South Carolina, when is Lindsey Graham running?

Hey to all the South Carolina conservatives out there.  Can we get Graham out of there?  This guy has taken positions on things that are being to get really old.  He is now calling for Obama to push harder on immigration reform (read amnesty).  I do not live in South Carolina so I don’t know all the ins and outs of Sen. Graham’s track record.  I only know what I am hearing every day on the news.

So, any comments on what we can do?  Like I said I am not sure when he is running again but I wanted to start the ball rolling now.  I realize there are more important fish to fry this year and I am not putting a ton of energy into this at the moment.  I just read a story about the amnesty push and it frustrated me to no end.  And of course, Mr. Graham is leading the charge.  Way to go Lindsey!  Keep up the good work of being a voice for the Democrats on some issues.

No votes to yes votes?

There are several stories circulating about 9 no votes on the house side considering a yes vote now on the health care bill.  One of those is my current congressman, John Tanner.  He is retiring so of course he no longer cares what we think.  Not that he did much anyway.  So, I have contacted his office to let them know my disagreement with his and that I will also hold his vote against any Dem. who runs in his place.  I have also put word out to friends in the area to contact the guys running for his slot on the Dem. side to let them know Tanner’s vote is their vote.

Find out where your representatives stand, especially if they are retiring.  I have a feeling some of these clowns will go out in a blaze of glory.  We must stand up now more so than we did last year.  These next few weeks will determine what happens with this thing.  Let’s get busy!

Now is the time…

There is every indication out of Washington right now that the Democrats are going to push through a health care proposal on reconciliation.  It will be attached to a budget bill so it would only need 51 votes.  Sure, going that route will scale it down but it would still be law.  We cannot fall asleep now and let this happen.  I believe as I am writing this 13 senators, including Harry Reid and Arlen Specter have signed a pledge to include the public option in this bill.  I know that is far from 51 but the fight is back on.

Call your senators.  I happen to live in Tennessee where both senators are opposed to this bill but I have friends in other states.  Do you have friends in Nebraska?  Arkansas?  Louisiana?  There are at least 10 Democrats and Joe Lieberman who can bring this thing down even with the 51 vote margin.  Sen. Reid said in an interview yesterday that it will pass within 60 days.

I know a lot can happen and we have been down this road before, but know more than ever we need to stand up and be counted.  The American people do not want this bill and we definitely do not want to be forced to buy anything.  Let’s get to work.

Stephen Fincher TN 8th District

Here in the TN 8th congressional district we are on the verge of replacing a blue dog.  John Tanner is retiring instead of facing the music.  There are a few people in the race, including Roy Herron on the Democratic side.  Herron was running for governor but decided to run here once Tanner retired.  On the Republican side, Fincher is running as well as a Dr. Kirkland.  Kirkland has supported Tanner in the past as well as donated money to his campaign.  Fincher is the man who understands what we need.

Fincher is a farmer…he knows what it takes to balance a budget, run a business, and make payroll.  He is exactly what we need, especially here in TN.  I ask you all to support Fincher in the primary and especially in the general election.  I know redstate.com has already run a few stories on Stephen and I am just asking that we keep the push going.  Last night was just the first round in a long battle.  Let’s keep it going.

Harry Reid

It appears Harry Reid has apologized for his ‘no negro dialect’ comment aimed at Pres. Obama during the 2008 campaign.  He apologized in 2010 due to the release of a book detailing the campaign.  He felt so sorry for what he said he waited over a year to call Obama and say he was sorry.  Now, this is the same guy who said Trent Lott made the right decision in resigning in 2002 over racist comments he made.  So, should we expect a resignation announcement Monday from Reid?  Don’t hold your breath.  You have to have character to do that.  Then Illinois State Senator Obama called on the the Republican party to do the right thing and remove Lott.  Will Obama call on his party to remove Reid?  Of course not.  Obama says he accepts the apology.  I have no problem with an apology and making things right.  I am glad Reid apologized and Obama accepted.  My problem is calls for Lott’s head and the silence now.  Very hypocritical if you ask me.

A terrorist with an attorney

It appears the terrorist who tried to kill innocent civilians on Christmas has lawyered up.  The word on the street is that he is not talking and his public defendant (nice to know we are paying for his representation) is pushing for a deal.  So, this guy goes from a wanna-be suicide bomber to cutting a deal with the United States Government.  Wow.  Our government is so limited on its sources in Yemen that we are having to talk to a 23-year old terrorist to find out what he knows.  Really?  Why are we affording this guy the same rights as you and I?  Did he get his citizenship papers done that fast?  This whole thing is turning into a really bad joke and I am afraid the terrorists are the ones laughing

Which is it Mr. President?

Is the Nigerian terrorist an ‘isolated extremist’ or part of an Al Qaeda plot?  3 days after the attempted bombing on Christmas Pres. Obama made the claim that this nut was an isolated person.  Now, after gathering and reading the facts he has acknowledged he was part of a larger plot.

Instead of waiting until he had the information, he jumps the gun.  Just like his statement about the Cambridge police incident with the Harvard professor, Pres. Obama now looks like he didn’t know everything before he opened his mouth.  Its getting old Mr. President.

There is evil in the world…well, only if Obama says so

Last night I turned to the worst show on T.V., the one with the former ESPN sportscaster who couldn’t make it with them so he turned to being a liberal t.v. guy.  Anyway, his buddy O’Donnell was guest hosting and had Fineman from Newsweek on discussing the President’s peace prize speech.  They went back and forth about how some of it sounded like that evil Pres. Bush guy they both hate so much.  How could Obama use words like ‘terrorism’ and ‘evil’ to describe certain people in this world?

Well, the conversation took a funny turn.  They both seemed to acknowledge that, you know what, there might just be mean people in the world that could be called ‘evil.’  They went on and on about how Pres. Obama’s tone was so different than Bush in that he understood the need for war but wanted peace.  Didn’t Bush say that over and over?  Guess these guys were asleep during those speeches.  Anyway, Fineman also pointed out how smart Obama was for being able to understand the need for conflict and fighting so hard for peace.  Guess they haven’t read much history about many of our former presidents.

So, I left that channel and had to breath for a bit.  When Bush says there is ‘evil’ in the world he is called everything for Hitler to the devil himself.  When Obama does it, he is called brilliant for recognizing the need for force in certain situations.  Humm….those liberals are funny aren’t they?
