Enough Distractions! We need 2 of these 4 seats! PA, HI, NY, FL

Four, count them, four House seats previously held by democrats are coming up for election soon. As in, before November. Now, as activists we can spend the next few months opining on every detour thrown in our path or we can begin helping to elect people who can make a a change.

Lets start with Pennsylvania. The late Democratic Rep. John Murtha held this seat for over 40 years! This special election is in May.
From today’s LA Times:

“Two recent polls show Democrat Mark Critz with a narrow lead over Republican Tim Burns in the May 18 election. But in a worrisome sign for Critz and his party as a whole, independents appear to be breaking toward Burns in large numbers.”

Good news for us huh? We may have a shot at this one.

Moving to New York. Remember Rep. Eric Massa? They have not yet announced a date for this special election but it will be coming up before November. This can be picked up if we focus on it and put some energy behind a candidate. Now’s the time to research.

On to Hawaii. You know what this state means to the President. This election is also in May. From the LA Times story.

“Hawaii traditionally tilts toward the Democrats. But the two Democrats in the May 22 election, former U.S. Rep. Ed Case and state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, could split the vote, handing the seat to Republican Charles Djou. ”

The hardest maybe to get will be the one coming up April 13th. Florida – 19. Ed Lynch (R) taking on Ted Deutsch (D) . He’s considered a longshot because the district leans so far left. But he’s made some inroads with the large Jewish as well as elderly populations in the district. Lynch has a write-up on Breitbart’s Big Government .

I’m not so naive to believe we can pick up all four. But if we stop meandering onto all these little side isuues that the dems want to draw attention to, (like violence against lawmakers,) then we can educate ourselves about the soonest elections and the candidates running in them. And it should be noted these aren’t full term seats. These elections are to put people in to fill unexpired terms. But they will help send a message if we can rally around them.

We need to prove the health care vote made people mad. We do it by voting people out or not letting dems get back in. We need to pick up some of these. Pick your favs and get active.

should be clearly and repeatedly pointed out. The HC abomination bill has serious impact on the elderly Medicare dependent population.

Setting priorities is imperative. We have a unique opportunity at this time to put our focus on 4 races before Nov. Let’s take one (or 4) at a time and knock them off. Can you imagine the momentum that would be garnered by winning 3 of these? This can be done. VA, MA, and NJ proved it.

Every GOP candidate should be armed with a list of a dozen or so of the worst provisions of the health care bill complete with direct quotes and page and line references. They must be able to counter “It doesn’t really say that”.

Every GOP candidate should have a list of all the corrupt deal making that has characterized the Obama team. Every closed door meeting, should be highlighted. Every self-serving deal with the anti-capitalist Wall Street crowd should be dissected in public. If we let the Democrats escape being labeled the party of big business, they will beat us again.

Every GOP candidate should be prepared to describe the way Obama bows to our enemies and betrays our friends. Make sure he and that harpy secretary of state of his own the Iranian nuclear weapons issue.

In Jewish neighborhoods, ask for a pledge from your opponent that Jerusalem remain the undivided capital of Israel. In Polish neighborhoods, ask him to defend the sellout of our best ally in Europe to the Russians.

Remind everyone that our traditional special relationship with the UK was trashed to score points with the fascists in Argentina over the Falklands.

Even in black neighborhoods, ask them if they really trust the Democrats to improve the education of their children or are they a wholly owned subsidiary of the teachers union.

And that’s just the beginning. We win on every important issue. Let’s not take the easy way out and let the opponents off the hook,, like we always do.

No time to waste! We need to take back the House. We can start now. Within 60 days the special elections in FL, HI, and PA will be over. We can win these. Special elections are all about turnout.

The Florida district is heavily senior citizen with a heavy concentrated Jewish population. The health care outrage and worst crisis in US-Israeli relations have laid the groundwork for an upset by Mr. Lynch. That election is coming up on April 13. Special elections are all about motivating the electorate. Our side needs to be ready for this one.

HI and PA will have their elections in May. We need to seat as many Republicans as possible in these special elections. The next Congress does not get sworn in until January 2011. The Democrats can do a lot of damage before then. We’ve got to stop them.

Let’s start with FL-19. I am sure that the resident redstaters are already active, but those of us with retired family or friends in that district should give them a call!

I appreciate you guys understanding how time is running out on us. Razar, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know all the nuances of the Jewish community. Lynch’s opponent Ted Deutsch has shown his support in THE PAST for Israel. But ever since the Israel settlement announcement a few weeks ago, Deutsch has been quiet. The DEMS are afraid to go against Obama on this .

Lynch on the other hand wrote up 400-word statement blasting the administration’s policy back at the beginning of the month.

I see all the attention focused on the senate, which is good. But I hate seeing possible winable house races falling by the wayside just because we got sidetracked.

We should be writing letters to the editor in their towns, making calls and generally showing our support now while we still have momentum.

why doesn’t anyone catch on to djou. he is pro-choice, pro-gay rights, and wont sign the healthcare repeal pledge. he is a RINO.

  • tngal

Ok, what’s the deal here with Djou? Is he the only rep running against the two dems? I don’t know. I do know this vote in Hawaii is kinda different than what’s normally done. Apparently everything will be done by mail in ballot. And while we can’t fly down there to knock on doors for a particular candidate we can do letters to the editor, blog, phone.

That’s the whole point of this thread. We gotta educate ourselves. If you got intel, spill.
