Who won the debate? What others are saying.

There is a general consensus that Mitt Romney won last night’s debate. And not just from the left. Interesting and quite unexpected. Erick Erickson: RedState I think Mitt Romney did not just win the New Hampshire debate by holding his own, but legitimately won it with his answers and composure. He was unnecessarily defensive on the Afghan question, but largely showed his experience with Presidential | Read More »
10 Reasons why I might support Mitt Romney
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | June 8th at 11:31 AM |
I’m not a fan of Mitt Romney. There is a great deal about him that I just don’t like. Romneycare and his refusal to denounce Romneycare–to name two. Some of it is visceral–as an evangelical Christian, I am bothered by the fact that he is a Mormon. But then I remember that I’m not choosing a pastor, but a President. As the field shapes up, | Read More »

If Jon Huntsman can say the right things, why can’t Mitt Romney?
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | June 1st at 08:47 AM |
By now it’s not just Sarah Palin who knows how to answer the questions. Even Jon Huntsman knows the right answers. Are you in favor of ethanol subsidies? Huntsman: ”The debt ceiling must be raised this summer to cover the government’s massive borrowing, and we must make reductions in government spending a condition for increasing the debt ceiling. This will provide responsible leaders the opportunity | Read More »
(When) Will Nikki Haley Endorse Pawlenty?
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | May 24th at 10:42 AM |
There was this moment early in the first Republican debate in Greenville, SC: Juan Williams asked, “Governor Pawlenty, despite 10 years of the Bush tax cuts the unemployment rate here in South Carolina was 9.6% in March. Do you have any ideas for stimulating the job market beyond continued tax cuts?” It was a “gotcha” question. Pawlenty responded generically: “I sure do, Juan. It is | Read More »
Mitt’s $10.3 Million Moneybomb
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | May 17th at 09:59 AM |
In addition to tossing rhetorical hand-grenades, Ron Paul is also famous for his “Moneybombs”–large sums of campaign cash raised via the internet in a 24-hour period. Following the first Republican Presidential debate, his followers generated a million dollar moneybomb. Four years ago, he had a one-day record $6 million moneybomb. Despite some of his extreme libertarian positions, Paul has never been a slacker when it comes to fund-raising. | Read More »
Does anyone want the Republican nomination?
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | May 16th at 04:30 PM |
Maybe we should blame Jeb Bush. He started the ball rolling by making not running for President an okay thing to do. At least not in 2012. Even when lots of people want you to run. Even expect you to run. For the past year he has been saying that he won’t run for President. His father wanted him to run. His brother wanted him to run. The National | Read More »
Huckabee’s Supporters
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | May 14th at 09:00 AM |
Mike Huckabee will announce on his television show tonight that he is not a candidate for the Republican nomination. Haley Barbour doesn’t have the “fire in the belly”. Huckabee will say that he doesn’t feel led by the Holy Spirit. At any rate, two strong Southern candidates will not be on the ballot in a primary coming soon to your state. So where do Huckabee’s | Read More »
Pray for Huckabee?
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | May 12th at 08:32 AM |
Mike Huckabee needs your prayers. He’s seeking divine guidance as he decides whether or not to run for President. While others set up Exploratory Committees to try and answer that question, Huckabee has instead created a website: http://prayforhuckabee.com/ . Well, technically he didn’t put up the site, meaning that it isn’t paid for by Huck Pac. But he did write the prayer request letter posted | Read More »
Newt’s 50 State Strategy
By: tooncesthecat (Diary) | May 12th at 07:39 AM |
Newt Gingrich made it official yesterday. He will be a candidate for the Republican nomination. Although Newt has little chance of winning the nomination (if he was a mortgage loan, he would be underwater), he does have a strategy. Newt sees the contest essentially as a war of attrition. He knows that he has little chance to win Iowa with values voters usually in the ascendancy | Read More »
