What to look forward to this week in Michigan politics
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. Happy Monday, pals! Great weekend, wasn’t it? Hopefully you had a chance to catch up on some sleep, catch up with some friends, catch a football game or two on Sirius (minor set-back for the Broncos but I’m still anticipating a Superbowl Championship this year) and avoided catching up on any work. And yeah, I know, not all of | Read More »
Everything you ever wanted to know about the GOP Energy Revolt
I put this together based on footage I shot from Congress on Friday. You can download the mp4 here.

Obama, Levin, Brewer et al Enabling Kilpatrick with Silence
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. What’s a Michigan Democrat have to do to be directly criticized by other Michigan Democrats, get thrown in jail? Well, no. Apparently even that isn’t enough for most of them to sever ties or condemn the Mayor of Detroit for any of his sundry adventures with criminality (allegedly). And with every lukewarm statement about the importance of “letting the | Read More »
Vacationing Nanny Pelosi Sends in the Clowns
Increasing her carbon footprint hawking her little-perused and even lesser-purchased book, vacationing U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has refused to reconvene Congress to hold a vote for lower gas prices and, instead, has issued a directive to her Politburo Palace Guard called MoveOn.Org: “Send in the Clowns!” From disparate parts unknown, Pelosi’s extremist heralds of higher gas prices descended upon my district office where – | Read More »
Breaking: Obama Fundraiser headed to jail!
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. So Kwame’s going to jail, huh? How long, do you figure, before Barack Obama tells us that this is “not the Kwame Kilpatrick I know?” From the sounds of these remarks (delivered last May to the Detroit Economic Club) the Barackstar might have to do some back-peddling and soon. You can check out the entire speech and the Democratic | Read More »
MoveOn protests McCotter (MI – 11th)
Just got an email from Rep. McCotter (MI-11th district) that Moveon.org is protesting at his Livonia office this noon (Thursday, Aug. 7). Unfortunately I am at work and a good drive away, but I will update if I can find anything on the local news. I don’t see anything on McCotter’s website so I am copying the email below the fold.

Remember a few years ago, sitting in front of the TV watching the Governor talk, John Cherry smiling like an out-of-touch fool behind her, laying out how swell Michigan’s economy was and promising real improvements in the coming years? What they didn’t tell us was that their devastatingly misguided | Read More »
MI:13 Congressional, 50th House District Vote for Change!
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. The victory celebration had to wait until early Wednesday morning. Long-time incumbent Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick snuck by a pair of challengers at the polls yesterday but the race was so tight nearly 80% of the precincts were reporting before there was any indication Kwame’s mom had actually held on through the storm. Meanwhile, in Davison (the 50th House | Read More »
Go VOTE (after you read this)!
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. How often do we decry the lack of good people in politics? The run to the center by men and women who claimed to be on the right? Folks abandoning their principles and going along to get along? We complain about it more often than it happens but that’s only a reflection of how much we care about | Read More »
ELECTION PROJECTION 8/4: McCAIN 265 OBAMA 273
All one has to do is read the recent releases from Rasmussen, SurveyUSA and Quinnipiac to see that McCain has been gaining considerable ground, even in Democratically “safe” states.Hes now up again in Nevada as the trend average moves back nationally in his favor, he’s managed to cut Obamas leads in Colorado, Michigan and New Hampshire, and has strengthened in several key red states. Obama flip-flops again, now taking advice from RightMichigan.com (Which is pretty cool!)
Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com. Oh what a difference a week’s worth of lousy polling makes. Turns out it’s capable of taking the Democratic nominee for the Presidency of the United States of America and convincing him to follow the advice, nay, demands of RightMichigan.com. Did you notice how Barack Obama couldn’t have cared less about Michigan back when he was consistently polling six | Read More »
The U.S. House Republicans’ “Speak-In”
It was as unexpected as it was unprecedented in U.S. House history. After already barely passing a resolution to give themselves a five week paid vacation, the Democrat Congress sneakily adjourned for the day in a craven attempt to escape Washington without a real vote to address America’s high gas prices and energy security. It also, they laughed, would silence Republican members from discussing America’s | Read More »
