The first rule of breakin’ horses, is “When you’re thrown off, climb back on.” I learned this from my father-in-law who in his younger days was a thoroughbred trainer. More importantly, everyone who grew up on a ranch in Texas knows this to be a fact. So, conservatives need to stop pining away for candidates who aren’t going to get into the race and start demanding that Rick Perry “reboot” his campaign. Here are the reasons why:
1. Perry has already said that he would run for President again, unlike Daniels, Christie, Rubio, and Jeb Bush who have declined repeated invitations.
2. Perry is already on the ballot in many of the states that have yet to vote (including Illinois) and he has time to qualify for additional states.
3. Erick has said that he would vote for Perry (or Cain) in Georgia. We should take that as a signal to rally to Perry as our candidate.
4. When Newt’s campaign finally fails (and it will), Newt will return the favor and endorse Perry if Perry is back in the race.
5. The Texas primary, with a treasure trove of 155 delegates, has been postponed until May 29.
6. States with 299 delegates (including California with 172 delegates) don’t vote until June.
7. There aren’t going to be any more debates (Perry’s Achilles heel), and if there are, Perry measurably increased his performance in the last debates in which he appeared.
8. While Perry is unlikely to get to 1144 delegates (and neither is Santorum or Gingrich), he holds the best hope of producing a brokered convention.
9. A brokered convention will almost certainly select someone who has been a candidate, who has been vetted and who enters the convention with a base of committed delegates.
10. Rick Perry is the consistent limited government, 10th Amendment conservative who was first to take on the Obama “war on religion” before it became a major issue.

What Does He Have To Lose?
rightland1111 Wednesday, February 29th at 12:26PM EDT (link)The press has already taken him down. However, that record is superior to any that are running. There is a direct line between the WH and Wall Street. The states are being trampled upon. Obama is trying to “woo” Scalia and Kennedy for Obamacare votes. Gas is going through the roof; the EPA is running everything; XL Pipeline is in limbo…or gone. The Congress doesn’t have the guts to go up against Obama…it looks like McConnell is selling Obamacare, free enterprise and companies are getting devoured by this WH and people that have money are stashing it somewhere else…or leaving this country.
So…here comes Perry. Well, I see that the government wants to give boys the Gardisil vaccination…oh Bachmann…where are you to protect these innocents. Is the guy clean enough. Yes. no extra marital affairs; believes in God; believes in state’s rights; has an excellent jobs record; believes in a strong national defense; will secure the border; excellent tax plan; excellent employment plan…BUT HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
We want a person in the WH that lies…oh…mis speaks…so I don’t offend anyone.
Did you hear what they are doing to our military concerning Tri-care? No….well, it seems that not only do they chance losing their lives for our freedom….they now have to pay for their healthcare. What do you think that is going to do for enlistment in this economy? Just a minor thought.
Back to Romney…what is his plan to save SS and Medicare for the current ELDERLY….NOTHING…NOTTA…ZIP. And this guy won Arizona! He’s going to talk to the Chinese? No…he is going to capitulate…just like he did with the Dems in MA.
All this guy can say is the economy is my wheelhouse…NO JOBS PLAN…but he knows the economy, God save this country…because WILLARD CAN’T and Obama is destroying it.
Speaking of the HPV vaccine
Scope (Diary) Wednesday, February 29th at 12:47PM EDT (link)There was a bill before the majority controlled VA legislature this week to repeal the in place mandate on the HPV vaccine. It failed because the usual R’s that vote mostly with the D’s voted against the repeal. Gov. Bob McDonnell, the VP hopeful with Mitt Romney, did nothing to push for the repeal. He must have been on the campaign trail with Romney, in between his visit to the WH with the other Governors listening to Obama’s spin.
Scope...I hope I am reading this right...but are you
rightland1111 Wednesday, February 29th at 1:15PM EDT (link)saying that you are for the repeal of it. I’m not and perhaps if people understood the ramifications of it…we’d have that in every state. You are sexually active with this virus…end result…CANCER.

rightland- Yes I am for the repeal
Scope (Diary) Wednesday, February 29th at 1:44PM EDT (link)of the vaccine being mandated. Parents should be the ones deciding whether to get their kids vaccinated or not, in conjunction with their doctors. The doctors can advise the parents about the risks of not being vaccinated. Do you remember the slamming of Perry for his mandate of the vaccine? He was crucified for it. Most believe that the parents should make the decision. At least in Texas they had an opt out. Here in VA there is no opt out that I know of. I don’t want the government mandating that kids only eat greens and carrot sticks either.
Can anyone ever forget the wild eyed Bachmann all but accusing Perry of strapping innocent little children down and jabbing them with a needle that causes mental retardation. M Malkin followed up with that, and I believe Greta and Palin did also.
Vaccinations for communicable diseases are not a private matter.
jakeofalltrades (Diary) Wednesday, February 29th at 10:34PM EDT (link)It is well within the bounds of state authority IMO to say that you can either get vaccinated, go to jail and be vaccinated, or GT*O.
I have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to eradicating deadly viruses – now matter how much some people just seem to love them.
Scope...I Don't Want To Argue...I Remember This
rightland1111 Thursday, March 1st at 2:55PM EDT (link)Before I get started on my reason for the mandate, I am probably older than you are. I can remember that I was not allowed to go swimming in the 1950′s because of Polio. Everyone was afraid of it, to the point that mothers wanted to keep their children at home. It, of course, drew a lot of attention because of President Roosevelt. BTW…I am Conservative…I am just using an example. Today…we don’t have a problem with Polio. Polio was a disease that people contracted not of their own choosing…and that last point is very important. In fact, some schools won’t let you enroll your child unless they have had MMR vaccine. I’m glad of that also.
I understand where you are coming from, in that we have had the Government tell the Catholic Church that they must distribute and perform birth control pills/abortions…and now of course, the insurance companies pay for it..but they are still required. So, your argument about “mandating” seems constitutional. I say “seems” because there are exceptions.
You think that the parents should have a say in this. Tell that to the woman whose child was not allowed to eat the unapproved lunch. Again…it is unconstitutional and takes away our freedoms.
But…now we come to HPV. Nobody really knows a heck of a lot about it. They know that it is a virus and they know that it is spread sexually. We should know by now that it must be administered before a child (boy or girl) is sexually active or it is not affective.
Now…I am glad that Polio is not a problem any longer…and Polio, like I said is not of your own choosing…but HPV is and furthermore…the result of contracting it is DEATH. At least with Polio…you have a chance to survive. With the morality what it is today (and I am sure you would say it is lacking to say the least)…do you think that parents are watching what their kids to every second? Back in my day…if one had a STD, meaning syphillis or Gonnorehea(sp)…you could cure it. Not so with HPV. What is it…it is veneral warts and it is an epedemic. That last word should raise eyebrows.
Now…if you want to leave this all up to the parents…we might not have another generation living long enough to do anything about it. There are other side effects of this :
http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv.htm
So…yeah…if I were a mother of a teenager…I would want it mandated. Why…because I don’t want my child to die….not crippled…die. And…this is not just a disease that affects one person…it is spread….until it affects many, many people.
Want insurance to go up, when we have a solution to stop it…don’t get it and spread it to everyone. Oh…and that thing stays with you FOR LIFE….So you could be 40 and spreading it around.
Want your child protected from a STD that can easily be stopped with a vaccine…require that all children get it.
Finally…if your don’t believe in mandates with regard to THIS particular vaccine…then let’s also allow Dr. Kavorkian back into the picture and not send him to jail if someone wants to die and that just involves themselves.
How many teenager or young adults have the wisdom to say “no” because they have a STD? Answer: This particular one is an epedemic that can be stopped.
You need to do some research
irishgirl Thursday, March 1st at 5:13PM EDT (link)Lots of folks have the virus (there’s close to 10 different strains of HPV) and it does NOT mean you are going to end up with cancer. There’s just a chance, repeat a chance, that you MAY get cancer IF you get the HPV virus that causes the warts.
On the subject matter at hand, I was a Perry supporter, but he isn’t running and we are left with….well, you know.
Irishgirl...Again...it is going to take many years
rightland1111 Friday, March 2nd at 12:30PM EDT (link)to realize the full impact of this. I have done the research and I believe it was Perry’s wife, a nurse, that encouraged him to sign this.

Cannot keep Perry down…he will get back on and ride! When can he? You can bet Perry knows. He is far smarter than any give him credit for…just because he speaks straight forward English then he is the dumb one…just because he answers directly then he cannot debate. Debates against obama? What a joke all fell for…who wins debates? Again a joke to even guess. It is up to individuals…if they like the message and the pundits do not shoot the messenger then the people will rally. Who does not love liberty in this country…who would not want the people power again! Perry will bring that and that is a sure bet…not ify that Newt brings. Perry was and is the best shot at a 21st century Reagan we have had since the Great Ronald Reagan retired. It is completely ridiculous that the Iowans coalesced around Santorum, and that people who could have made a difference standing up for Governor Perry after a few subpar debate performances didn’t.

louisianapatriette (Diary) Wednesday, February 29th at 9:07PM EDT (link)Voting for Rick Perry on March 24, and nothing will stop me now–no fear, no retreat.
For a couple of weeks I flirted with the idea of voting for Rick Santorum. Then I realized yesterday that although there are definitely some good things about Santorum, my underlying motive was fear of Romney. What’s the point of voting for someone if you don’t have conviction about it? “Always vote for principle, though we may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”–John Adams
I’m going to vote on principle, not political convenience or strategy. Call me crazy, delusional, clinging to dead hopes, whatever–but frankly my dear, I don’t give a tiddly-wink. I don’t care what anybody else thinks of me: I only care what God thinks. He led me to support Rick Perry in July 2011 and I’m going to do so to the end, whatever that end may be.

greyeagle Wednesday, February 29th at 11:38PM EDT (link)It really offends me to hear the term “LaRaza Rick”. That was used numerous times to tar and feather Governor Perry on numerous web sites. He was accused of not securing the border or being soft on immigration. Immigration is a federal responsibility not a State Governor. The TX border is 1200 miles long and is sometimes in the middle of the river or at one place in the middle of a large lake. Perry has had teams on the border for several years. Please look at the stats by a TX congressman regarding the number of illegals caught and released by ICE. So please do NOT use that slur against Governor Perry. It is offensive.

The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself. – Benjamin Franklin

I hear your desperate plea, liberty17,
westcoastpatriette (Diary) Thursday, March 1st at 6:58PM EDT (link)but I am afraid it just would not work now. Too many have bought the negative smears brought about by the media and the uphill climb would be too steep and costly if Perry were to fail to gain traction again. And too many influential conservatives helped smear him (Michelle Malkin among others) and/or failed to support him like we needed them to do in order to neutralized the smear campaign.
I also think there is a huge divide between informed conservatives like ourselves and those who are not well informed. A combination of ignorance and poor vetting skills prevented many from seeing what we see in Governor Perry and that can only be called a sad shame.
Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. Psalm 149:1-3

I would love for Governor Perry to get back into the race but I do believe it is not the time. He needs to rest, spend the next four years building a team, a war chest, and analyzing the real reasons he did not appeal. After that, he should be able to steamroll the pack. He will surely have my support, both financial and otherwise.
Of course, I will be with him just the same if he jumps in now; he is the best judge of the conditions he faces, including his recent collarbone surgery.

valientpatriot Friday, March 2nd at 10:38PM EDT (link)Yes it is time! The conservative base is NOT happy, as evidenced by (1) the continual actual voting for candidates other than “the four” and (2) the continual complaining of the remaining voters that they will have to hold their noses for the primary vote. Yes, the primary vote! Not even the general election! Out of four candidates, none are calming our troubled spirits. Each one wears a hat that says, “I won’t be as bad as Obama.” And now, we know of a liason of the worst kind set to sock it to us with the old L&L. Liberal & Libertarian aka Romney & Paul.
Set to kill and destroy any powerful conservative was the MSM, Republican establishment and the liberal Republican pundits who previously managed to masquerade and sell books as conservatives. A newly activated constituency took too long to come to terms with that pundit break in trust. It’s hard to realize you have been betrayed by someone who exposed liberalism in the past years but now wants “a little” liberalism. Instead of researching the candidates in the running, the newly activated snatched at sound bites, attaching passionately to the candidate with the best delivery at the best moment for their passion. Passion has a strong stickiness and can close minds. Enter Perry, possibly a tad late and already marked for assassin. Whatever wasn’t smooth in the campaign or in his debating could have been allowed for if it had not been inflamed by the set-up. The other candidates had their campaign and history of speech problems, but their names were not completely omitted from reporting on Fox news. The fair and balanced had become part of the MSM while the MSM was attacking Perry with the same fervor they applied to Pres. George W. Bush. Yes, we noticed all that!
It’s history now. Just like a fall from a horse. But, I say the conservatives fell and they are the ones who need to get back up on the horse. Bring back Rick Perry, a strong leader with a fiscal and socially conservative record. (Who, BTW, has no problem raising money) There is time and it is time!

Rick Perry ran into a wall of corrupt coverage, uniformed voters and a slimy despicable competitor willing to say or do anything to discredit him.
