According to an article written by Byron York yesterday, he heard from inside sources, that as of mid-day Monday, Santorum was ahead by 80 votes as they are completing the certification. So if Romney doesn’t win Iowa, that means he isn’t on a winning streak, obviously. The certification is to be completed by Friday, and if Romney isn’t the winner, that news will be everywhere just a few days before the SC primary. Bye bye winning streak.

but the Powers that be clearly did not plan on Newt sticking around and having his best debate last night! One more such performance on Thursday, it will be bye bye Santorum and Mitt, Welcome Newt!

unless you are implying that Iowa is going to cheat for Santorum. Santorum can’t win over the long haul, and I would much prefer to see him win Iowa and stop the talk about Romney’s “winning streak.”

Right after Iowa, when news came out that Romney was wrongly credited with 20 extra votes, the Iowa Republican Party and santorum went out of the way to say that it wouldn’t affect the results! And obviously santorum was so elated with his win for all intents and purpose. And now, a few days after the endorsement of the Evangelicals, they are trying to sell the story that perhaps Santorum had won Iowa…..The timing stinks! I still think they are trying to bolster Santorum than trying to stop Romney.

Could it be that romney knows Santorum isnt a threat, IA bounce is over with, but Santorum winning IA would encourage santorum to think he has a chance and stay in? thus diluting gingrich?

Romney doesnt control IA but his campaign could just not pressure for any recount or challenge anything and withdraw any pressure they may have been putting on.

Would be interesting to know what’s going on behind the scenes.
