Issa Threatens July 4 Ethics Probe over Sestak Bribery Claim
By: James Richardson (Diary) | May 22nd at 11:29 PM |
In the wake of Tuesday’s Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary, a top House GOP legislator is renewing his call for an ethics probe into allegations the White House offered Rep. Joe Sestak an administration post in exchange for foregoing his primary bid against Beltway-endorsed Sen. Arlen Specter. California Rep. Darrell Issa, the ranking Republican member of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee, said Sestak, who | Read More »
In Summation
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 18th at 11:43 PM |
Arlen Specter is no more. Hahahahahahaha. This makes the fourth person in a statewide race to lose after Barack Obama campaigned for him. Trey Grayson went down in flames to Rand Paul, who openly embraced the tea party label. Tim Burns lost the special election in PA-12, but will now run in the general election for November against the Democrat. It is important to note | Read More »
Election Results Open Thread
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 18th at 06:23 PM |
Today is a big primary day. I just got off the phone with Tim Burns. He says he feels confident, things look good on the ground, and the Critz campaign has a small election day presence. I’ll be on John King USA starting at 7pm ET on CNN tonight to talk about the election results as they come in. Feel free to tune in. Otherwise, | Read More »
PA-12 special election today.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 18th at 07:55 AM |
Also the Pennsylvania, [Arkansas,] and Kentucky primaries, but hold that thought for a moment. There is a special election today between Tim Burns and Mark Critz. The Republican candidate is fighting a two-to-one registration advantage, a contested primary on the other side scheduled to boost the other side’s turnout, and a media environment that will grudgingly score a Republican win while eagerly waiting to score | Read More »

Two days out on PA-12.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 16th at 10:36 PM |
Finally got notified of the PPP poll for PA-12: 48/47 Burns/Critz. There’s been very little movement in the race since PPP polled it a month ago. The main difference is that negative campaigning has driven up both candidates’ negatives by 10-11 points. Where Burns’ favorability was a net +19 in April it’s now just +8. And where Critz was previously at a net +7 it’s | Read More »

By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | May 12th at 03:37 PM |
We’re less than a week away from primary election day in Pennsylvania, so let’s take a look at the latest polling news from the House Special election to replace Jack Murtha, the Senate primary for Arlen Specter’s seat, and a surprisingly interesting House race.

Americans for Prosperity comes out swinging on Net Neutrality
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | May 11th at 10:17 PM |
Americans for Prosperity, one of the Beltway area groups that really “gets it,” has come out hard against Net Neutrality and Title II classification of ISPs. They’re actually running television ads on the matter. What’s most interesting to me though is that their ad has three different versions. There’s the generic one above, but their YouTube Channel also shows up with two specialized ones: one | Read More »
How does Sestak match up against Toomey?
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | May 11th at 02:30 PM |
Thanks to Arlen Specter’s collapse, it’s now more than academic to see how Joe Sestak matches up against Pat Toomey in the Pennsylvania Senate rate. So, on to Rasmussen’s poll from the 6th.
Eight days and counting on PA-12.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 10th at 09:49 PM |
Mike Pence went to PA-12 today to help Tim Burns. Can you help Tim, too? Remember: this is a district that the Democrats cannot afford to lose. And they know it. And they will hate losing it on the 18th. But only if we keep up the pressure.
Rasmussen: Sestak/Specter 47/42.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 10th at 10:31 AM |
Nobody loves a turncoat. Congressman Joe Sestak has moved ahead of incumbent Arlen Specter in their Senate primary match-up with just over a week left before Pennsylvania Democrats go to the polls to pick their nominee. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Democratic Primary voters in the state shows Sestak earning 47% of the vote while Specter picks up 42%. This marks the | Read More »
DSCC spends netroots money… against netroots.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 4th at 03:00 PM |
We already knew that the DSCC had dropped $1 million on keeping the netroot’s candidate down in Ohio: now comes word that they’re doing something similar in Pennsylvania. The DSCC is spending a significant amount of money to ensure a former GOP Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) wins his May 18 primary, sources with knowledge of the move tell Hotline OnCall. One source said the DSCC | Read More »
Tim Burns consolidates his lead
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | May 3rd at 11:28 PM |
It’s late in the day but I know this race is drawing plenty of interest, so here goes. Daily Kos and Research 2000 hit the PA-12 Special Election. This makes two consecutive polls from sources that lean toward the Democrats. But do Republicans have reason to complain?
Pennsylvania Outsleazes the Bill Collector
By: Brian Simpson (Diary) | May 3rd at 04:45 PM |
The state of Pennsylvania has a new commercial out for those who haven’t paid their taxes yet. Just tell me this doesn’t creep you out a little. Now, I don’t doubt for a minute that “Tom” is a fictitious person. However, if he were not, the state of Pennsylvania just used tactics that debt collectors have been barred from using for over 30 years now | Read More »
