WORD COUNT: Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

Don’t be fooled, no state is going to turn down federal money.  This is a scam, just the same old socialized health care.  ‘Opt-Out’ only appears ONCE in the text of the legislation. http://democrats.senate.gov/reform/patient-protection-affordable-care-act.pdf

Scenes from 11.5.2009 Anti Obamacare Protest

I went to the protest and took photos/video.  After the protest we went to see our congressmen to ask them face-to-face not to support Obamacare.  EVERY ONE hid behind their staffer’s who were saying they were in committee meetings etc.  This video is from one of Allen Boyd’s (D-FL) staffers.  Allen is considered a bluedog.  Watch the arrogance of the staff, acting like it is astonishing that we question a 1.05 Trillion dollar bill that will takeover yet another industry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkMxTXTHdTo

“I ask you - the citizens of New Jersey, hold me accountable”

Jon Corzine January 17th 2006

From Jon Corzine’s 2005 election campaign:

Responsible. Corzine has a plan to grow state revenues from a growing economy, and

make specific spending cuts. This is the only responsible way to make more state funds

available for direct property tax relief without raising other taxes.

Effective. Corzine’s plan gives direct rebates to homeowners and renters who need them;

rebates are guaranteed to grow 10% per year – or 40% over 4 years.

Accountable. Corzine will hold local governments and school districts accountable for their

spending. He will push for a new, elected State Comptroller with jurisdiction over local

government, and he will expand incentive programs for smart management and reduced

spending by local governments. Corzine will also work to eliminate unfunded mandates.

And he will end the “corruption tax” at all levels of government, to make sure taxpayers are

not paying for sweetheart contracts and corruption.

Lasting. Corzine will ensure lasting relief by hard-wiring rebates into the state budget, and

by keeping NJ’s economy competitive to keep revenues growing. Also, Corzine strongly

advocates for a Citizens’ Convention on property taxes to bring long-term structural relief

and permanently reduce the property tax burden.

Since Corzine has been in office:

In July 2009 a major corruption probe led to the arrests of 44 New Jersey officials, in which 43 were Democrats. A member of Jon Corzine’s cabinet, Commissioner of Community Affairs Joseph Doria was raided by the FBI.

A New York Times poll in 2009 found that 51% of state residents disapproved of how Corzine was handling corruption in the state. Even worse, 77% complained that corruption would either increase or stay the same if Corzine was re-elected.

On the way to an unimportant publicity meeting on April 13, 2007, Corzine ordered his police driver to go at high speeds, and refused to wear a seat belt. In the resulting crash the air bag did not work and Corzine was inches from death.

Under Governor Corzine New Jersey was ranked as the worst business climate of any state by the Tax Foundation, and overall has the highest tax burden in the nation.

Since Corzine took office, property taxes have risen 17%, twice the rate of inflation.

The state budget deficit has increased from $3.6 billion to $10 billion.

Foreclosed homes have increased 31%, one of the highest in the nation, and the unemployment rate has risen from 4.8% to 9.8%, higher than any of it’s neighboring states

In response to the rising deficit Corzine has proposed eliminating New Jersey’s property tax rebates, which provides tax relief in the state of New Jersey, which already has the highest property taxes in the nation. Corzine has already cut $382.5 million from the rebate program in June 2008.

I agree with Jon Corzine, let’s hold him accountable. Please remember to vote on Tuesday

Health care: Jam it down their throat

In the left’s latest attempt at the takeover of health care (http://www.gop.gov/download?folder=misc&file=111_ahcaa.pdf) starting on page 512 titled ‘Congressional Procedures’:

PROCEEDING TO CONSIDERATION.—A motion in the Senate to proceed to the consideration of a joint resolution shall be privileged and not debatable.

…all debatable motions and appeals in connection therewith, shall be limited to not more than 20 hours.

Debate in the Senate on any debatable motion or appeal in connection with a joint resolution shall be limited to not more than 1 hour

With respect to the joint resolution of the House receiving the resolution, the procedure in that House shall be the same as if no such joint resolution had been received from the other House; but the vote on passage shall be on the joint resolution of the other House.

…the Senate then receives the companion measure from the House of Representatives, the companion measure shall not be debatable.

1.  What I can see is that there will be little or no debate, even to go so far as to say the bill states there will be little or no debate.

2.  John Boehner will not be allowed to read the bill on The House floor like he has done in the past.

3.  I’m not sure but is The Senate vote being done by The House?

Further down in the same section defining ‘Joint Resolution’:

BUDGETARY TREATMENT.—For the purposes of consideration of a joint resolution, the Chairmen of the House of Representatives and Senate Committees on the Budget shall exclude from the evaluation of the budgetary effects of the measure, any such effects that are directly attributable to disapproving a Medicare final implementation plan of the Secretary submitted under subsection (a).

In other words, they are guaranteeing that they will use reconciliation in The Senate so that a simple majority can pass the bill.

Ask yourself this. If the American people really wanted a government takeover of health care, then why are changes to congressional procedure needed in order to pass the bill?  Why is little or no debate going to take place?  And why does ‘reform’ COST over a trillion dollars?  This is blatant corruption.  Our representatives are not doing their job of representing us.  All we are left with at the end of the day is fewer and fewer freedoms and liberties while the Chinese are licking their chops waiting to call their loan.

Welcome Back Death Panels

In the latest health care bill introduced in the house yesterday it appears as if the much controversial ‘Death Panels’ are back.

First on page 129

“shall provide for the dissemination of information related to end-of-life planning to individuals seeking enrollment in Exchange-participating health  benefits plans offered through the Exchange;”

Then on page 642

“An explanation by the practitioner of the role and responsibilities of a health care proxy and of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports  available, including palliative care and hospice, and  benefits for such services and supports that are available under this title. ”

Among the panels and commissions that are included in the bill, one of the groups of bureaucrats below could one day be deciding if you cost too much to keep alive.

Health Benefits Advisory Committee
Clinical perspective advisory panel
Personal Care Attendant Workforce Advisory Panel
Medicare Payment Advisory Commission

Our Congress is a complete embarrassment to this nation.  We need a congressional overhaul, not a health care overhaul.

The Public Option Option

“the best way to move forward is to include a public option with the opt-out provision for states.” -Harry Reid

The opt-out provision…So I guess this means states have a choice to have socialized health care or not.  Does this seem odd to anyone else?  IT ALREADY EXISTS! If a state wants a government health care plan then they do it.  Look at TennCare in Tennessee or MHIP in Maryland.  Its called the 10th Amendment.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The bill in the Senate right now allows states to opt out of an option in which they already had that option (confusing huh?).  The only addition is that the bill in the Senate comes with a one trillion dollar price tag.  What does it really mean?  It means that states that decided to socialize they heath care will get federal funding.   That means that the hard working people in Texas will be paying for the health care of the liberal 20-something college student in the New Jersey.  This is just another way to get socialized health care in the United States.  I’m sure that Medicare is going to be cut across the board, to all states, even the ones not choosing socialized health care.  Hmm, could that put a HUGE amount of pressure on the governor’s of those states to jump on the Obamacare wagon?  This is just the first tiny step of nationalized government run health care.  It MUST be defeated.  Once the left gets their foot in the door the floodgates open, look at the entitlement programs.  I think in NJ you can now go over a year to get paid by the state to not work (unemployment).  As I last recall food stamp usage is at a record high.  Like I said, all it takes is for the left to get their foot in the door.  We must stop Obamacare in its tracks.

Menendez Health Reform Poll

Senator Menendez (NJ-D) has a poll on his website about health insurance reform.  Right now the results are 71% of people oppose and 25% support it.  You can submit your results as many times as you like.   I encourage everyone, even if you don’t live in New Jersey to take part in it.

Here is a link –> <a href=”http://menendez.senate.gov/issues/polls/poll/?id=87052c92-82f8-45be-9911-a46e9c37ffbd”>http://menendez.senate.gov/issues/polls/poll/?id=87052c92-82f8-45be-9911-a46e9c37ffbd</a>

How the Senate Finance Committee deals with tort reform.

From page 1211 and 1212 of the Senate Fiance Committee health care takeover bill:

Subtitle H—Sense of the S
Regarding Medical Malpra
SEC. 3701. SENSE OF THE SENATE REGARDIN
MALPRACTICE.
It is the sense of the Senate that—
(1) health care reform presents an opportunity
to address issues related to medical malpractice and
medical liability insurance;
(2) States should be encouraged to develop and
test alternatives to the existing civil litigation system
as a way of improving patient safety, reducing med-
ical errors, encouraging the efficient resolution of
disputes, increasing the availability of prompt and
fair resolution of disputes, and improving access to
liability insurance, while preserving an individual’s
right to seek redress in court; and
(3) Congress should consider establishing a
State demonstration program to evaluate alter-
natives to the existing civil litigation system with re-
spect to the resolution of medical malpractice claims.

Pathetic at best.  When it comes to real ways to reduce health insurance costs the Senate urges states to “develop and test new alternatives to civil litigation.”  There is ZERO tort reform, just suggestions on what the states should do.  Is this really about reducing health insurance costs?

While at the same time, the 245 Billion dollar deficit haunting medicare has been taken out of this bill and added to our national debt. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1009/28470.html

We are in dire need of an overhaul, but not a health care overhaul, we need a congressional overhaul.

A call to action - Leave our health care alone

I read this morning on TheHill.com (link) where Arlen Specter stated that “I think the public option is gaining momentum. … I’m not going to step back a bit.” Now is the time, its do or die. We need to rally our family, friends, coworkers, everyone we know and tell them the truths about government run health care. If you are not already doing so, you need to call your representatives every single day and let them know that voting in favor of Obamacare is political suicide. What makes this country great is that the people are FREE. Free to buy health insurance and just as free not to. We are free to choose our doctors, our lawyers, and our politicians. America is great because the individual is dependent only upon him or herself. We don’t need to go beg the government to get treated by the best doctor. If we want the best, we strive for the best, no need to kiss the shoes of someone else to get what we want. Now is the time, if you read conservative blogs but don’t really take the time to write letters or call your congressmen, now is the time to take action. The very freedom that this country is based upon is in jeopardy.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
Thomas Jefferson
