Why Can’t We Get on Board with Newt?

Why can’t we get on board with Newt? Why does it have to be Obama Lite versus the Nanny State, Big Spending, Big Labor Republican?

When the firefighter comes to rescue your kids from the burning building, do you ask him if he ever had a divorce first or do you point him to their room?

Folks, our country is burning down, and Mitt intends to use a garden hose for a 5-alarm fire. As if that weren’t bad enough, he was the one whispering in the ear of our Arsonist-in-Chief about what a great idea the individual mandate would be at the federal level (USA Today, 2009 op-ed). Rick understands the urgency, but when he was in the Senate and our country needed conservative leadership, all he could muster was Republican followership (“team player” vomit-inducing comment in the last debate).

Only one candidate is talking about getting Congress off their useless hinders as soon as they are sworn in on January 3 to pass the repeal of Obamacare (use reconciliation in the Senate, or they can “deem and pass” it for all I care, whatever works) so that he can sign it on the afternoon of January 20, and that candidate is the only one with experience as a conservative leader–Newt Gingrich.

    Thomas Sowel had a great endorsement of Newt this last week, with an important qualifier, his baggage. There is a list we all know it. Repeating it does no good, so let me try a diffrent tact.

    When Rick Perry handed Newt a win in South Carolina, Rick said the mission was more important than the person. Do you believe Newt could ever say something along those lines? Newt could have ended Mitt’s campaign by telling his supporters to support the other conservative and end the pretender’s attempt at a hostile take-over of the nominating process. Would have been the perfect restart to his campaign. Didn’t or more likely, couldn’t.

    All that baggage reveals a person who won’t sacrifice his ambitions for his beliefs that he holds out for all the other, little, people. So comes down to a question of trust.

    I want to trust the firefighter won’t decide on the way to save me that there is a more important agenda. ‘Ohh-yea, the guy that’s burning, he’ll understand’. Newt was removed as leader when all those burned congressmen said they wouldn’t be burned anymore.

    Newt could still cross that gate by gracefully handing over his firehat and showing everyone the rules do apply to him.

    Newt is a terribly flawed man. Once past his bluster, there is little there. He cannot manage. He overreaches and then folds. And why can we trust anyone capable of sitting on a couch with Nancy?

    Newts little jaunt with al Sharpton too.

    Once people realize that Newts strategy is populist, the couch add with pelosi and jaunt with Sharpton fit right in. It does not mean he is in favor of “cap-and-trade” or more govt intrusion in education. People need to go back and learn exactly what he DID and DIDN’T say on those occasions.

    So why haven’t the voters bought into Newt?
    The misleading negative ads in Iowa and Florida were effective.
    Romney is basically BUYING the nomination.
    The other candidates refused to debate him in Georgia.
    Virginia ballot rules debaucle cost him. He might well have won the state had he been on the ballot.
    A lot of voters are buying into the liberal theme that he is un-elecable.
    A lot of voters are buying into the GOP establishment theme that he is radical and therefore un-electable, but really, they just fear for their own positions).
    I havent seen anything but lies and slander written about him among the MSM thru the campaign. I’d argue that this is where most people get there news coverage. Not everyone has a PC or internet access.

    dam broke and Obama rode the waves in. When you see folks on our side do those things it’s easy to get the feeling that the game is about over.
