Why Side With Teddy Kennedy?
Why in God’s name would you want to co-sponsor legislation with Teddy Kennedy that will increase the size and scope of the federal government and its regulatory powers? John Cornyn, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins have done so. They have lent their names to legislation sponsored by Teddy Kennedy to give the FDA regulatory oversight of tobacco. I have no problem with taxing tobacco out | Read More »
Rich Democrat Uses Private Healthcare to Put Cancer in Remission. Doesn’t Want You To Do Same.
Senator Edward Kennedy’s cancer is in remission. Through the wonders of the American healthcare system — the finest on earth — Senator Kennedy was able to seek life saving treatment and, through that treatment, have his cancer go in remission. The sad and tragic irony is that when Senator Kennedy returns to work, he will actively work to deny you the access to treatment he | Read More »
Vultures Pick Over Ted Kennedy’s Not-Yet Corpse
Someday, the good Lord will call Ted Kennedy home. We know neither the day, nor the hour. Undoubtedly Kennedy’s loved ones are preparing as they see fit – including fighting amongst themselves over who will get his most cherished possession: Ted Kennedy’s wife, Vicki, and his nephew, former congressman Joe Kennedy, are getting set for a bruising battle over who will succeed the ailing senator, | Read More »
Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead. What about Ted Kennedy?
UPDATED: Hat tip to all the commenters and Caleb who suggest if the Dems are offended, we just call it the Mary Jo Kopechne Memorial Health Care Act. After all, she is already dead. — Erick We can objectively conclude this morning that the Democrats are trying to distract attention from their failures by pointing fingers at Rush Limbaugh. The Caroline Kennedy Fiasco
It has left massive amounts of collateral damage–starting with Caroline Kennedy, of course, continuing with the Governor of New York, and even encompassing the political circle of Senator Kennedy, who is quite mad with his niece. Such is the price, of course, of attempting to loft to great political heights a public figure who is quite clearly unprepared for the rough-and-tumble of politics. What was | Read More »
Senators: Obamacare Will be Ted Kennedy’s Legacy
What’s the best way to pay tribute to a Lion of the Senate? For some, it seems to be to rubber-stamp his top legislative priority when it seems his career in public office is nearing its end: Senators on both sides of the aisle as well as operatives on K Street were candid that [Ted] Kennedy’s half-century push for universal health care could receive a | Read More »
Senator Orrin Hatch supports Eric Holder, not Mitch McConnell
Hatch supports Holder because he likes Obama. On Friday, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell indicated that Obama’s Attorney General pick, Eric Holder, would be the most likely of the Obamakins to be blocked by the minority. “You know, beyond that, I don’t anticipate trouble for the new president’s nominees,” McConnell said on National Public Radio on Friday. “I think most of them are people that | Read More »
BREAKING NEWS: Obama’s Judges Will Be Far, Far Left
This in from Roll Call:Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) is giving up his longtime perch on the Judiciary Committee, Democratic aides said today. He is not giving up his committee chairmanship on Education, just this one. It may be because of his | Read More »
State Department Rumor: Hillary to get the Kennedy Treatment?
There is an unsubstantiated rumor floating around Washington today that last night, Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) called President-Elect Barack Obama and asked that Obama appoint Senator John Kerry (D-EU) Secretary of State so that Governor Deval Patrick could appoint former Congressman Joe Kennedy (D-Venezuela) to Kerry’s seat. The assumption is that then Senator Kennedy’s wife, Victoria Reggie, would be appointed to his seat should he | Read More »
Greasing the Skids for Kennedy Care
National Journal reports that Barack Obama has selected CBO Director Peter Orszag to head up the Office of Management and Budget. Orszag is widely respected on both sides of the aisle for his professionalism and his command of budgetary detail. He’s almost certainly more supportive of expanded government than the typical Red State reader, but at least he’s likely to be a straight shooter. His | Read More »
Ted Kennedy Works for His Legacy
While we continue to pray for Ted Kennedy and his loved ones, his prognosis is apparently not a hopeful one. Nevertheless, the last liberal lion is working on a legacy he can pass on to the next great liberal hope: socialized medicine.
“He’s the Pied Piper for our family.”
So said a lady on the Ted Kennedy tribute video at the DNC tonight. I can only assume she does not know the story of the Pied Piper.
