Artur Davis (D, apostate) admits he got Voter ID wrong.

Which begs the question: what else did former Alabama Congressman Artur Davis* (D) get wrong? I’ve changed my mind on voter ID laws — I think Alabama did the right thing in passing one — and I wish I had gotten it right when I was in political office. Tennessee Democrats Support Voter Fraud

The state of Tennessee recently passed a voter ID law that would require voters to present a photograph ID before voting. At first, if the voter did not have a legal ID, they would have to purchase one. Naturally, the Democrats opposed the measure, saying that it would impose a poll tax on those Tennesseans that had to purchase an ID. On the floor of | Read More »

    Rhode Island and Voter ID

Today, the New York Times has an editorial attacking so-called voter ID bills. According to Democratic and New York Times (but I repeat myself) mythmaking, voter ID is a racist Republican scheme to stop minorities and Democrats from voting: Of course the Republicans passing these laws never acknowledge their real purpose, which is to turn away from the polls people who are more likely to | Read More »

DSCC inadvertently reveals its 2012 battleground?

Not that, if they did, they intended to do that, mind you: they were probably just intending to scare their donors into giving them money (link via @MattCover) by screaming about how us awful, awful Republicans are so insistent that you should show have to show a picture ID when you vote.  Well, they’re Democrats.  Screaming about Republicans is what they do – besides, these | Read More »

Thanks to EJ Dionne for clarifying the Voter ID issue…

…or, more accurately, the issue of voter registration fraud so comprehensively.  Not that he meant to, of course.  While whining about voter ID laws in Texas (and other states), Dionne wrote this sentence: In Texas, for example, the law allows concealed handgun licenses to work as identification, but not student IDs. Here, real quick: go find your old student ID.  Is there an address on | Read More »

    Voter ID and Voter Contempt.

It is hard to imagine a more demeaning statement about black America than labeling demands that all voters show a photo ID anti-black. – Dennis Prager (HT: National Review) Wow! Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations. Democrats across America have risen en masse to fight Voter ID laws. Their talking points all read in a depressingly similar fashion. The quote-zombies vary in location, | Read More »

The Funny, Funny Lady Named Donna Brazile

Across America, Republican lawmakers have talked a big game about cutting budgets, but they also are seeking reductions to something much more fundamental: Americans’ voting rights. From coast to coast, the GOP is engaged in what appears to be a coordinated, expensive effort to block voters from the polls. -Donna Brazile, Stand-Up Comedian (HT:USA Today) What Donna Brazile has gone full-metal jackass over is the | Read More »

Election reform bill passes WI state house.

Wisconsin’s voter ID bill passed, 60-35; it now goes to the Senate, to be worked on next week.  The bill will require that voters show picture ID before voting: what really has Democrats in a tizzy about this is that to be valid a student ID will need “current address, birth date, signature and expiration date.”  This effectively removes all Wisconsin student IDs from consideration… | Read More »
