Oil floats to the top, dude, not water.
Chemical Sam (Diary) Thursday, March 5th at 8:05PM EST (link)I’m banking that’s an oversight on your part, though. That’d be a liberal-type mistake.
And, just so you know. I can get the water to float to the top by adding enough chloroform to the oil when nobody’s looking. That’d be a liberal-type example of proof.
Be careful which analogies you employ. Just sayin’.
If you stick with the general concept of layers of different density, rather than naming the layers, you can’t make the mistake. That’s how one can defeat a liberal-type misunderstanding of concepts.
Weather, living processes, and atmospheric chemisty, are absolutely subsets of physics, biology and chemistry, respectively.
These fields of science are never invoked by AGW proponents, except to say that Mankind is interfering and destroying the Earth.
These basic fields are in fact replaced in with poorly measured cherrypicked data, conceptual misappropration, models presuming baseless correlations, and meaningless trends which don’t reflect the processes involved, unduly isolating processes, and blatant disregard for all events that are contrary to the adherent line.
Like acid rain, so too shall AGW fall. Will it be in time to avoid bankrupting the USA is the only question.
So, I’m totally on board with the rest of your diary. There is nothing yet concrete enough to legislate. Pollution control, waste minimization, and even reforestation are good ideas, economically and ecologically sound in and of themselves. They just have the inconvenient quality of being something people can decide to do without the help of the Democratic Party, or the World Body, or the UN.
(Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant; it is an essential component of the atmosphere necessary to all life. Nor it is the most important greenhouse gas, WATER is)
No one has answered (or can yet answer to my satisfaction) to what extrent the weather would be different if the activites of Humanity weren’t occuring on the planet. A better understanding of the world’s processes is essential to making the right policy choices.
Until then, Al, Joe, Barack, Nance, shut yer yaps and let the real scientists, the ones you don’t pay to give you the info you want, to take their time and figure it out.
Criterion Chemical was in the black for FY2010!
Not bad considering the forces arrayed against small business these days.
Let’s see about actually making some serious profit this year. Shameless capitalism, by:

Agree.
Praying (Diary) Friday, March 6th at 10:34AM EST (link)But I’m embarrassed to note that I skimmed right over the oil/water thing without even catching it! Wow! Better get a second cup of coffee!
No wonder the US is lagging behind other industrialized nations in math and science. I think our liberal-backed government schools are so busy indoctrinating our kids with social justice, etc. that they no longer teach kids to critically analyze data using the scientific method. As a scientist, this disturbs me greatly.
No!!!11!1!!1!1! The Bilderbergers are coming
Dont forget nuclear winter.
Next93 (Diary) Friday, March 6th at 3:17PM EST (link)If you’re going to bring up acid rain, you need to mention nuclear winter.
A prime example of reputable scientitst creating “science” out of whole cloth to support a political agenda, the nuclear winter scare was based on a computer model of a 1 square-inch column of air over the middle of Kansas (as far as possible from an ocean), with no wind, no ocean warming, no day-night cycle and no convective air movement. In other words, the model was “simplified” until it yielded the desired results, which had been determined before the “experiment” started. The media never asked any questions, just repeated the mantra as though it had been handed down on tablets from Mount Sainai.
Sound familiar?
And while the MSM was all-too-willing to cover the phoneyed-up initial study, they’ve NEVER covered the fact that they were hoaxed.
Obama was The One in 2008.
He’ll be a BIGGER one in 2012.

The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) thinks its “very likely” that we’d be experiencing Global Cooling right now were it not for the “forcings” caused by man.
I’d much rather be facing warming than cooling.
And one science you left out (climate change types often leave it out, too) is geology. It’s gotta be impossible to square warming models with earth history.
