Arizona’s Ninth District is a new one created because of redistricting, and it’s shaping up to be one of the interesting races* this cycle: not least of which is because the Democrat tapped for it is, well, nuts. I spoke with Vernon Parker – the non-crazy one – about the race: Vernon’s site is here. Moe Lane (crosspost) *Also possibly one of the nastier | Read More »
The national party is kind of excited about this particular race and candidate: “This week brought more disappointing economic news, and more reminders that President Obama’s weak leadership and failed policies have hurt small businesses and driven jobs overseas,” House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said. “We need principled leaders who will come to Congress and join Republicans in the fight to help create a better | Read More »
With Arizona’s primaries now complete, a key Congressional race has emerged in the state’s newly created District 9. Prior to the primary, this swing district had been rated “Lean Democratic” by the Cook Political Report, but the District’s Cook Partisan Voting Index is “Even,” indicating its voters have voted in line with the national average over the last two presidential election cycles. Significantly, the district | Read More »

“I have known Pamela Gorman and her family for years and have long admired her work in the Arizona Legislature. Pamela is the type of leader that understands that we don’t only need to fight the liberal Democrats in Congress, but we need to make sure that our own Republican Party remains anchored by conservative values, as well. Senator Gorman shares my Christian faith and commitment to protecting innocent life, and reducing the size of government.”
Gorman believes that the fights taking place in Republican primaries across the country aren’t only about defeating Democrats in November, but they are something more. Perhaps Gorman is the only official Tea Party endorsed candidate in the race because she recognizes that while the Democratic Party represents a real current threat, Republicans have too often failed to deliver what voters demand and what the country needs. Gorman has preached not only throwing out the Democrats, but also ensuring that the right Republicans win so that the Party is not dominated by moderates who don’t have the stomach for the serious medicine the country needs.
Glendale, Arizona. July 2, 2010. As the nation celebrates Independence Day this weekend and honors all the great American Patriots who made it possible, the Tea Party Patriots of Glendale proudly announce that we unanimously endorse Pamela Gorman for Congress in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District Republican primary.
This is really the tip of the iceberg of Pamela Gorman’s record while serving in the Arizona House and the Arizona Senate. As for the two other legislators running for this seat? You go could through the list above and say “No, no, no, no, no, no, no … to all of those examples of Gorman’s commitment and experience OR ANYTHING OF A SIMILAR NATURE.” As for the other (non-legislator) candidates running for the seat … two government bureaucrats (one who’s gotten rich on fat government contracts and cashing in on taxpayers and bureaucracy the other both supported the $3 billion tax increase and is the stealth candidate of the national pro-abortion movement). One very nice businessman with no understanding of how government works. And, of course, there is the son of Vice President Dan Quayle who has neither business or government experience and is working with his Dad to raise literally millions of dollars to buy a Congressional seat in a District where frankly a few months ago no one even knew he lived. Young Quayle has cashed in on Dad’s rolodex, bought a house, married a pretty young lady and even bought a dog to be the perfect Congressional candidate. Let’s be real. If the Republican Party is moving BACKWARD to the Dan Quayle model and example …
In all honesty, there is only one candidate in the race who is a proven conservative who has been tested and passed and that’s Senator Pamela Gorman. Gorman led the charge against her own party’s Governor (and the State Chair of the AZ GOP) in opposing a $3 billion tax hike in the middle of a recession. That pissed off the Governor and the “go along, get along” GOP establishment.
Gorman has led the charge in toppling the state’s taxpayer-financed election system. The taxpayer-financed campaign system would have dumped $1.4 million into the Republican Governor’s campaign and paid a lot of cash to insider consultants. Those folks aren’t too happy with Gorman.
