Republican Super Majority in Texas

November 2nd was a truly historic night in Texas. Republicans sent 22 incumbent Democrats packing and this changed a narrow majority of 76 republicans to 74 Democrats last session to a 99 to 51 lead for the next session. Republicans are waiting on one recount to see if they will have a 100 vote super majority. Only two years ago Texas Republicans held their breath on a recount to see if they would be in a 75-75 tie.

There will be 31 new Republicans coming to the Texas capitol and only 6 freshman Democrats. The “WD-40s” have been wiped out. Only one white Democrat over age 40 survived the Tuesday night election. They owned the Texas legislature until about 1980 and have dwindled away to near extinction.

Legislators will find the same solid Governor waiting on them in Austin. Republican Rick Perry handily defeated Houston’s Bill White 55-42 to win a 3rd term. Perry beat White with a “new media” campaign strategy focusing on internet advertising and social network sites. He did not debate White. Perry refused to sit for interviews with the editorial boards of the major Texas newspapers. Perry didn’t even print yard signs. His campaign and a comparatively strong Texas economy carried Texas Republicans to victory in every statewide race and judicial seat.

The tea party spirit played a big roll in the Republican sweep. One prominent Austin based lobbyist put it this way:

Dont Mess With the Texas Tea Party!
The Texas Tea Party had an impact in Texas. Starting last summer with the Town Hall meetings and the rallies at the State Capitol, the group started attracting voters who had lost hope of finding a politician who represented their priorities. The Tea Party delivered them to the polls, and when they arrived there – they voted for the Republican candidate in almost every case. Now the question is whether any of the Republican candidates they elected will maintain any alliance with the Tea Party principals once in office.

The lopsided election results may put Speaker of the House, Joe Straus in danger of losing his position. He was a compromise candidate two years ago. Conservative Republicans will likely want to make a change to a more conservative Speaker.

All in all, it was a great night for Texas and Texas Republicans. As Rick Perry says, the states are a laboratory for good government. Texas is now even more strongly positioned to act as an example to the rest of the country.

And oh yeah, Texas is:

Joe Miller Claims CBS Affiliate Conspired Against Him. Palin Agrees: Corrupt Bastards!

We conservatives know it. The MSM is in the tank for Democrats or anyone else who can stop tea party candidates. Now comes AK Republican candidate, Joe Miller claiming the CBS affiliate in Anchorage placed a call to his campaign that was picked up by voice mail. The caller forgot to disconnect and the following conversation was recorded and has been released:

H/T Breitbart

While the tape has not been independently verified there is this:
FOX News

KTVA so far has not responded to a request for comment by Fox News and FoxNews.com. Fox News also has not yet confirmed the authenticity of the tape.

The campaign said the voicemail was authenticated by KTVA when the assignment editor sent a text message to Miller spokesman Randy DeSoto saying, “Damn iPhone … I left you a long message. I thought I hung up. Sorry.”

Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News this morning. She said the media was doing to Miller what it does to her.

Palin never holds back. She has come out tough in defense of Miller. I guess the rumors the media and lefty bloggers have been spreading about disputes between Miller and the Palins have been exaggerated fabricated. Nah, I won’t link to that. Enough already. It is the whole MSM, the Ruling Class and the left against Joe Miller.

Hey, this just in this morning from crapweasel Cornyn at the NRSC. Do you believe this guy? Satisfied to settle for Murkowski? BS, they are praying for the princess.

There will be retribution, Senator Cornyn. Go Joe.

In the Shadow of Obama Statism, Texas Still Shines

Across this great country, there is economic pain and uncertainty. In some states, unemployment is at staggering levels. Government has grown ever larger, but so have the country’s problems. That’s no coincidence and you, like Ronald Reagan in his time, know what the problem is.

There is a state that has a more limited view of the role of government. It’s a state where even in this sour economy, jobs are produced. Why does Texas work? Let me count SOME of the reasons:

1. No personal income tax.
2. Right to work state.
3. Governor Rick Perry.
4. Business friendly attitude.
5. Dynamic citizens with a can-do attitude.
6. Limited government -The Texas legislature is in session every other year and then just for a few months.

And then there is this: There is not a single Democrat . . . not even one, elected to a state wide office.

Texas is about to re-elect Governor Rick Perry. Even the Houston Chronicle grudgingly agrees. Perry will again have nothing but Republicans joining him in the state-wide offices. This all fills me with confidence that Texas will thrive even as Obama casts the long shadow of statism across America for two more years.

Come on blue states. What’s it going to be? The Chicago way or jobs? Union corruption or jobs? Food stamps or jobs?

You have the example. Fire the Democrats and replace them with conservative Republicans. If you can, find a leader like Rick Perry. Freedom and prosperity will follow.

Chicago “Media” Protects Son of the Devil’s Spawn

Rahm Emanuel is a creature of the Chicago machine. He has a rep as a little tough guy with a foul mouth. He’s a BAD man, in the Ali sense. He floats like a butterfly ballerina; stings like a bee. Rahmbo will even go after you while you are naked in the shower.

Rahm Emanuel, former Obama COS is so bad he can get away with bailing on his Democrat buddies and Obama just weeks ahead of a critical mid-term election. Heh, don’t mess with Rahm. To hell with them fellers seemed to be his attitude. I’m bailin’. The guy has to know where all the bodies are buried to get away with so much bad behavior.

Conveniently, the Mayoral job in hometown Chicago is available and Rahm wants it. Never mind questions about residency requirements or the tardiness of his decision. This is Chicago and all that will get smoothed over. But even in Chicago, it takes some nerve to say it is not about actually living there but “intent.” Huh? Really? Well, obviously you have to be from Chicago to get it and I’m not. Maybe somebody from that neck of the woods can splain it to me.

So any way, Rahm decides to get a little public facetime with his MSM pals. Enter William Kelly, a pushy blogger type with his own microphone, camera and decidedly unfriendly questions. Pesky feller. Not at all like the Chicago MSM who seem to exist to enable machine politics.

Just watch as the dinosaur media closes ranks around their friend, Rahm. One even threatens physical violence. These are the some of the same guys who protected another friend who just happened to become the Messia POTUS.

Was Kelly aggressive? Yes. But how else can anyone ever break through the media wall that winks at the Chicago way? Dana Loesch explains. If only there had been more aggressive reporting on the real Obama back in ’08.

Did the Chicago Capone types ever go away? Nah, like the Kennedys, they found a better gig. They became Democrats. Is it that much different anywhere in big city America? If they are nearly untouchable (oh my) in Chicago, they ARE vulnerable in much of flyover country and even certain blue cities. So, go punish THEM. For now, throwing his Democrat pals out is about the only hurt we can put on a punk like Rahm. Then we’ll see what bubbles up when Republicans are seated in their majority chairs.

I Had Not Thought Death Had Undone So Many

In just a handful of days, the citizens of the United States will either re-affirm our Founder’s vision or settle for the blue pill. We can either climb back up on the shoulders of those who came before us or accept the statism of Obama, Pelosi and Reid. One choice empowers individual opportunity and the pursuit of happiness. The other offers a few crumbs of security at a cost of living in a brown fog of mere existence.

Long ago the English made their choice. The Fabian Socialists won the day and the long decline of the great empire began. The poet, T.S. Elliot, living in London right after WW1, took notice in his long poem, ‘The Waste Land’.

Unreal City,
Under the brown fog of a winter dawn,
A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many,
I had not thought death had undone so many.
Sighs, short and infrequent, were exhaled,
And each man fixed his eyes before his feet.

Desperately bleak. I can only hope and pray (while such is still allowed) that the country makes enough of the right choices on November 2nd. The real worry is about the challenge beyond the immediate election. Can we avoid the appeal of rank populism? Do we have the heart to face down the coming blow-back . . . because it will come.

I hope Americans still have it within them. I think they do but too many people don’t even want to think about such things. To them I would say, get outside your day to day existence. Take your soul for a long walk and a conversation.

Who are we, we Americans? What is our future? Who owns MY soul?

Is this our future?

(H/T Hot Air)

We are a long ways down the wrong path. This election is our future and the future is now- not two or twenty-two years away. Right now. Go vote. Vote against the socialist Democrats. Reclaim your birthright, your divine gift to be free, while you still can.

Give Me That D**n Gavel!

One Last Look at Florida 22, Patriot Allen West vs Ron Klein.

Allen West gets it. He is simpatico with the Tea Party spirit. This one really matters. If you are in FL 22, please vote for Allen West and end the career of Pelosi enabler, Ron Klein. If you are not in the district, support Allen West and kick him a few bucks if you can. He needs a hand because this race appears to be tight.

We outsiders, we Constitutionalists are on the verge of a house-cleaning. That’s right. We are going to be taking out the statist trash and millions of independent voters will be with us on November 2nd. We can’t miss the opportunity to send them and all of America, including the twits in the MSM, unrefutable proof that our uprising is COLOR BLIND. It’s our chance to tell the racebaiters to hush-up and this matters if Republicans want to be more competitive in minority districts. Listen to this nonsense. Hard to believe what’s in some people’s heads. West has a message for them and Nancy Pelosi:

Give me that damn gavel!

Send West to Congress and you’ll be sending a man who knows what it is to lay it all on the line. Send him to Congress and he’ll be a man who won’t be co-opted by the insiders and will not be afraid to challenge the leadership of Boehner or any other “Leader” who imagines himself a Lord.

More on West here. also, from RedStater Eric Brockway. Donate here.

Massively Inadequate to the Task: The Lords of the Ruling Class

How can a little ruling class elite act in the best interest of the people they are supposed to represent? How can they design the rules by which a society progresses? They can’t. History proves it. All they can really do is offer up serfdom hidden by populist rhetoric. Where the ruling class gets total control, it always goes badly, very badly.

Listen to Bill Whittle:

Our founding fathers understood very well the Royalist, elitist attitude. They experienced it first hand. To guard against it, Jefferson and friends put their heads together to come up with a new set of rules for governance that empowered the individual and attempted to keep power as close to the people as possible. It was and is radical stuff.

You know. . . radical. . . like what is happening in this country right now. Citizens are rising up trying to rip away the reins of power from the elitists who oppress the people with process and and giant statism. It’s not easy and recently, right here on RedState a diarist wrote in SUPPORT of AK Senate candidate, Joe Miller offering him this backhanded slap: “highly flawed, intelligent, eccentric Conservative. . .”

Good grief! Could it be any harder to get after these political posers? The incoming is inbound from all directions.

Just look at the Founders. Talk about deeply flawed. So flawed they changed the world. Come on people. I don’t give a hoot in hades if our modern day upstart citizen-candidates don’t know how to play well with the establishment. Some tailbones need kicking.

Over the last 100 years there has been great abuse of our Constitutional democracy. People seeking power, control and personal enrichment have chipped away at the ideals of the founders. Mostly, it happened in the courts during periods of distress when a crisis just could not be allowed to go to waste.

Today, right now, and for the next couple of weeks, we have a chance to BEGIN the re-righting of our country and our ship of state. We don’t have settle for lying pretenders any more. . .the Castles, Murkowskis, Bennetts and on and on. We sure don’t have to settle for the Demo-Marxists.

So, a little favor is requested. I ask it on the behalf of Joe Miller, Christine O’Donnell and all the other “deeply flawed” citizen candidates who have let it all hang out in the name of real republican government. I ask it on behalf of the tens of thousands of people who are working for candidates like these. I acknowledge the newcomers are not “professional” and in some cases they aren’t very polished but they are 10 times, no 100 times better than the alternatives at hand. With that in mind, can you maybe just hush about their flaws? Just hold your piece till November 3rd at least (forever would be preferable). If you can’t do this, then we will know you for what you really are and the judgment shall be harsh upon you.

Update: Just finished watching TX Senator and NSRC’s John Cornyn vs MO Senator McCaskill (on Fox) and it reaffirmed just how much work conservatives have to do. Not pretty. . . more after November 2nd.

Rick Perry Zeroes In On Another Varmint

Texas Governor Rick Perry kicks off NASCAR weekend last April in Ft Worth

Take a look at the picture above. How many governors in this great country would be comfortable with a photo op like that? Right. Not many. In Texas, Perry popping off a few blank rounds in downtown Ft Worth scarcely bothers anyone except for the fuzzy-cheeked Marxists at U.T. and what’s left of the soccer moms. Speaking of soccer moms, the poor dears gotta be lonely since all their sisters saw the light and ran off to run the tea party movement.

Rick Perry rides his own trail and you either like him or you don’t. There’s a lot more to like than not like. Take that for what it’s worth since it comes from a native Texan. Friends not from Texas sometimes mention there is an attitude Texans hold that rubs them wrong. I get that . . . but a little attitude combined with a philosophy of self dependence and living free has a lot to do with the fact that Texas has created more jobs this year than all the other large states combined.

Governor Perry is running for re-election against MoveOn.org former Houston Mayor, Bill White. The Democrats and their front groups have poured many millions of dollars into attempting to defeat Perry. Polls were close through the spring and summer, encouraging Democrats to think they might take out one of their most hated foes. Despite all those millions and the best efforts of the Texas major newspapers to attack Perry, he will win. Perry will win because he is pretty much the opposite of Obama and White. He will win because it is a Republican year and Perry has captured the tea party spirit. He will win because Texas is doing better economically than the other states in the country.

After holding his fire for a while, Perry has stepped up his message against White. It is having an effect. In the last Rasmussen polling Perry broke 50%, leading White 53-42. Don’t turn out the lights yet, but the party is definitely winding down.

Sorry Mr White, your out of state pals and the DGA can’t carry your carcass. You had about as much chance as the coyote Perry shot while on his evening jog. It’s just the way most Texans feel about varmints, including those with 2 legs.

Perry beating White is bad news for Democrats and Obama, today and in the future. They really needed to take Perry and Texas down at the same time. When Texas stands as such a glaring example against Obama’s big government statism, it is hard to sell more statism. Thank God for all Americans who live the Texas state of mind, wherever you may be, because living free isn’t about place. It is about what you have in your head and heart.

Full Scale Rebellion: My 11 Candidates For #1013bomb

Wednesday evening, 10-13, starting about 8 PM Eastern time, there will be a money-bomb event on Twitter. Brian Faughnan laid it out on the front page. This seems like a good idea that is sure to garner a lot of attention. Wouldn’t it be just too bad if it further demoralized the Democrats? Pretty sweet, I’d say.

What better way to join in with the spirit demonstrated by Mark Levin on his Monday radio program when he said, “We’re in full scale rebellion and we are going to crush these bastards…whether they like it or not!”

I have a list of 11 that I think deserve support. There are so many great conservative Repuplican cnadidates and you probably have your own. Most of them have come under brutal person personal attacks because, well, that’s all the donks have . . . except for a lot more money than they need to buy their dirty ads.

And so . . .

To help your conservative Republicans candidates get out their message, it is important to throw them some money ensure they have a real chance to turn the tide against the statist Obama agenda. Announcing it publicly makes it all the more powerful. I hope the twitter stream is full of #1013bomb announcements.

Joe Miller, AK Senate

Ken Buck, CO Senate
Mike Lee, UT Senate
Christine O’Donnell, DE Senate
Allen West, FL 22
Daniel Webster, FL 8
Francisco Canseco, TX 23
Eddie Zamora, TX 15
Dr Donna Campbell, TX 25
Sean Bielat, MA 4
Pastor Stephen Broden, TX 30

A lot of these candidates are going to win. If I could only have two of these, my choices would be Joe Miller and Allen West.

If you are on Twitter and can rob your piggy bank, join us in helping deserving candidates and sending a message that DOOM is at hand for Democrats.

Fast and Loose With a Month to Go. The Dallas Morning News Goes after Rick Perry.

It’s Rick Perry-R vs former Houston Mayor, Bill White-D (right)

One month out from the a midterm election that could very well reverse the dramatic legislative shift to the far left under Obama, we have seen a bogus employment/immigration issue tossed at Meg Whitman, the Republican candidate for Governor in California. Now, The Dallas Morning News has charged inferred Rick Perry is favoring his supporters with cash from a fund set up in 2005 by the Texas Legislature to bring business and jobs to Texas.

An investigation by The Dallas Morning News found that more than $16 million from the Emerging Technology Fund has been awarded to companies with investors or officers who are large campaign donors to Perry.

The governor denied that politics influence his decisions on tech fund awards.

The fund gives taxpayers’ dollars to promising high-tech startups. It is a key part of Perry’s economic development program, which he has touted in his re-election campaign against Democrat Bill White.

The governor’s office administers the tech fund, and the governor must approve each award – a system that most other states with tech funds avoid to guard against political influence.

Go here for the full story from the Dallas Morning News and here for a graph of donations.

It is easy to question the wisdom of setting up a fund that allows the Governor, with advice from a 17 member panel the Governor picks, to choose who receives grants . Government shouldn’t be in the business of picking winners, but the legislators of Texas decided to do this.

All we know now is an investigative reporter has found that some Perry contributors got money from the fund for businesses they are associated with. It is a handful of people that we know about so far. So what, I say. It’s Texas. Texas is a red state. Many of the heavy hitters in Texas donate to Perry. The Morning News seems to find this shocking. Where’s the common sense? Stifled by an agenda?

I am most anxious to hear from the favorite Senator of the Morning News, Kay Bailey Hutchison, on this matter. I’m just sayin . . . and I am sure she and her North Dallas harpies are in high dungeon. They just don’t like cowboys. They like RINOs or anyone but Perry. They just can’t deal with the fact Governor Perry spanked Kaye Bailey like a red-headed step child in the March Republican primary. The Senator barely hides her hate distaste for Perry. But I digress.

The Democrats will do anything to take down Perry and Texas. They are likewise as desperate to see the ancient Moonbeam once again rise over California. Consider: In the space of four days the Republican candidates for Governor in the two largest electoral states are attacked over ethical issues. Coincidence? Hard to believe? See Ayn Rand:

The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see.

The Democrat Governor’s Association has spent millions on the White campaign. They are set to start an October push with a new schedule of anti-Perry television ads. The race shows some tightening recently with Rasmussen showing it 48-42 for Perry. A group of large Texas papers just released a poll showing Perry +7. Democrats think they are in striking distance to win this race and money is pouring into it.

The nature of the Morning News report and the timing smell to high heavens. Reportedly, 8 donors out of 120 funding recipients made a donation to Perry. Think about that for a moment. . .8 out of 120 in RedState Texas. This is the type of reporting that led me after 25 years of starting every day with the Morning News to drop my subscription.

I see AP has now picked up the story. Other television network affiliates in Texas are beginning to report the story on their web sites. Perhaps more incriminating information will be forthcoming. It’s not clear how big this story might be but I know there are people hoping it is very big. This story may just go away on its own because the facts pointing to anything unethical are so thin, but can there be any doubt Democrats and their MSM friends intend to throw everything they have against the Republicans? We can only wait to see what bubbles up next. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, I await to see who the Dallas Morning News endorses in the Governor’s race. Will they support the Perry, who has led Texas to be #1 in job creation in 2010? Or will they follow the lead of the Austin American-Statesman which just endorsed Bill White in their Saturday edition?

Rick Perry has made it clear he doesn’t care what the major Texas newspapers think of him. ALL of them endorsed Hutchison in the March primary. Get the picture?
