Now I admit to confusing the issue here, because my references were to the USAToday/Gallup poll of 12 battleground states (I mistakenly replaced Gallup with GWU) and not to the Politico/GWU Battleground poll, which actually polled all 50 states. The results, however, are extremely similar. There is only a very narrow gender gap, and Romney is leading, not losing, among white females as well as white males. The so-called gender gap is actually a racial divide.

1. Romney leads among non-college educated white males by an outstanding 58% to 31%.
2. Romney leads among non-college educated white females by 51% to 39%, a remarkable turn-around.
3. Romney leads among college educated white males by 53% to 42%.
4. Obama only narrowly leads among college educated white females by 49% to 47%, within the margin of error.
5. The only group where Obama leads outside the margin of error is Hispanic and African American voters: 70% to 21%, far below the numbers he needs to overcome his deficit among white voters in these states.
