America: Taking a Walk on the Wild Side
In 1972 Lou Reed released the classic Take a Walk on the Wild Side. Peaking at #16 on the pop charts, the song described an underground lifestyle that was unknown to most of America and whose subject matter was counter to the prevailing culture. References to transsexuals, male prostitutes, oral sex, and drug usage were each a vignette in the song’s verses. Because Americans were considered | Read More »
Has Nihilism Finally Popped Pop Culture?
What do Pop Stars do these days to be original? They typically are far more cynical than original, so they do what worked for the last 100 years – Épater la bourgeoisie. Yet today; that totally isn’t working. People are less than fascinated when Miley Cyrus demonstrates her favorite bedroom positions on teddy bears. They could care less what Kanye West believes that George W. Bush thinks about Black People. That Kanye’s new sexual toy, Kim Khardashian is one biblical dragon-ride short of being The Harlot of Babylon is not of much interest to the average American.
So the pop-artist experiments, deconstructs and having hit bottom, longs for a sharper shovel. The music, film and filth cease to have any meaning at all. It becomes all Épater la bourgeoisie, all the time. Somewhere in their deluded, fame addicted brains, these people have to know that Johnnie Rotten and the Sex Pistols did it first and did it better.

Where Is The Outrage Over ‘ObamaNation’ Flag?
While thousands gathered at the Lincoln Memorial this past weekend to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington, an American flag was waved with President Obama’s image in place of the 50 stars. Photos of the “Obama flag” were included in the galleries of numerous prominent web sites such as Politico and USA Today. But was the Obama flag just another news photo of the event? | Read More »
Twerking towards Gomorrah
Viewers of the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night were treated to a bizarre dance routine from former Disney child actress Miley Cyrus, which CBS News describes as “one performance that won’t be forgotten very quickly:” Cyrus gave Robin Thicke a lap dance, paraded around with dancing bears, twerked her butt off and grabbed her crotch a few times. Not to mention the tongue. | Read More »
16 Reasons Why Hillary is Poised to Win in 2016
By the standards of “political time” where in one day a candidate can go from frontrunner to underdog, the November 8, 2016 presidential election is decades away. But from this 2013 vantage point all signs point to Hillary Clinton coasting to the Democrat party nomination and winning the White House. As a lifelong Republican I am not pleased with my own prediction – for nothing | Read More »
On The Cover Of A Rolling Stone
The year was 1972 and the Rock Group Dr. Hook paid light-hearted homage to the media presence that was then Rolling Stone Magazine in the video above. Getting your picture on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine was a significant career milestone. It differentiated rock stars from journeyman acts that hadn’t quite made it all the way up the ladder quite yet. In the year AD 2013, it appears the standards have fallen precipitously.
As you can see in the picture above, this month’s issue features a murderous, delusional welfare bum who probably couldn’t figure out how to connect a Fender Strat-O-Caster to it’s attendent amp. Making it to the cover of the Rolling Stone Magazine is yet another place where societal decline has set in and we all have to just accept a certain haunting sense of ennui. We should make allowances for the inevitable lowering of norms that comes with sacrificing previous cultural maxims to the vital and necessary dogmas of multicultural acceptance and diverse, coexistence within…WRRRRIIIPPP!!!!!

Are You Ready for Some Politically Correct Football?
If you’re a sports fan, or even if you’re not, you’ve likely heard about NBA athlete Jason Collins publicly announcing that he’s gay. Of course, gays in professional sports is hardly a revelation, but Collins has the distinction of being the first openly gay athlete who currently plays for a major American team sport. It’s making headlines everywhere, right on up to the cover of | Read More »

Tribal Voting Behavior Means The Republican Party Could Go The Way Of the Whigs
Re-posted from PJ Media When I first moved to Old Town Alexandria, Virginia in 1980 there was a sign on a small office building that said National Headquarters for Veterans of World War I. Driving by that building always left me wondering when this distinguished organization would cease to exist. Sure enough one day the sign was gone, replaced by a shiny new plaque for a law firm. After | Read More »
Do Not Tell Anyone, But Cupcake Sales Can Predict Who Wins The White House – A True Story
Re-posted from PJ Media Last week a Washington D.C. Republican consultant happily told my husband that Romney yard signs had overtaken Obama signs in what is usually his very Democrat leaning, upscale neighborhood in Fairfax County, Virginia. Situated close to our nation’s capitol, Fairfax County is a fierce battleground within a must-win battleground state for both Obama and Romney. After the consultant reported this positive | Read More »
“Why Does My Voting For Romney Have To Be About Race?”
As a result of a stroke my 86 year old mother now resides in a nursing home. Last week a nurse’s aide was in her room when an ad for President Obama appeared on television. (Given that my mother resides in Florida, commercials for President Obama’s re-election appear more frequently than those for erectile dysfunction.) While the ad was running the aide, a woman of | Read More »
Republican Brand Hurts Romney While Obama Wins Culture Wars
Currently the Real Clear Politics electoral map shows President Obama in the lead with 221 electoral votes from states that are either solid, likely or leaning. As most of you know 270 is the number needed to win the presidency. Seeing this chart makes me want to tear my hair out and scream, “What is wrong with you people?” How could Obama be leading 221 | Read More »
