Hey, Teacher! Leave Them Kids Alone!

Let’s travel back in time to Wednesday, May 5th, in California. Cinco de Mayo. Five students went to school wearing t-shirts sporting -(oh the horror) – The American Flag. As in “I pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of … You know the rest.
Anyway… the Assistant Principal hauled the five students into the principal’s office where they were told to turn their T-shirts inside out or be sent home. Did I mention the Assistant Principal’s name was Miguel Rodriguez. Seems he didn’t want any fights to break out at school during the celebraiton of this Mexican holiday. How thoughtful.
And then the next day a couple hundred Hispanics students skipped class and marched to the district headquarters in protest .
Now, the principal has apologized for telling the students they couldn’t wear their flag shirts. Little late now, bud.
Consider this an open thread to rave on patriotism, rant on educational indoctrination or review Pink Floyd. (Although the mods might not take too kindly on the latter.)

that causes me to support the crack-down on illegals. I would also support a periodic review of naturalized citizens to see if they are really complying with the oaths they took under penalty of loss of citizenship.

This is America damn it!. If you don’t like that, then leave.

The Klein TX ISD has suspended the student who removed the Mexican flag that was “flying higher than the American Flag”.

The school says it approved the flag but seem reluctant to say who provided the flag.

I’ve been looking over a few stories on it and frankly if it was me, I’d reprimand the principal. If I was on the school board, I’d reprimand the Superintendent for not getting to the point first. I guess either things have changed in the nearly 14 years since I was in school or the district is not the place I’d send my children. I know it would happen at either Uvalde CISD or East Central ISD when I was in school but these districts here in the Houston area don’t seem the same as to what I dealt with.

Fly different flags at the United Nations, but schools should only fly fed colors (Old Glory), and state colors. Agggghhhh. And the student who removed the flag gets suspended! The kid’s a hero in my book.
