In Ad, Striking Union Uses Deceptive Scare Tactics On New York City Parents
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | January 18th at 02:45 PM |
In addition to the union stranding 150,000 kids, the ATU has taken to the airwaves with an ad trying to invoke fear in parents and, apparently, trying to get the public on its side. While the ad is professionally produced, for the union to infer in its ad that its drivers don’t have accidents is patently false.

The Union Agenda Part One: So, you think your Right-To-Work state is safe from unions?
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | January 13th at 10:00 PM |
There is, and has been since 2010, a concerted effort by union bosses to get their union-bought cronies in the U.S. Senate to end the filibuster. Why?

Deficit Reduction: Forget the 1%, Government Workers Enjoy Much Better Pay At Your Expense*
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | December 17th at 09:00 AM |

While America is more than $16 trillion in debt, we also have nearly $122 trillion in unfunded liabilities, which no one seems to be focusing on. Right now, every American taxpayer is liable for more than $1 million in unfunded liabilities.

Dog Bites Man. Man Bites Back: The UAW’s King made Michigan’s Right-To-Work bed.
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | December 13th at 10:00 PM |
As union bosses–like Teamsters’ boss Jimmy P. Hoffa–begin to see their financial coffers dwindle next year, they shouldn’t blame Republicans for Michigan’s “civil war.”
It was the UAW’s Bob King who fired the first shot.

SoCal Port Strike Costing $1 Billion Per Day As Union Clerks Turn Down $190,000 Offer
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | December 4th at 10:00 AM |
Among the nation’s shrinking union population, the unionized office workers at Southern California’s ports make more than most actors in the Screen Actors Guild. They make more than union construction workers, truck drivers, school teachers, cops, fire fighters, and just about any other unionized profession you can think of (with the possible exception of sports players). In fact, other than union bosses themselves, it can | Read More »
Let Them Eat Cake: As Hostess Workers Get Hurt, Bakery Union Bosses (& Their Kids) Do Well
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 21st at 09:00 AM |

Eighteen thousand Americans are now without jobs to put bread on their tables (pun intended). Yet, Frank Hurt will not be hurt in the least by the strike he led his members into taking, or the resulting unemployment of both his members, as well as other Hostess employees.

Ironic: Teamsters Called For Secret-Ballot At Hostess While Pushing To Eliminate Secret-Ballots
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 18th at 10:00 AM |
Oddly enough, with 6700 members jobs at stake, the Teamsters rightfully recommended a secret-ballot vote be taken among striking bakers’ union members.
However, while pushing a secret ballot when it served the Teamsters’ interest, the union bosses within the Teamsters’ Marble Palace want to deny everyday Americans their right to vote on unionization via secret ballot.

As Union Bosses Spin Twinkies’ Demise, Bakers’ Union Boss Admits Union Knew Hostess Would Die
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 17th at 06:00 PM |
With the demise of 18,000 jobs weighing on their shoulders (though certainly not their consciousness’) and just in time for the Sunday morning talk shows union bosses are now trying desperately to point fingers at the victim (and Mitt Romney) for the union’s strike that ultimately destroyed Hostess and its 18,000 jobs. This blame game is going on despite the fact that the bakers’ union | Read More »
A Eulogy: The Sad Day A Ding Dong Union Killed Twinkie The Kid
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 16th at 04:00 PM |
The events of this past week have Sno Balled rather quickly and Suzie Q is still in a state of shock. Teamsters are calling the striking bakery union a bunch of Ding Dongs and Ho Ho’s. Yes, it’s true. The great Twinkie is dead. And, it’s no Wonder. Like so many before it, Twinkie the kid has been killed off by a union strike.

Deadline passes on Hostess strike ultimatum: is liquidiation likely?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | November 15th at 11:34 PM |
Very possibly. Background here and here: the short version is that Hostess Foods is in horrible financial shape; it’s in the process of trying to stave off bankruptcy via drastically renegotiated emergency union contracts with the Teamsters and bakers’ unions; the Teamsters took a look at the books, blanched, swallowed hard, and took the deal; the bakers’ unions did not, and decided to go on | Read More »
No Red Tape? Non-Union FEMA Crews, Water and Other Supplies Sit Idle Thanks To Unions & Red Tape
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 12th at 02:00 PM |
It’s been two weeks since Hurricane Sandy killed 113 people, wiped out portions of towns, and knocked out power to millions. It has also been two weeks since Barack Obama pledged, “No bureaucracy. No red tape.” However, according to multiple public and private sources, unions and union-related red tape are causing workers from out of state to be turned back, as well as workers contracted | Read More »

Labor’s Last Stand Before Oblivion
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | November 5th at 07:00 PM |
Until union bosses come up with a new business model, a perpetuation of their ‘business as usual’ approach will see unions dwindle further before they become nothing more than a motley collection of government unions, motley occupiers, aging Marxists, political lobbyists, and a retirees association. And, if that’s all unions are to become, it might just be cheaper to join AARP.

FieldWorks, SEIU, AFL-CIO, Colorado Civic Engagement Roundtable, and Colorado’s ACORN Ground Game
By: Aaron Gardner (Diary) | November 3rd at 05:00 PM |
A coalition of unions has coordinated with FieldWorks, a Washington-based consulting firm, to provide ground support for President Obama and liberal Colorado candidates. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), AFL-CIO and the Colorado Civic Engagement Roundtable have retained FieldWorks, an organization with many similarities to the now-defunct Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), according to documents uncovered by Media Trackers.

Tech at Night: Hurricane Sandy thoughts, Cybersecurity inconsistency from the administration
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | November 1st at 02:00 AM |

Hello all. I was without power for 25 hours after Sandy, and so I’m a bit behind. So tonight’s edition of Tech at Night is going to be put together a bit quickly. Sorry about that. By the way, while obviously a hurricane can take out wireless towers, wireless was vital for keeping me in touch with the world when I was without power at home. It was great. I’m not sure exactly what good FCC monitoring could do though, except to use a crisis to expand the role of the state.
Watch as the administration plays games: on one hand it tries to use Iranian attacks on banks as an excuse to legislate cybersecurity mandates, instead of attacking Iran back, while on the other hand it opposes cybersecurity mandates at the ITU! How about we oppose all cybersecurity mandates, guys?
