“Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead!”
It appears that Obama is channeling his inner David Farragut when it comes to healthcare reform. The Admiral’s now legendary cry, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead,” worked well in the Battle of Mobile Bay, but will the same approach work in the battle for health care reform? After all, Farragut was able to keep the vast majority of his forced intact – with all | Read More »
Massa: Pelosi, Hoyer Forcing My Resignation to Pass Health Care
New York Democratic Rep. Eric Massa may not be ready to leave Washington, hinting in an interview he may rescind his resignation, scheduled for 5 P.M. Monday. On his weekly radio show, Massa, one of thirty-nine Democrats who voted against last year’s health care bill, said House leadership was orchestrating a public relations campaign against him for the sake of accelerating his resignation and lowering | Read More »
What’s Behind Window Number One?
It’s getting to be a little like a ‘Price is Right’ scheme. Behind this window we have… and behind window #2… The difference is that no one knows how to score this one yet. There’s a bunch of hype going on, primarily by a not-quite-panicky Democratic leadership. But the Republicans aren’t that far behind in taking advantage of the situation either. With President Obama telling | Read More »
Abortion May Kill ObamaCare
The abortion issue may take down ObamaCare, even if Congress pulls the Health Care Nuclear Option in a desperate attempt to pass the bill. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) declared yesterday that “several Democrats who voted for it the House would oppose it next time around” without removing pro-abortion language in the Senate passed ObamaCare bill. This is a big problem for the proponents of ObamaCare, because under | Read More »

America:”Screw You!”; Obama:”I Want It Now!”
You could tell just as soon as his props started filing out, most likely low-level White House staffers in the obligatory white lab coats left over from the rose garden hoopla a while ago. You could tell by the overbearing look of arrogance on his face. You could tell from the first sentence out of his mouth that there wouldn’t be a word of truth | Read More »
If Dr. Seuss looked at Obama, oh the things he’d see!
In celebration of the National Association of Education’s yearly “Read Across America” project, which started Tuesday, March 2, First Lady Michelle Obama appeared at the Library of Congress and read to a select group of youngsters Dr. Seuss’ classic children’s story, The Cat In the Hat. Her choice was appropriate enough considering that Tuesday also marked the good doctor’s birthday, who would have been 106 | Read More »
Is Nancy Pelosi Trying to Lose the House?
Ask yourself this question: if Nancy Pelosi were trying to lose control of the House, what would she do differently? Elevating her extreme liberal California pal Pete Stark to temporary leadership of the Ways and Means Committee is a great way to further alienate independents and divide Democrats. Stark is next in line for the post in seniority, but his maverick personality had led some | Read More »
Obama Pushes Health Care Nuclear Option
President Obama is advocating the use of the budget reconciliation process to pass ObamaCare through the House and Senate. This procedure also referred to as the ObamaCare Nuclear Option and the Health Care Nuclear Option because the liberals are using this procedure as a means to get around the filibuster in the Senate. This same President Obama who opposed the Nuclear Option in 2005 as a back bench Senator.
Democrat Killing Field – The Pelosi Delusion.
Calling for all ‘loyal’ party zealots to perform ritual seppuku on the Capitol steps, the House Madam has thrown down the gauntlet and stated unequivocally that we shall have a bill! Obama will have the ‘final’ version tweaked this week with a transparent veneer of some Republican ideas of no substance or consequence…the classic leftist window dressing. Pelosi attempted on Sunday, in an ABC interview | Read More »
Pelosi, Obama Split on Rangel
While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may be reticent to drain the swamp and admonish Representative Charley Rangel for recent ethics violations, President Barack Obama has, in typical Obama fashion, thrown the scandal-plagued New York Democrat under the bus, reports the New York Daily News. In recent days, a growing choir of Democrats have begun echoing GOP demands that Rangel surrender his chairmanship of the powerful | Read More »
Rep. Charles Rangel (D, NY) violated ethical rules.
Not a good time for Speaker Nancy Pelosi: The House ethics committee has found Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel, a New York Democrat, violated House rules by failing to properly disclose financial details of trips to the Caribbean, senior congressional officials said Thursday. After several months of investigation, the ethics panel determined Mr. Rangel didn’t inform the ethics committee of the corporate source of | Read More »
Congressional Democrats still wondering who the sucker was at yesterday’s summit.
When Hot Air and the Daily Beast are giving the same review – Republicans looked good, the President looked all right, other Democrats looked bad – you have to end up wondering whether the President actually minds. Jonah Goldberg fairly accurately sums up what Obama has to work with, after all: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi relied on the Democrats’ favorite rhetorical gambit: policy-by-anecdote. Invoking the | Read More »
Health Care Nuclear Option Shows Contempt for Public Opinion
ObamaCare is not popular. The people don’t want it. The people have rejected it. Yet President Barack Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) are going to ram it down the throats of the American people using a special Congressional procedure that avoids a filibuster in the Senate – The Health Care Nuclear Option. The Obama Administration and Leaders in | Read More »

Where the Rhetoric Meets the Road
It is an unfortunate rule of politics that you must always watch what they do, not what they say. Words are simply pawns in a much larger chess game. Actions are the queens that go in for the checkmate. Under this logic it is easy to see why President Obama has recently played the health care game of talking up a bipartisan health care summit | Read More »
