Today in Washington – May 18, 2010

I should rename my post today — “Today in Little Rock, Arkansas” or “Today in Lexington, Kentucky” or even “Today in Pennsylvania” — because all eyes in Washington will be watching to see if incumbent Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and/or Arlen Specter (RD-PA) lose in their respective primaries.  Also, inside the beltway eyes will be on Kentucky to see if Rand Paul, the ultimate outsider, can beat | Read More »

Kentucky Tea Partiers Send Lady Liberty a Message This Tuesday

Weep no more my lady Oh! weep no more today! We will sing one song for the old Kentucky home, For the Old Kentucky Home far away. Tim Duncan wrote this article for Canada Free Press on May 12th, Teapublicanism is on the March. I really enjoyed his analysis of teapartiers, and encourage you to read the entire article. Here is just a taste of | Read More »

    Sorry Trey, Try Again

Now that the DeMint endorsement of Rand Paul and the McConnell endorsement of Trey Grayson have soaked into the bluegrass political landscape, the question is this: whose did more good?I think we now know.Rand Paul is starting the last week of the Kentucky primary 16 points ahead of Trey Grayson.I may need to get up to Bowling Green next week for this.

Everything You Need to Know About Why Voting Rand Paul Makes Sense

Let’s ignore the lies Trey Grayson is telling about Rand Paul and just look at the debate from the other night. This pretty much encapsulates the debate, except it is really hard to convey the total level of smugness that exudes from Trey Grayson. South Park could do a follow up to their smug cloud episode and move to Kentucky where it’d just follow Trey | Read More »

Trey Grayson’s Own Polling Shows Him Losing Ground

There are lots of independent polls out in Kentucky and virtually every single one shows Rand Paul ahead of Trey Grayson. The only poll in the last few months that had Trey Grayson ahead of Rand Paul was Trey Grayson’s own poll. And guess what? According to Grayson’s latest campaign poll, he has lost ground to Paul and they are now tied. This doesn’t help him. Coming on | Read More »

The Good Lord Giveth and the Good Lord Taketh Away

Trey Grayson is getting endorsed by Hal Rogers this morning in Kentucky. The man has been in Congress since 1981. In this election year it might not be the image a Republican would want to have, but Trey Grayson is embracing this endorsement with open arms. There’s just one problem. That’s not the big story in Kentucky today. The big story is James Dobson.Last week, Trey | Read More »

Kentucky’s Republican Secretary of State Thinks Conservative Activists Are Extremists

Another reason I’m with Rand Paul? In an editorial board meeting in Kentucky, Trey Grayson is asked what he thinks about the “extremist,” Jim DeMint. His response? Well, he does not defend DeMint and likeminded conservatives from the “extremist” label. What he does do is go on about how Jim DeMint has been a harsh critic of Mitch McConnell for working with Democrats, then praises McConnell | Read More »

    Rand Paul and Me

I’ve been getting a lot of flack among friends on our side for my support of Rand Paul. It’s understandable. He is Ron Paul’s son. I’m not a Ron Paul fan. Notably, Rand is more often than not accused of taking a position that is not his, but is his father’s.My friend Dan Riehl has captured a lot of it. Erick seems to have decided | Read More »

The Trouble with Trey Grayson: Attacking Conservative Ideas and Sarah Palin

I know some of you have a hard time supporting Rand Paul, mostly because of his dad. In fact, most of the attacks hurled at Rand have been about his father’s positions, confusing the two. To be fair though, I don’t agree with all of Rand’s positions. But let’s look at the NRSC’s favored candidate Trey Grayson for just a minute. The man has refused | Read More »

    Terrific Article on Rand Paul

It is looking more and more like Rand Paul is going to make it through the Kentucky GOP Primary. There is a great article out today that I encourage you to read if you are on the fence. Grayson has attacked Rand Paul as being in favor of abortion and legalizing drugs, perhaps confusing Rand’s positions with those of his even-more-libertarian father. Rand Paul calls | Read More »

    Contra Erick on Rand Paul

Erick wrote a good post yesterday indicating his reasons why he would feel comfortable voting for Rand Paul. As he implied in the post, many (probably most) of us among the contributors here at RedState disagree with Erick on Rand Paul and whether he is a candidate deserving of our support. I am one of those contributors who disagrees very strongly with Erick, and would | Read More »

    On Rand Paul

Were I living in Kentucky on May 18th, I’d willingly and gladly go vote for Rand Paul for the United States Senate. On Sunday, I listed the candidates I was all in for. Rand Paul was not on the list and I’ve gotten a lot of blow back from people for saying I’d support him twitter, but not putting him on that list.I wanted to chat | Read More »

How Rand Paul can win Kentucky, part II

I wrote about Rand Paul‘s chances in Kentucky last month. He’s pulled ahead of Republican primary opponent Trey Grayson, the current Kentucky Secretary of State, and polls better than Democrats, according to Public Policy Polling. Despite a few minor HR setbacks, it appears as though the Paul campaign is on the path to victory. In the last post I gave four bits of advice the Paul | Read More »
