Carol Browner behind Interior moratorium lie?

Back in June reports came out suggesting that Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar had lied in a report on the Gulf Coast spill by claiming that a panel of outside exports had peer-reviewed the report’s conclusions, which included a job-killing moratorium on offshore drilling.  After this came out, the Interior Secretary had to retract and disavow any nefarious intent on the administration’s behalf; and | Read More »

Democrats suppressing GOP visits to Gulf.

(Via Instapundit) It’s the little things that underscore the pettiness that’s infesting the Democratic party’s leadership these days: Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) wanted to fly 10 lawmakers down to the Gulf of Mexico to see the damage caused by BP’s gigantic oil spill first hand. House Democrats said no.

    Malice/Stupidity Watch: Obamaspill edition.

This article by Dick Morris on Alabaman problems with regard to Obamaspill is like Problems With Big Government 120: According to state disaster relief officials, Alabama conceived a plan — early on — to erect huge booms offshore to shield the approximately 200 miles of the state’s coastline from oil. Rather than install the relatively light and shallow booms in use elsewhere, the state (with | Read More »

Pensacola Beach closed due to Obamaspill.

Heckuva job there, Barry. A popular section of Pensacola Beach has been closed because of oil that washed ashore there. Government officials closed about a quarter-mile section of Casino Beach on Thursday. Thick pools of oil washed ashore there Wednesday. Via Gateway Pundit, via Instapundit. But never fear: the White House in on the case!

Meet Hunt Downer (R CAND, LA-03).

Hunt is one of the candidates running for Charlie Melancon’s seat in LA-03: the district is smack dab in the middle of Obamaspill, and as you can imagine, the candidate has views on that. Hunt’s a former general in the LA National Guard and state official, which gives him a pretty interesting perspective on this mess: His site is here. Moe Lane Crossposted to Moe | Read More »

    Plug the hole.

I don’t know if Frank Luntz’s focus groups are what you would call reliable, but they’re rarely dull. And this one is pretty darn ornery over the way that the administration is handling Obamaspill. Via The Right Scoop, via AoSHQ – who also has some very useful advice to Republican legislators on how to deal with the President’s attempts to redefine ‘success’ on this issue | Read More »

So, how bad was the Obamaspill speech last night?

Well, don’t ask me*: ask Jason Linkins of the Huffington Post.  Yes.  The Huffington Post. President Barack Obama took to the Oval Office to address a nation worried to death over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, a location used so much more often by Saturday Night Live than by actual presidents that my brain actually released a small dollop of dopamine in anticipation of comedic | Read More »
