Week
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 19th at 03:04 PM |
I think I’ll start doing this every week. The feedback, both from you guys and from others who are trying to keep up with the pulse within the conservative grassroots has been very positive. Feel free to disagree. I’m just giving you my honest take on where I see the 2012 horse race right now. Last week I took a bit of heat from Dan | Read More »
I Stand With Michele Bachmann
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | April 17th at 09:51 PM |
Just the other day I said the answer is “no” to the question “should the House GOP replace John Boehner.” The more we’ve found out about that budget deal, the more I think I might be wrong. Maybe we need Speaker Bachmann instead. On Friday, Robert Costa at National Review, got some insider dirt on the House GOP meeting that happened behind closed doors without | Read More »

Marco Rubio Says No To The Tea Party Caucus, Michele Bachmann Invites “Trouble”
By: Melissa Clouthier (Diary) | January 24th at 12:34 PM |
Last week, Senator Rubio debated the necessity of the Tea Party Caucus. I wrote what I saw as the pros and cons of joining. It seems that he’s decided to skip it. Javier Majarres reports Rubio’s comment: ” Why do we need something in addition to the steering committee?…My concern is that politicians all of a sudden start co-opting the mantle of “Tea Party”. If | Read More »
Michele Bachmann Is On the Money
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 23rd at 05:00 AM |
Michele Bachmann, for reasons unknown to me, decided to sit down with the BBC. God bless her for evangelizing and bringing the message of freedom even to places like that. But she is being attacked and distorted for what she said in this interview. The interviewer kept asking Congresswoman Bachmann if she stood by a 2008 statement that Barack Obama was anti-American. What she responded | Read More »
