MEMBER DIARY

There’s Sarah Palin And Then There’s… ???

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Somewhere in the center of the photo below is former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin, attending the Iowa Sate Fair yesterday. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a media throng!

One Nation bus tour, SarahPAC

I may be going out on a limb here, but I submit that the entire GOP presidential candidate field combined could not draw this kind of coverage.

Fortunately for this field, which is causing many on the right to suffer from Electyle Dysfunction – the inability to get excited over the current GOP offerings – Palin decided not to stay in Iowa for today’s straw poll. A decision that’s sure to prompt a big sigh of relief from the GOP contenders in that they may now actually see some media coverage.

In a world that has been turned on it’s head, where perception trumps reality and far too many of today’s ‘leaders’ carefully craft an image of themselves that wouldn’t recognize the truth if it bumped into it, where style reigns supreme over substance and authenticity matters not, we have the gracious, ever so refreshing Sarah Palin.

A woman who does not have to work at relating to the common man simply because she is of the common man. The consummate outsider in a political world gone amuck. A woman who has the courage to stand up to the elite ruling class on both sides of the aisle AND work with anyone who’s willing to do the right thing. A woman who will not tolerate putting personal gain before the good of the people, as the political establishment is so want to do.

A woman who’s character and integrity are just as important to her as the next breath she draws, a woman who understands that to whom much is given, much is expected.

With the great American experiment that our Founding Fathers sacrificed their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to produce crumbling all around us, by the grace of God, the citizens of this country will be given the opportunity to correct the course in 2012. Perhaps the final opportunity, for one has to believe that for even God, there’s a limit to His patience.

Yes, it’s a given that Sarah Palin is running for President of the United States.

The real question here is will the American people accept that for whom much is given, much is expected and rise above the multi-million dollar Madison Ave. marketing campaigns and accept the responsibility to really know who they’re voting for? Yes, this is the same American populace that bought the hype of ‘Hope and Change‘ hook, line and sinker, yet, as has been proven time and again, eventually America get’s it right – usually after trying all other options, but we get it right.

And if we are to continue this great American experiment, we must rise to the challenge before us just as the stories of American history tell us have been done so many times before. In fact, Sarah Palin is the ultimate American story… and the only possible outcome to bring this story full circle and atone for the manner in which this woman and her family have been so unjustly maligned is to introduce her to the world on November 7, 2012 as Madame President. America, are you up for the challenge?

It really makes it hard to take you seriously.

    Overstating a case never helps.

When you lose credibility on one sentence, it makes your other sentences less effective.

Can you explain what good reason Palin is in Iowa the day before the straw poll… and you’ve got to do better than say she was invited. She is invited to thousands of events that she declines on a regular basis.

Deductive reasoning, also called deductive logic, is reasoning which constructs or evaluates deductive arguments. Deductive arguments are attempts to show that a conclusion necessarily follows from a set of premises or hypotheses.

See the article where Palin’s describing what her campaign would look like?

I think Ms. Palin has been planning to run, but her enthusiasm levels across a broad spectrum of voters just haven’t been strong enough for her to win the nomination. (She has strong enthusiasm levels amongst her voters, but she hasn’t been able to generate the same enthusiasm across a broader spectrum of voters).

        http://www.gallup.com/poll/election.aspx’

Her campaign team came up with this notion of the bus tour, and gave its blessings to the movie, hoping this would stir up more positive interest in Ms. Palin’s behalf across the broader spectrum of voters they are hoping to engage.

Ms. Palin took Perry at his word when he said he wasn’t running for office, so she thought she had all the time in the world to “work” this media strategy.

But Perry is getting in, which has thrown something of a monkey-wrench in Ms. Palin’s plans.

So, she goes to Iowa to keep herself in contact with the media and with voters, hoping that Perry’s entry into the race doesn’t eat into the spectrum voters her campaign has been hoping to engage.

I agree that Perry entering the race makes the road to the nomination trickier (more tricky?) for Sarah Palin.

          • lineholder

You can count her as a “given” for entering the race if you want to.

But when you make it sound as if American citizens have no other options than “Madame President”….where I come from that is what we call “counting the chickens before they hatch”, and it’s usually looked at as being full of folly.

          • http://www.floridapoliticalpress.com/ tomtflorida

Not sure how you read that I offer folks no other options, I suggest that the only way to bring her story full circle would be to introduce her as Madame President and was attempting to persuade the reader to accept my position – never did I hold a gun to anyone’s head. (Excuse the terrorist rhetoric!)

The comment about Palin running is a “given” coupled with the comment about “the only possible outcome”, etc. leaves a distinct impression of “it has to be Palin”.

Plus, the part about “atoning to her family” makes it sound like people should vote for her as some act of “reparation” rather than on the basis of merit or genuinely believing that she is the best option our nation has right now.

That’s just how it comes across.

Reasons why Palin wants to be in Iowa: 1. She enjoys politics. 2. She wants to keep a high profile 3. Iowa fairs are fun 4. Keep the candidates in line 5. Advance conservative agenda 6. Maintain political capital. I am not saying that it is a “given” that sheis not running, just that your certainty is silly.

        • http://www.floridapoliticalpress.com/ tomtflorida

          Silly only if proven wrong…

I also submit that she fully knows her presence in Iowa the day before the straw poll presents a major distraction for the candidates and she would not do that unless she’s sure that she’ll be challenging these same candidates at some point.

I state with certainty that she will run because every indication leans toward that conclusion and there are few, if any, indications that suggest she will not. Nonetheless, the speculation will be over soon.

          • JSobieski

“its a given” is only non-silly when it makes sense. You don’t use the phrase for a 50/50 proposition or a political prediction where you don’t actually have inside information.

The logic of Palin is in Iowa so she must be running because there is no other reason is silly.

If you have other data points that are relevant you should share them. Hanging around Iowa is hardly enough.

            and now we have Perry!

  • GordonTaylor

Last time around when she was picked for VP I said here then that it was the wrong choice. Everyone pretty well dissed me for it.

I still say the same thing. I love her to death, but I don’t want her for my President and I predict she never will be.

  • ruexperienced

The fact that she is stringing her followers along does not mean that she is running.
