    Chris Christie is Intellectually Dishonest

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  October 11th at 06:01 PM  |

Earlier today, Chris Christie endorsed Mitt Romney for president, describing him as “a real hero in Republican circles.”  During his announcement, he disparaged conservatives who oppose Romneycare, by suggesting that any attempt to compare it to Obamacare is “completely intellectually dishonest.”  Governor Christie might want to look in the mirror or step down as a prominent spokesman for the Republican Party. Any attempt to suggest | Read More »

Checking the national polling ahead of the debate

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  October 11th at 03:00 PM  |

With a new debate coming, now’s a great time to check the latest national polling. Of course, individual states matter, but this early the national polling is critical for gauging how well the candidates will be able to stay in the race. To summarize, we’ve seen no changes since Herman Cain surged just ahead of Rick Perry. Mitt Romney still leads.

New NBC poll suggests polling caucuses is hard

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  October 11th at 01:30 PM  |

I’m not too surprised when I see Herman Cain doing better than Rick Perry in recent polling, but I was surprised to see Ron Paul beating Rick Perry in NBC’s new poll of Iowa. So, I started getting ready to post… and found out there’s more than meets the eye here. Caucuses are apparently hard to poll.

    Romney’s Own Words

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 10th at 11:27 AM  |

The Perry campaign has a new web ad out. No word on whether it will be used as a television ad, but we can get a sense of the campaign’s punches from this. Mitt Romney’s campaign says Perry is desperate. Given Perry’s polling lately, that could be an angle — though $15 million on hand will help him get back up in the polls. The | Read More »

This Primary Season Is All About Not Romney

    By: Bill S (Diary)  |  October 5th at 10:00 PM  |

Every week brings another controversy or another debate – and another Republican POTUS front-runner.  And once again, the GOP base continues its eternal (and fruitless) search for the Perfect Conservative.  Each time a candidate peaks, they stick their foot in their mouth or some issue about their past pops up and they drop in the polls in favor of the next flavor of the month. | Read More »

Analyzing the top three as two more polls boost Cain

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  October 5th at 02:00 PM  |

Two more polls are out that absolutely confirm Cain is a serious force in the Republican Presidential race right now. Quinnipiac and CBS leave no more doubt, as the last four polls have all put Herman Cain at 17%, right up alongside Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. I’m going to try to break down these numbers get a good snapshot of this Cain moment.

Dear Candidates: An Invitation to Have A Conversation

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 5th at 11:36 AM  |

Below is a letter that will be going out to each campaign for President from me. The campaigns will get additional information beyond what is in this public release, including more expansive information on the media, broadcast information, contact information, etc. But we want to make this available publicly because of the number of inquiries we’re all getting about what we are doing and also | Read More »

David Brooks Likes The Crease of Mitt Romney’s Pants

By: Dan McLaughlin (Diary)  |  October 4th at 02:00 PM  |

I could hardly sum up more pithily the problem with Mitt Romney’s candidacy in four words than “David Brooks loves him.” Brooks’ column today is revealingly out of step with the party and the nation Romney is seeking to lead. Let’s start with what’s missing from Brooks’ description of the job Romney is applying for: [T]he challenges ahead are technically difficult. There’s a reason that | Read More »

Confirmed: We have a three way race for now

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  October 4th at 01:30 PM  |

First it was one national poll, and we could wait and see. Then it was a pair of state polls, and we could hold on for one more national poll. But after the new ABC News/Washington Post poll, there’s no denying it. For now we have a three way Republican Presidential race between Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, and Herman Cain.

Florida gives a boost to Herman Cain

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  October 3rd at 07:30 PM  |

Last week’s shock poll bringing Herman Cain into third place needed confirmation before we could be sure that Cain was a serious contender. Two new polls of Florida Republicans by SurveyUSA for WFLA and by War Room Logistics seem to provide that confirmation and more: Both put Herman Cain in second in the key early primary state.

    I Hate You

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 3rd at 11:50 AM  |

Since I managed to make just about every Sarah Palin fan on earth mad on Friday by quoting Palin, I decided I would go on and make everyone else mad too. I keep getting the “you’re Rick Perry’s guy” stuff now, which follows on the “you’re Tim Pawlenty’s guy” and the “you’re MIchele Bachmann’s guy” and the “you’re Herman Cain’s guy”, all of with mix | Read More »

Fox: A new look at Herman Cain

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  September 28th at 08:30 PM  |

Today’s been the single biggest polling day in my estimation since the 2010 elections. Three major releases all containing interesting data. The third and most surprising of those comes from Fox News, which shows Herman Cain not just in third place, but taking a top-tier position usually held in recent weeks by Michele Bachmann or Ron Paul.

    As I Was Saying

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  September 28th at 07:04 PM  |

I said yesterday that Herman Cain is now the center of gravity for the GOP’s 2012 candidates. Today, Fox News shows a meteoric rise for Herman Cain. And it is pretty much all at Rick Perry’s expense. Perry is down 10 points to 19%. Herman Cain has skyrocketed to 17%. They are in statistical tie with Mitt Romney who is at 23%.
