Rush Limbaugh Against Hunting/Guns?

Rush Limbaugh may not be against guns rights himself, but an organization that he is supporting is very close to that situation.  Rush Limbaugh has partnered with the Humane Society of the United States(HSUS)  (Here.)

The HSUS is NOT the Humane Society that takes in stray pets that roam around your neighborhood.  The HSUS has been an organization on the front lines of opposition in the battle for hunting rights.  Hunting rights have been a constant battle for years.  Hunting rights issues have been the gateway to conservation issues, gun issues, and animal rights issues.

As a strong supporter of hunting rights and gun rights I am disappointed that Rush would support an organization that is against those rights.  Letters have been sent by sporting organizations including the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.

The letter, signed by the USSA President and CEO, Walter P. Pidgeon, Jr., details why the HSUS is the top opponent of sportsman rights:

“…every major piece of legislation, lawsuit or ballot issue that would restrict the rights of Americans to hunt originated with HSUS. This includes bankrolling ballot issues to ban the hunting of America’s #1 game bird, the mourning dove, lobbying legislation to ban the only effective hunting methods to control black bear numbers, opposition to hunting on Sundays, and opposition to allowing parents the ability to choose at what age their sons and daughters are permitted to begin hunting and much, much more.”  (Full release Here)

I cannot support this regardless of the fact that I have almost always supported Rush.  I work everyday to defend hunting and fishing rights, and there is a constant battle with HSUS.  It saddens me to see a victor of conservative values fall in line with one of my enemies.

I encourage everyone to email Mr. Limbaugh (elrushbo@eibnet.com) and express your views, whether they agree with mine or not.  Look into HSUS and make your own opinion, but know that they are on the front of the anti-hunting movement.

Ammo Shortages and Why

It has been apparent for quite some time that it is difficult to buy ammunition.  Many people think that it is regionalized or based on a store-by-store case.  The ammunition shortage is very real and encompasses the entire country.

According to a friend in retail that I spoke with, retailers that have been paying their bills on time are receiving more orders and at a faster pace.  I don’t have any documented proof of that, so take it as it is, but it does make sense.

According to the NSSF (National Shoot Sports Foundation)

NSSF has received numerous calls regarding shortages of ammunition. Many of these callers have expressed concern that the supply of ammunition is not able to keep up with the current demand.

In order to provide the best information possible on the issue of ammunition availability, NSSF interviewed ammunition manufacturers across the United States.  Here’s what we have learned:

Is there truly a shortage of ammunition?

The shortage of ammunition is real and is caused by several factors including:

  • A significant spike in consumer demand
  • Law Enforcement demand for training and readiness
  • Department of Defense demand for training and readiness
  • Higher prices from commodities

What calibers are in the highest demand?

The high demand for ammunition extends across caliber lines. The increase can be seen in most handgun, rifle and rimfire ammunition and on certain shot shell products such as buckshot.

What are manufacturers doing to keep up with demand?

In order to help keep up with demand for ammunition, manufacturers are working at full capacity (24/7).  It is believed that any ammunition shortage is likely a temporary issue; however, it will take time for supply to catch up with demand.

How long will it take for supply to catch up with demand?

While it is believed that supply will be increasing, the great unknown is what demand will be later in the year. Since there is no way for manufacturers to predict how long consumer demand will be sustained at its current, unprecedented level, it is impossible for manufacturers to forecast the timeline for when the current backlog will begin to improve.

Not all States are jumping into the Anti-Gun Parade!

It is great to be from Texas!  The Lonestar State is the only one (that I know of) that allows school administrators and teachers to carry a concealed firearm to a classroom!

Texas also has legislation in the works for the right-to-carry concealed firearms on college campuses.  This a huge step forward on gun rights and a slap in the face of the current federal anti-gun movement.

So while the nation is focused on the evil-trinity (Obama/Pelosi/Holder…Hillary can be the false prophet,)  the States are taking efforts into their own hands to assure citizens that their rights are still a priority.  This leads into State Sovereignty Rights.  Who holds the trump cards?

New Hampshire is leading the Sovereignty war, and it is ever expanding.  They are introducing a bill to strengthen the sovereignty rights of their State (HCR 6).  New Hampshire is just the tip of the iceberg.  As I hear, there are now 20 States with bills being considered to strengthen sovereignty rights.  Watch New Hampshire Representative Dan Itse on Glenn Beck:  (several weeks old..I would like an update if one is available.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j6R6nF589g

The gun issue is already being taken as a State Issue amongst many of the States.  The bills and laws being presented/implemented go from far left to far right depending on the State. (Texas far-Right, DC far-Left.) One bridge we have not crossed yet, is how much do the States have to say about the gun rights?  With Texas working on opening up concealed-carry rights, what will happen if the Feds try to throw a trump card on the actions and deem it all illegal?  Who has the rights?  Does this turn into a State Sovereignty issue…..?

DC/Mexico…Springboards to Gun Ban

It is no secret that the Liberals want our guns.  Just add them to the list of Liberal Seizures…right behind Civil Liberties.  I find it fascinating that gun regulations are creeping in closer and closer, yet there is little attention given it.

At the moment there appears to be some confusion amongst liberals as to the path that needs to be taken, but the first step appears to be registration.  “History has shown that around the world, registration has always led to confiscation’” Alan Gottlieb, Second Amendment Foundation.

There are two immediate scapegoats that sit on the liberal selling plate, the DC gun ban and Mexico.  The shootings and violent crimes, while terrifying and tragic, have always been a bullet for the anti-gun lobby.

First, the DC Gun ban is a direct violation of the Second Amendment and the Heller ruling.  Again, nothing new there except the new reactions/justifications from our fearless leaders.  Attorney General Eric Holder has made it clear where he stands on guns, the DC gun ban, and the Second Amendment.  I think that even Liberal supporters are starting to cringe at Holder’s foot-in-mouth syndrome, but Nancy Pelosi has been rather coy on gun ban issues.  She would not jump right in to support Holder on his push to reinstate the Clinton gun ban, but she is moving in that direction now.  “…there is no doubt where Speaker Pelosi truly stands. She will support gun control, but on her timetable, not one provided her by the new Attorney General,” NRA.

Yesterday, Pelosi made here book push attempt on Good Morning America.  Here is where she opens up a little to show that she is still in favor of Registration.    Watch the video, read the article at your own risk!

http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=7276300

(I can’t find it on YouTube)

She takes on the gun issues about 3 minutes in, and then about 4:40 in she opens up about Registration.   “We want them registered.  We don’t want them crossing state lines,” say Pelosi in the interview.  Seems that DC is mounting up to be a battleground and gaining support from the usual left.

Second, the drug wars in Mexico have been going on for a few years now.  Frankly, I am amazed at how long it took for the MSM to catch on.  My guess…President Bush would not use it as an excuse to ban guns or Civil Liberties.  So…let it ride under the radar until the political and social advantages sway to the left, and then announce the crisis!  In the early stages of the Mexico drug wars, Texas couldn’t even find support from the Congressman they elected, Henry Cuellar (D-TX.)

 http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/1657/

Note that this broadcast was from November 9, 2007.

Funny how opinions have changed since the MSM got word of the border war.   I can’t really remember ever hearing anything else in detail about Mexico for about another 6 months.  Obviously, the issue had already hit Texas.

But to get back on track with Mexico being a scapegoat for the anti-gun lobby, it has already been brought up that the information casting America at fault for contributing the majority of illegal firearms to Mexico is a complete farce.  Here.   Hillary and the Left-administration are apologizing our rights away over issues that do not hold our blame.  I agree with Hillary that America is to blame for the demand of drugs, but that just means that the DEA needs to be reevaluated and funded.  How did they end up at the conclusion that since Americans use drugs smuggled from Mexico, firearms must now be registered?    Mexico has become the spring that could launch the gun ban.

In Mexico, according to the Wall Street Journal, Holder was asked if the administration might encounter constitutional issues as it tries to crack down on alleged gun trafficking. His response: “I don’t think our Second Amendment will stand in the way of efforts we have begun and will expand upon.”  –SAF

I’m NOT saying that it is going to happen, I’m just saying that it is something that needs a watchful eye.  With Pelosi finally showing her true colors, it seems to me that it is only a matter of time before they organize and get the blessing of the Obamassiah.

It’s the ramifications of a gun ban at this point in time that keeps my attention.  Sporting goods stores are already having trouble keeping ammunition on the shelves.  Ammunition manufactures are having trouble keeping up with retail orders, and firearm manufactures are backordered by months.   I do not see the American people giving in too easily to registrations or bans.

I know that there is more information out there.  I would like to hear more about this issue and its development.
