Am I the only one for whom Redstate now takes 3+ minutes to load? I went to the bathroom, came back, and it wasn’t done yet.
C’mon, you guys. Most of us here are Conservatives; We’re busy people, with jobs to go to. Can we get this fixed?

Roughly 20sec to load
wennejunk (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 9:27AM EST (link)I’m on a T1 line at my job. DSL appears to be roughly the same speed at home; haven’t noticed any issues

What browser are you using that you are having this problem?

I have T1 speed and the Digg just takes too long.

I was wondering...
The Grognard (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 10:04AM EST (link)…if it was just me.
I read probably 30-50 sites per day (sometimes more), and Red State is the only one I have problems with. Load time for this site is usually anywhere from 30 seconds to well over a minute, and sometimes (not every day but close to it)when I browse to this site it causes my browser to crash (IE 7 with all Microsoft updates).
I spent some time checking my IE settings and internet connection to see if it was a problem on my end, but everything looks kosher to me. Thus, I have to conclude that something about Red State is causing the problem.
This is a recent problem
jimmyg Monday, June 1st at 10:14AM EST (link)For me it started on Friday. It caused me to clean up my computer etc.. Still slow.
I need more information

as a web developer
dave_in_atl (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 11:33AM EST (link)I can tell you the site has new loading problems in pretty much every browser I tested which I will list below….
Firefox 3.5
IE 5.5 / 6 / 7 / 8
Chrome
Safari (iPhone / windows / mac )
It does seem to be the digg javascript that is causing the problems (once the code is cached by the browser the site loads fine)
I would recommend installing the firebug extension in firefox and checking out redstate with a cleared cache… the site currently nearly locks up the entire browser for 30 seconds to a minute on first load.
I have a fast RoadRunner connection,
Charles Cianfrocca (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 11:22AM EST (link)and a hot PC running XP (not Vista) and IE7. So does my ladyfriend, for when I’m at her place. There was no problem before a few days ago. Now both of us are dead slow, for Redstate only.
No – sorry, but it’s not me.

XP with firefox works great...
speciallist (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 11:28AM EST (link)IE seems like the problem….nothin new
That's what I'm using as well, speciallist. Even with dial-up,
janis (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 11:33AM EST (link)it’s a lot faster than IE.
Sounds like MSIE is the problem

see my post above..
dave_in_atl (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 11:34AM EST (link)its not an IE issue at all… you are loading javascript inline which is forcing the page to block while it retrieves the code the first time stalling everything else in the process.
you need to setup that digg stuff to be loaded on window.onload instead which would fix the whole problem.
I'm on cable modem using XP and IE.

larueladue (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 11:47AM EST (link)Been using it for years, and don’t have any problems…. It is different, but different is good. And it is fast!

Windows 7
6eorge Jetson (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 5:51PM EST (link)and a reminder that with cars and Microsoft products, buying the first model year is usually fraught with peril.
Vista brought next to no consumer benefits and worsened performance. Microsoft basically foisted the beginnings of a tighter security framework onto consumers in an unready/unsolid state. It usually takes Microsoft about three tries before they get a “new” paradigm right. Try 2 is usually “not bad”.
A stiff drink and a baseball bat applied judiciously?
janis (Diary) Monday, June 1st at 6:05PM EST (link)Just got a new computer and insisted on having XP on it instead of Vista. The tech nodded wisely and said, “Good choice. Do you use Firefox?” Fortunately, I do, so I looked less of a tech-fool than usual.
Got a new computer in Jan
Karina (Diary) Tuesday, June 2nd at 6:01AM EST (link)and had no choice but Vista. On the whole, I don’t mind it except when I’m trying to download new programs. Unfortunately, I’m in a dry country but I could use that stiff drink!!! Some days I’m tempted to toss this thing out the window. It has a touch screen which is fabulous until a fly lands on it and changes pages on me.
Things should be better now
Neil Stevens (Diary) Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:45AM EST (link)I took digg off of the FP. So it loads at most once per page, and only when you hit a story page.
