Washington Post-ABC News poll finds Romney leads

The new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds Romney leads 47 to 46 percent among likely voters. Yes, that is well within the poll’s 4 percent margin of error, but like previous Post-ABC polls, this skewed poll greatly under sampled Republicans giving it a Democrat-leaning bias.

This poll’s sample was 31 percent Democrat, 22 percent Republican, and 39 percent Independent. We’ve been through this before. As mentioned in connection with a previous ABC News/Washington Post poll, based upon exit polling, the 2008 electorate was 39 percent Democrat, 32 percent Republican, and 29 percent Independent. In 2010, it was 35 percent Democrat, 35 percent Republican, and 29 percent Independent.

It’s still all about the economy.

Not the Behavior of a Winning Campaign

The media keeps showing its rear end. Let me just make that clear. If you are a competent reporter, I’m not sure how you cannot be embarrassed by the majority of those in your profession right now covering politics. From Mark Halperin, to Jake Tapper, to Chuck Todd, more journalists are actually now admitting just how pliable the media is when it comes to Barack | Read More »

The First Likely Voter Poll from Fox News Portends Mostly Good News

Earlier this afternoon Fox News posted their first likely voter poll of the campaign, which shows Mitt Romney leading Barack Obama 45%-44%.  Many of us were wondering how the polling would look once the pollsters switch to a likely voter screen – a model which is almost always more favorable to Republicans than a poll of registered voters.  This poll of 1,007 likely voters is | Read More »

Romney Must Cease and Desist From Ethanol Mandate

Earlier today, Mitt Romney unveiled his comprehensive energy plan he will pursue as president.  Energy policy provides Republicans with their most potent weapon against Obama in this campaign.  Nothing emblematizes Obama’s socialist, anti-prosperity style of governance more than his destructive energy policy compromised of a “none-of-the-above” approach.  Well, none of the above except for green energy.  To that end, Romney’s biggest ace in the hole | Read More »

    Obama Supports Traffic Congestion

Through Obama’s truculent special interest campaign of division and derision, he is rapidly exhausting his check list of demographic groups.  He’s already targeted women, Hispanics, gays, blue collar workers, and all sorts of minorities.  Now he is going after the ‘commuter vote’ in northern Virginia. Politico is reporting that Obama is up with a 60-second radio spot in northern Virginia claiming that Paul Ryan’s budget | Read More »

The Strategic Failure of the Obama campaign

We are one week into Mitt Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan. A number of polls are coming out telling a variety of stories about what it means. But one thing is clear: Barack Obama’s campaign has had several significant strategic failures this summer. And they failed to define Paul Ryan out of the gate with their Mediscare tactics. And they failed to define Mitt Romney | Read More »

Mitt Romney’s right hook at Chillicothe.

If you missed it: Mitt Romney put together and delivered a very good speech tonight in Chillicothe, Ohio.  I’ll be putting up the video as soon as I find it (and the prepared remarks after the fold).  But the gist of it was that the Romney-Ryan campaign has no intention of allowing Obama-Biden to define unchallenged Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, the Republican party, conservatism in | Read More »

The Romney campaign has released a powerful new television ad contrasting the Romney/ Ryan plan, which strengthens Medicare and protects the commitments made to current seniors, against Obama’s $716 billion cuts from Medicare. Watch the new ad, called “Paid In.”:

Romney campaign continues excellent Ryan roll out

As part of the Romney campaign’s very well executed roll out of Congressman Paul Ryan as Romney’s vice-presidential running mate, the Republican National Committee released its “Big Solutions” video. The new video showcases the Romney-Ryan America’s comeback team. After four years of a weak economy, soaring deficits and misplaced priorities, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are dedicated to bringing America back. In a statement, RNC | Read More »

Michelle Obama Poisons America’s Food Supply. Gives Kids Listeria.

Michelle Obama has poisoned the nation’s food supply and potentially given listeria to America’s children, according to press reports. Food inspectors have discovered listeria in packaged apple slices destined for McDonald’s, Burger King, and various grocery stores. It was Michelle Obama’s push for healthier eating that led fast food restaurants to begin including apple slices in their kids’ meals. Now, you and I may think | Read More »

    Paul Ryan: Risk and Opportunity

So, will Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan as VP help or hinder his chances to defeat Obama?  That is the million dollar question Republican pundits and grassroots activists are frantically asking this week. One serious flaw with much of the post-analysis of any VP selection during a presidential campaign is the singular focus on the pick himself without any regard for the top of the | Read More »

    More on the Winning Argument

In USA Today, Instapundit Glenn Reynolds quotes Iowahawk: “Paul Ryan represents Obama’s most horrifying nightmare: Math.” Let me break the math down for you. If Barack Obama gets his way and raises taxes on everyone making $250,000.00 a year or more, the amount of money he brings in will not close his own budget deficit. Nevermind the national debt — he won’t close this year’s | Read More »

    The Argument

Saturday on Twitter, my buddy Tom Crowe summed up what the two Presidential campaigns are all about: So #2012election comes down to GOP: “We trust you.” vs. Dems: “Trust us.” — Tom Crowe (@TomCrowe) August 11, 2012 This should not be a hard sell.
