Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04) targeted with vicious racist hate mail.
Come, let me reveal a deep, dark secret of the Mia Love campaign: she’s black. Did you care? Can’t say that I care much, either: what I care about is whether she has the resources and ability to defeat Jim Matheson in this year’s UT-04 Congressional race. The possibility is tantalizingly there: and apparently it’s worrying Utahn Democrats. Which is fine… except when Utahn Democrats | Read More »
NRCC’s New Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04) ad: “This is Our America.”
The NRCC has a new campaign ad out for Mia Love, Republican candidate for Utah’s Fourth District: It’s part of the NRCC’s Our America campaign (you can see the trailer for said campaign here), and we’re getting it to our readers hot off of the presses, as it were. Mia, of course, should be familiar to RedState readers (here and here for interviews, and here | Read More »
RS Interview: Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04).
The new Fourth Congressional District in Utah is going to be an interesting battleground: the very, very lonely Democratic incumbent Jim Matheson transferred over to it with what could cruelly, yet fairly, be described as ‘extreme haste.’ Or ‘pure panic.’ Meanwhile, the GOP side had a pretty spirited primary season that eventually resulted in Saratoga Springs mayor Mia Love getting the nod. You may remember | Read More »
Mia Love’s (R CAND, UT-04) Saturday convention speech.
Below is the speech that Mia Love made Saturday, prior to winning the Republican nomination for UT-04 with 70% of the delegate vote. It’s pretty affirmative stuff: it highlights Mia’s life experience as the daughter of immigrants, affirms her American and Utahn values… and rips into Jim Matheson for his refusal to stand up for either, when in the clutch. Well worth watching.
Another Reason to Support Carl Wimmer
Carl Wimmer is running for Congress in Utah and I’m supporting him. He’s got the support of most major conservative groups out there, including Club for Growth. With that much support, it is typical that his opponents are out savaging him. In true liberal fashion, his opponents are attacking the former police officer and landscape company owner because he went to community college. Seriously. Well, | Read More »
The Utah Election
When Orrin Hatch ran for the United States Senate the first time, he campaigned against then Democratic Senator Frank Moss. Hatch traveled Utah asking and answering a simple question: “What do you call a Senator who’s served in office for 18 years?” “You call him home,” he said. That was thirty-six years ago. Orrin Hatch beat Frank Moss and has been in the United States | Read More »
RS Interview: Carl Wimmer (R CAND, UT-04 PRI)
The new Fourth Congressional district in Utah is a matter of some interest to Utahic… Utahian… Utahns… umm, Republicans from Utah; and there are a number of folks competing in the primary. We talked to one of them yesterday: Carl Wimmer. Carl’s a former police officer, [former] [Oops! Fixed] state legislator, and founder of the Patrick Henry caucus: we discussed the race generally, and his | Read More »
Wimmer the One for Women in Utah 4
From the diaries. The conservative voters of the Utah’s new Fourth Congressional District have a tremendous opportunity to choose a candidate who will fight for all of its citizens, but especially women. That candidate is Carl Wimmer and Concerned Women for America is proud to endorse him for Congress. Throughout his career in law enforcement and the state legislature, to say nothing of his own | Read More »
Carl Wimmer is the Winner for UT-4
Editor’s note: In our continuing effort to spotlight conservative fighters running for Congress, I’m posting some more endorsements from The Madison Project. Today’s candidate is Carl Wimmer in Utah’s 4th congressional district. Almost every Republican candidate this season will pledge to repeal Obamacare, but none of them have done more to fight the healthcare behemoth than Carl Wimmer. During his tenure in the Utah House | Read More »
RS at CPAC: Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04 PRI).
We’ve spoken before: Mia is the mayor of Saratoga Springs in the new UT-04 district, and if she wins the primary she hopes to beat Jim Matheson in the general. We spoke for a few minutes at CPAC: Mia’s site is here. I don’t often say this, but if I lived in this district I’d be voting for her. Which is no reflection on the | Read More »
RS Interview: Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04 PRI).
You may remember her from last week: Mia is the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and is now running for the new district created for Utah as a result of the last census. We had the opportunity to talk about the details of the district, plus her thoughts about the best way to represent it: Mia’s site is here. Moe Lane (crosspost)
Introduction to Mia Love (R-CAND, UT-04 PRIMARY)
Mia Love is the current Republican mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah: she kicked off her bid today to be the Republican candidate for Utah’s new Fourth Congressional district. Mia’s running on basic small-government principles, focusing on government being often the problem, and not the solution, to our problems. She’s got a fairly crowded primary to deal with, and will be facing a transplanted Jim Matheson | Read More »
The Immigration Policy of Absurdistan: Legal is Illegal; Illegal is Legal
Imagine for a moment that a pack of strangers – ranging from hooligans to plain homeless – illegally entered your home and started raiding the pantry, stealing your possessions, stuffing up the toilets, and sleeping on your bed. When you call the police to come down and remove them, you are told they cannot assist you because they lack the power to profile the unwanted | Read More »
On Jon Huntsman: See, I Told You So
My objection to Jon Huntsman remains simple: while serving at the pleasure of the President of the United States, he began plotting against the President of the United States. It matters not who the President is. It matters that the man was disloyal to his President while serving as his mouth piece to our biggest strategic adversary in the world. Many people responded to my | Read More »
Brutus was Right
I can scarcely contemplate a greater calamity that could befall this country, than be loaded with a debt exceeding their ability ever to discharge. If this be a just remark, it is unwise and improvident to vest in the general government a power to borrow at discretion, without any limitation or restriction. Brutus, Anti-Federalist We have been moving steadily towards this calamity since the dawn of the Progressive Era. The object | Read More »
