Peggy Noonan, Nate Silver & Punditry
By: Dan McLaughlin (Diary) | May 23rd at 04:31 PM |
Nate Silver kicked up a minor fuss last Friday with yet another NY Times column deriding the Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan. There’s less than meets the eye to the specifics of this particular dustup, but what’s interesting is Silver’s ongoing critique of Noonan and what it says about both of them. For today, I’ll focus here mainly on Noonan. Assume A Can Opener Noonan’s | Read More »
How The GOP Must Restore The Republic

Sometimes the first step in building a thing of beauty is to dynamite the ugly, dying strip mall that occupies the real estate you want to build upon. We, the American Conservative Movement can rebuild once the junk gets cleared away. We just have to be ready, and we just have to avoid bailing the Progressives out of their own state-fueled death spiral of non-sustainability.
Brett Stevens of Amerika.org shows us how our society currently fulfills Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity.
Currently, our society is chasing its own tail into the abyss. The books give us certain rules and facts, and we follow those; when that doesn’t work out, we redouble our efforts using the same rules and facts. Promoted from Diaries – DM I had a novel experience last Thursday–I had lunch with my boss in our office conference room, not as we have untold numbers of times, but as a blogger hoping to get a question in. In a way it was a lunch more than four years in the making.
Peggy Noonan Heads Home

I have a love – hate relationship with Peggy Noonan…there-it’s out now. During the early to middle Bush years we were like peas and carrots, Peggy and I. Mid to late years, and her anti-Iraq equivocation and left-lurches to the dark side? Not so much. Early Obama? Nope…not at all; she was chillin’ in Berkely, and I was driving around in circles on my red | Read More »
‘He was supposed to be competent.’ Wait, what?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 30th at 03:42 PM |
That’s the title of a Peggy Noonan piece, and Joy McCann (Little Miss Attila) has some comments about the stars – or scales – falling from Peggy’s eyes: …she, Ann Althouse, and Megan McArdle will have to deal with it for the rest of their lives. Those three women have all been an intellectual blessing to public discourse in this country, but they all succombed | Read More »
