John Mica; A Bond Too Far

mica

By: George Noga

John Mica, beginning his 10th term in Congress, represents Florida’s 7th congressional district which snakes from Winter Park to the Jacksonville city limits. The crazy quilt nature of his district likely discourages serious challengers with a political base only in one part of the district.

That may change when Florida redistricts prior to the 2012 election. A stiff challenge to Mica in the Republican primary is overdue and 2012 post-redistricting may be the right time due to Mica’s apostasy on SunRail and more recently (and more seriously) on the (“BAB”) Build America Bond program – more on that infra.

Despite a generally conservative voting record (100% in some years by the American Conservative Union and over 90% with his party), there are enough reasons why limited government, fiscally conservative voters would want him out. The case for his ouster includes:

No, it gets worse. Mica is thinking about running for US Senate.

Should have had the whole article without having to go to your blog.
If you want people to go to your blog,
just say so with the web address at the bottom of your article.

Others do with out the deception. ;)

That is, Red State will allow cross-posting, but only if the whole article is posted to both with links. Posting a partial here to gain hits elsewhere is not just uncool… which would be a shame because this gets off to a good start.

Typically, if it’s an original piece, I post the entire article here on RS without a direct link back to my site. Since this piece was written by a contributer, I only posted a lead in, not wanting to confuse anyone that it could be my work. This may not make sense, but it’s my twisted logic! :)

As for the rules on RS, I’ve never seen any rules posted and just follow along with what I see as being ‘normal’, but I appreciate the coucil.

There is no problem with posting your original content with a link back to your site noting that it is cross-posted there.

This post is problematic because it is a partial post of someone else’s writing on your site. To get the context, the reader must follow the link to your site, which many may take to be an internal RedState link. That’s a little parasitic.

Mr. Noga is welcome to post here directly, under his own account.

    Erick,

I hope you’ll keep this one on your watch list. Mr Mica definitely needs a challenge from a constitutionalist conservative.
