REDSTATE New Mexico

Meet New Mexico’s liberal Tim Keller, before he becomes fake-moderate Tim Keller.

By: Moe Lane (Diary)  |  May 17th at 01:30 PM  |

Well, let us not ignore the upcoming election cycle simply because the Obama administration has decided to go utterly mad this week*. Below for your dubious delectation is a video from the New Mexico Republican party on one Tim Keller, who is being pushed out as a stealth liberal challenger to Governor Susana Martinez next year. I say “stealth” because – well, watch: Short version | Read More »

Corrupt Dem legislator makes racist attack on Susana Martinez

By: Soren Dayton (Diary)  |  December 15th at 02:44 PM  |

There’s an interesting scandal right now in New Mexico right now. You see, the New Mexico constitution tries to stop corruption, a real problem in the  state as the Economist recently noted, by requiring that state legislators cannot draw a salary from other sources during the legislative session. But Channel KRQE has reported that there is a set of legislators who do not abide by | Read More »

Jeff Bingaman (D, NM) cuts and runs.

By: Moe Lane (Diary)  |  February 18th at 02:00 PM  |

Five terms is apparently enough *.  Frankly, it’s more than enough for a lot of Senators out there, but that’s just my opinion. Contra Chris Cizzilla , though, Obama’s 15 point victory in 2008 is not the only thing to consider about New Mexico: it’s that in 2010 the GOP took the governorship and lieutenant governorship, flipped a House seat, and came pretty close to | Read More »

Diane Denish (D CAND, NM-GOV) smeared by own attack ad?

By: Moe Lane (Diary)  |  September 10th at 10:00 AM  |

The very short version: the NEA put up an attack ad for Denish and against frontrunner Susana Martinez that featured a teacher who proceeded to badmouth Martinez’s education strategy. The only problem? Martinez happens to have been the prosecutor who put said teacher’s husband away for 23 years for kidnapping – something that was not exactly brought up in the first campaign ad, and which | Read More »

    Dueling polls in New Mexico

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  July 27th at 03:30 PM  |

From Unlikely Voter: Much like New Hampshire I’ve covered previously, New Mexico was the site of big wins for Democrats in recent years, wiping out the Republican Party. But now a SurveyUSA poll for KOB of the first Congressional District has Democrat Martin Heinrich so worried, he’s put out an internal poll in response.

Neck and Neck in New Mexico

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  June 24th at 02:42 PM  |

Via Real Clear Politics we now turn to this Magellan Strategies poll of the New Mexico Governor’s race. New Mexico is a swingy state, capable of going with either party for Senate, Governor, or President, that swung sharply against Republicans in recent years. But right now the race for Governor is nearly even.

    Governors matter.

By: Neil Stevens (Diary)  |  May 28th at 02:31 PM  |

At RedState we’ve hammered for a long time the idea that your local politics matter. We also give plenty of attention to federal elections for the House, the Senate, and of course the President. But governors matter, too. The next governor of South Carolina will affect us all. As will Georgia’s, Ohio’s, and Oregon’s. It doesn’t matter where you live. These Governors, as well as | Read More »

Name That Party: Top NM Dem Sentenced, Party Affiliation Deep Sixed

By: Warner Todd Huston (Diary)  |  March 20th at 05:11 AM  |

Manny Aragon was one of New Mexico’s most powerful law makers and power brokers. A former Senate president, Aragon was this week convicted and given a 67 month sentence for lining his pockets and that of his co-conspiritors with millions in fraudulently billed state contracting money. While his “iconic” status is mentioned and his long standing position as a “Senate leader” is dutifully chronicled, his | Read More »
